Not really, you can't be anti semitic unless you hate all of those that are semitic. Can I ask, if the Israeli song was sung by Veronika from Russia, would you have still voted for it?

Yeah I loved the Germany entry as well as the Luxembourg entry. Both did awful in the scoring though!

I think many people mistakenly imo didn't vote for the Swiss entry because they were the hosts and may have thought that it would be a wasted vote ?

The song and singer deserved a lot more

Totally agree on Germany I love this remix even more than the one performed in the final.

The one I think of first was the lad with the camel toe a couple of years ago😂😂 that was a truly awful song. This years wasn't a classic but was decent

No don't agree with that .

Maybe not in Eurovision ( which let's face it is not the dizzy heights !) but Irish musicians and bands are more world class than one would expect from our country's size and population .

Song for Ireland should garner more than very average singers and songwriters but think Eurovision has lost its cool factor a long time ago for many musicians in Ireland .

🤣 I’d forgotten just how bad the song and the outfit was

I don't think Ireland would win the Eurovision no matter what it does, anyway. The contest has devolved into this camp, metrosexual festival of Europop with political voting trends. Ireland might as well send a genuine cultural expression instead of chasing the latest trend in choreographed, overwrought electronica.

    Agree

Damned if we do or we don't .

So should just stay true to what we like not what we think others will like and vote for .

While I think the Israeli singer and singer were the best, perhaps it is good that next year the contest will be in Austria, not Israel. If it was to be in Israel it could have forced the country to wrestle with the unfathomably acerbic test of pretending all is hunky dory while hostages continue to languish in Gaza’s tunnels. Even as results were being announced on Saturday night ( it was Sunday morning in Israel) sirens were going off in much of Israel warning of incoming rockets. The war there is not over yet.

Think you need to wrestle with the fact that Israel didn't win as you keep repeating yourself regarding what you thought was the best song over and over!!

You can say it a million times as I am sure you will keep repeating it like you have already but Austria deservedly won!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Nothing made up here ….. FACT Israel are in it ….. FACT other 'controversial' countries were banned …. FACT there are double standards ….

Say what you like about Eurovisions past …. but there seemed to be more fun there and a more innocent feel ….. The last few years have been politically charged ….. with Russia being treated one way and Israel another way …… the quality of the songs has gone down too ….. with many being just acts not songs ….. for what ever reason people have lost interest …..

I remember a few years back Eurovision was everywhere …. everyone talked about the Irish entry ….. in good terms or bad but they talked about it …… and they watched it ….. it was shown in the pubs the hotels the restaurants ….. and people watched …..

Lately people feel it is rigged set up biased against Ireland or in favour of others ….. no one believes Ireland can win it ….. Perhaps after coming too often last or near it or not even qualifying had an impact ….. whether it was Chris Doran crooning If My World Stopped Turning In The Morning or Dustin squaking or Sinead Mulvey singing Etc or Ryan Dolan crooning Only Love Survives ….. none got there ….. only Brian Kennedy, Jedward and Bambi Thug and maybe a couple more were glimmers of hope across a bleak period of no wins spanning near 30 years …..

Most people yesterday did not want Israel in it …… People who watched it said Czech Republic or Australia should have gone in instead ….. others said Ireland and the Party In The Sky should have gone in ….. it was no worse than a lot of the stuff in it and better than some …..

The Eurovision certainly had its moments over the years ….. Dustin was one of them ….. and remember that Icelandic entry where she was performing a song/act where she was after winning it ….. she did not win and then went into a tantrum …… and then there was Lordi in all their glory winning with hard rock ….. and Maneskin later …… but are the glory days of this behind us ??? Is it now just an excuse for sci fi acts and strobe lighting ??? ….. and should countries like Ireland give it a break ??? ….. certainly most people have lost interest in it …… and I can well understand why ….. if Israel won it I'd say it would turn off most ….. their song was nothing special either so cannot really understand why it did so well with some ….. there were stronger more memorable songs that should have beaten it …..

I was making the point, for the first time, that Israel are actually lucky they did not win it, as they would have to host it if they won. 2nd was the best possible result for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,272 ✭✭✭ConcertKing

I have heard it all now!!

If that makes you feel better that your beloved best song was lucky it finished second, that it helps you sleep better at night then cool!!

It finished second because it wasn't good enough to finish first and luck had absolutely nothing to do with it!!

I don't think Ireland will ever win it again ….. I may be wrong but I don't feel we are on the radar of many ….. I miss the more ethnic cultural type songs once quite common in it …. the last few years most songs sounded the same ….. Europop basically ….. One can also say there are way too many countries in it now and it should be split …. there is potential for a lot more members …. look here:

EBU Member Elliptic - European Broadcasting Union - Wikipedia

Anyone in light blue is an associate member and potential future member ….. and most of North Africa are full members as it is !!! …. and the more in it the less chances Ireland will win it again ….. Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Iran, India, China, New Zealand, Japan, South Africa …… even North and South American nations …… all need to have their win ……

Dunno. They played Germany, France, Holland and Belgium last month anyway. I've no idea of the venue sizes though.

Wasn't following it but Graham Norton seems to be getting a lot of flack from some quarters for his comments on Israel.

He said their entry was controversial, and it got a mixed response in the arena

I wouldn’t be surprised if Graham hangs up the Eurovision mic soon.

Rylan and Scott Mills do a good enough job with the semi-finals - get them to cover Saturday night (with Richie Anderson and Sara Cox providing the GF commentary on radio).

They have no right to expand their state like they are currently doing in several directions, also they have no right to enter someone else's territory in order to " defend themselves"

I'm about as far left as Ronald Reagans corpse and I view Israel as a regional menace which is fast becoming a global one

No genuine Irish person who cares for his or her country is pro Israel, Israel is up to it's neck in the international people smuggling industry and all of the NGOs are backed by Israeli proxies

hahahahahahaha, if they are so loved by the rest of Europe, why do they have to play a recorded audience sound when ever they are shown ? the most despised nation on earth
