Got this from a mate on WhatsApp it is doing the rounds -

“Terenure College Rugby Football Club(TCRFC) are delighted to announce the appointment of Former All Black fly half, Carlos Spencer as the new Head Coach of their Senior men's squad on a 3 year contract.

Spencer, an All-Black icon, will take charge of the team this Summer ahead of the 2025/26 season. In a statement he said “Terenure a club with a proud history, passionate supporters and a strong sense of community. I feel very lucky and honored to now be a part of that”

TCRFC also announced that the vastly experienced Paul Barr will be taking on the role of the Club’s Performance Director, working closely with the highly regarded and longstanding Director of Rugby Ian “Moggy” Morgan.

"Carlos was the outstanding candidate following our recruitment process. We believe this is an ambitious and exciting appointment for our Club, the All-Ireland League and Irish Rugby.

Carlos will be welcomed warmly into the Terenure Community and everyone involved with our Club is extremely excited to begin working with him, especially the players.

We are confident that Carlos will bring with him an incredible wealth of knowledge, experience and skill from his professional playing & coaching career and we are looking forward to the journey ahead”

    Paul Candon
    Chairman

That’s a tasty club signing. Well done to Carlos for doing something a bit different.

was told by someone that Carlos on 150 K to coach Terenure between accommodation and salary. Is that not mental? Imagine what players be asking for in that context? Has he any coaching pedigree to support that cost? What would an AIL coach make? Any transfer rumours? Vinson gone from Tarf, Harry O’Riordan to Wanderers, Tom Daly to Lansdowne. Anything else? UCD losing a lot, who’s the new DOR at Trinity? Belvo signing Jordan Coghlan? Maybe Carlos news keeps him there 😂

Ambrose Conboy, former connach academy and irish 20s coach and Tommy Ellard, coach in wanderers for years, new corinthians coaches

Hearing Kev O'F leaving Nenagh for player/coach role with Old Crescent. Mighty loss for Nenagh if true heading into 1A

    Can anyone confirm?

I heard it was UL Bohs. He’s definitely on the move!

was told by somebody high up at the club that Paul Allen is potentially moving to Thomand. Seemingly big cash being thrown at players to come to 2C

By your phrasing you are making an assumption, and to assume makes an ass out of u and me. Mr. Kid.

Well he is not leaving Nenagh and he is not going to Bohs.

I like to deal in facts not assumptions

Hearing rumour around town. Big Kevin Seymour to Shannon. If true Garryowen can’t be too happy.

Is Coghlan to Belvo confirmed? Would be an excellent signing. If Belvo can try get the relationship back with St Michaels they had years ago would go a long way to getting some excellent players in but would imagine it's hard to compete the scholarships at UCD and some larger "benefits" on offer at Tarf, Lansdowne and Terenure.

AIL ref panel for next season released. Up on ulater ref society social media.

can’t imagine Coghlan going to Belvo for the love of the club 😂, AIL is now pretty much professional, I would think Belvo well capable of resourcing players. Couple of Kiwis in their team, and lads I would say cost quite a lot. Big chance for them to get Michael’s link back if Terenure lose it. I thought Vinson heading back to Aus. Some player. Presume Terenure might get some NZ players with Spencer. I think there might be a limit of 2/3 per team? Anyone know?

Yeah absolutely no doubt Coghlan isn’t looking to go there for the love of the club. Belvo well capable alright of sourcing players at senior level.
To my knowledge they don’t currently offer benefits etc to U20s players which some other clubs do, that is more what my post was getting at than at senior level where they have been able to recruit well.

He has gone back to his home club Nenagh.

In Limerick Lee Nicholas is new Shannon DOR, Simon Malone (ex Terenure) gone in as HC at Bohs, and Tagdh Bennett gone from YM.
