if you want to replace “you” with “someone” that is fine with me, I was speaking broadly not saying you are inclined to do so.

Tesco Poleberry, Waterford. That van was parked in the left turn exit for several minutes. One car waited a while for him to move, surprisingly without blowing his horn, before moving to the right turn lane to turn left, as several others had to do too.

It's okay though, he had his hazards on.

    Parent & Child spaces :

As far as I’m aware, misuse of these spaces are not legally enforceable. I’ve never heard of a fine being issued. I guess in a private car park they could issue a fine, though never heard of such a case. Publicly, it’s not enforcible and relies on good will.

Admittedly I have used them occasionally, late at night …when the kiddies are asleep & rows of them are empty. 😉 In the photo you posted, it’s bad form.

If my kids are anything to go by other cars are not safe if they’re getting out in a regular space! I don’t know what it is with them and swinging the door wide open… but I digress.

Parent & child spaces are not illegal to occupy without kids but you’re being an awful dick. Especially when someone needs the space and they have a pram to unload— nightmare in regular spaces especially with (some) cars being just gigantic now.

Generally parents with kids park in regular / P&C spaces closest to the entrance. And you’re right… thats where most dents tend to happen.

As for your second comment, name calling doesn’t reflect well & just causes aggravation, so I’d avoid that. Esp. in a discussion forum. Context : half ten at night, raining, shops preparing to close, a savannah of empty space, 6 P & C spaces available …furthest from the entrance chosen. Nayre a toddler nor pram in sight, even in the shop. Leaving the shop, situation the same. No problems 🙂

I don’t mean at night and I’m not calling you a dick sorry! 😀

I mean at peak times when parents with babies/toddlers will actually really need them!

Apology accepted 🙂 & agree, peak times…avoid esp BMWs. 🤪

Agreed, parent and child spaces are just a curtesy provided by shops and private parking providers and have no legal baring. Don't think I've ever seen one on council provided parking.

In the case above though the driver was parked in a disabled bay and tried to double down on her ignorance stating it was a parent and child space despite the obvious wheelchair emblem and hatched markings surrounding the spot.

Perfectly enforceable and I've seen it being enforced. They may be no law against it but if the owner of the carpark wants to clamp anyone that parks in a parent and child space then there is not a lot you can do to stop them.

I'm not saying its still being enforced but in one carpark I use to use a private clamping company would clamp anyone they saw parking in a parent and child spot with no kids. The clamper had to be there at the time but its funny how often they were there watching.

Wake me up when it's all over.

    Not solid!

Look at the crease on the nearest pole. A solid pole won't bend like that.

Parking on Sand Dunes is the real problem here

    Ok, here’s one…

    IMG_5551.jpeg

Dangerous convenience parking where bus would pull in. To avoid a light drizzle, the guys in this car hopped across the road, & put other drivers at risk.

With oncoming traffic from dangerous bend to right, he creates a blindspot for cars exiting car park. -Forces drivers out onto road to get view. From a low driving position the view is worse. (Taken standing). No shortage of space in carpark.

I don't like the way that old tractors parked 😀
