    The wiki entry is wild...

"In December 2015 in response to questions about his health, Trump asked Bornstein to issue a "full medical report", predicting that it would show "perfection".[8] Two days later Bornstein signed a letter full of superlatives, saying that Trump's "laboratory results are astonishingly excellent" and that Trump "will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency."[9] In August 2016, Bornstein stated that he had written the letter in five minutes while Trump's limousine waited for it. But he reiterated that Trump's "health is excellent, especially his mental health."[10]

In May 2018 Bornstein said that, in fact, Trump had dictated the letter over the telephone, then sent a car to pick it up.[11] Bornstein said in an interview with CNN that "Mr. Trump dictated the letter and I would tell him what he couldn't put in there..."[12]

Speaking to The New York Times in February 2017, Bornstein revealed that he was invited to and attended President Trump's inauguration with his wife Melissa. Bornstein told The Times that he enjoyed the attention from being known as the President's personal physician.[13] According to Stat, Bornstein had hoped to be the physician to the president, but the White House decided that Ronny Jackson would continue in that role.[14]

On May 1, 2018, Bornstein told NBC News that three Trump representatives had "raided" his office on February 3, 2017, taking all of Trump's medical records. Bornstein said he felt "raped, frightened and sad" over the event. He identified two of the men as Trump's longtime bodyguard Keith Schiller and the Trump Organization's chief legal officer Alan Garten. Two days earlier, Bornstein had told a reporter that Trump took a prescription hair growth medicine, Propecia, after which Trump cut ties with him.[15]

Good on her. Standard practice, AFAIK, was that one couldn't arrest a sought person who was attending court proceedings in a courtroom or its precincts. To do so would have intruded on the courts privileged position of judgement. One had to wait some distance away outside the court building to make the arrest proper. I believe the judge was protecting the inviolability of the court itself; separation of powers and abuse of police authority.

Hillary Clinton breaks silence on Trump’s controversial $400m Qatari jet

"A private contractor would, in all probability, have to rip the plane apart before it was fit for use, and aviation experts cited by NBC News have put the bill at $1bn, more than twice the plane’s worth".

No doubt Donald will look to pay for it from his new crypto sources.

Dr Brackish Okun. I don't know if the name of the Dr [they don't let us out often] from the film Independence Day is an anagram or just made-up.

You could one-up Donnie there by saying that France won the War of 1778 (of which the US War of Independence was just a side-conflict in the grander scale of fighting the British Empire), and yet the Americans should do more to celebrate the French contibution.

Of course that kind of reference would go over Donnies head higher than an ill-gotten Qatari jetliner.

True but don't underestimate the amount of myths most countries hold about it. The French desperate cling to the whole Resistance thing, the Brits think they won it by themselves and the less said about the Russians, the better.

Ironically, only Germany seems to have a sensible view of the whole thing. Well, the west of Germany.

SCOTUS is taking the constitutional birth-right case on today to try and figure out if Trump was right with his EO on limiting the constitution and denying children [of aliens] born in the US the US citizenship [born in the US] right OR if the succession of lower court rulings against Trump and his EO are correct in law [meaning that Trump exceeded the limits of authority that the constitution vested in the president].

The SCOTUS decision may also impinge on the powers of the lower courts to rein in probable abuse or misuse of the presidents authority, particularly where it affects the rights of the average persons living or residing [alien or other] in the US according to the written words in the constitution's 1st amendment.

A unanimous or partial SCOTUS decision on the issue may take some time to be arrived at.

As funny as it is, the most depressing part is that it's the actual DNC who did it, in another act of performative fluff which doesn't actually do anything because they are absolutely neutered and unable to do anything of substance.

How was it disrespectful? Both France and the UK expeditionary force were beaten within 6 weeks. He is right that America does not do celebrations for victory in Europe as it could or even it's victory over Japan.

I'm not saying it should do what the UK and France do which I have always thought is way over top and vastly overstates their contributions to victory. Without the US neither would be celebrating any victories.

It may be undiplomatic to speak like Trump does but there is truth in what he said.

The poster said he was disrespectful.

    He didn't say he lied.

You seem to have gotten in front of your skis once again in your over-anxiousnessness to defend Trump.

I guess they have to try something, no matter how unlikely. If for no other reason that going through the legal arguments will take a while, and perhaps they're hoping to run out the clock until a new administration comes in. The argument itself fails immediately by the time you get to page 2 of the decision where it says no court may examine the President's actions, whereas the actions of a local judge are absolutely subject to examination by the court system. Even if that position is wrong and she does get 'immunity', she will get immunity from state actions and not federal actions. In any case, the grand jury has apparently decided that there is at least a case to answer.

(Why can I not multi-quote from two pages?)

That may have been 'standard practice', but there is no law which covers it that I know of. Even if there were a local or state ordnance, the federal government is a separate legal jurisdiction over which state/local jurisdictions have no authority.

I don't think that the Nazis would have won the war if the US had remained neutral. The Nazi regime was anything but stable and would have destroyed itself even if it wasn't stupid enough to try the one thing that ends in failure 100% of the time: Barbarossa. I think it's more sensible to say that America's entry hastened the end of the conflict through the contribution of its sheer industrial capacity.

Of course, I wouldn't expect the man who can't count the number of world wars to appreciate any sort of nuance like this.

No wonder Trump walked the election. If this book is accurate Biden was a complete mess mentally long before he stood aside.

Jake tapper was constantly on cnn saying there was nothing wrong and it was a republican conspiracy theory that Bidens competence was in decline. Now he's written a book about how bad it was and how it was covered up? Has he owned up to his part in it?

    The whole thing stinks.

The new AF1 planes are currently due in 2027 so not that far away (despite the delays).

The Qatar plane would need to be completely stripped down and rebuilt with huge money being spent on converting it to AF1 spec - Estimates vary from $500M to $1B in terms of cost and everyone seems to agree it would take at least 2 years to do it , if not longer.

Bear in mind that the actual AF1 planes are not new builds , but are existing airframes being converted to meet the specs and look how long that is taking and how much it's costing…

So Trump would likely never actually get to fly in it as President before the official ones come online.

So , under the current plan , the US will take a plane from Qatar , spend up to a billion dollars on making it a luxury flying fortress and then without ever actually using it they will then hand it over to Donald Trump at zero cost.

Which is handy as his current personal jet is due to for the bone-yard at this point - It's 30+ years old and was grounded for years when he couldn't afford to pay to get it fixed , magically the funds to repair it "appeared" when he announced his 2024 Campaign.

Even if they accept the plane and do the conversion work (which is an utterly stupid plan) , what they should be doing is keeping the plane when the new ones arrive. It's the same airframe (747-8i) and could be used as a parts donor for years to come , saving the Federal Government lots of money as those planes are not manufactured anymore and in 5-10 years time , parts will be very expensive and hard to come by.

But that would only be a good idea if the real reason for the deal wasn't to bribe Trump with an expensive shiny toy..

They have a long history of mentally or physically incapacitated Presidents.

Odd for a country that's so obsessed with the health of their Presidents.

They walked the election because enough people felt that the sight of a black woman was far too much to bear ,and they much preferred a convicted felon and known liar.

The US electorate should stop looking for excuses and at least admit that hatred and fear and the driving factors behind their vote.

And yet he managed to *still* be an extraordinarily better option than the current fascist, racist, twice impeached convicted felon.

Btw - Tapper, along with all the other grifters, selling their wares can absolutely do one.

If the US doesn't enter the war the allies can't win with France defeated and Britain neutered. Britain was on life support from the US before the US entered the war. Without those supply lines Britain would have had to surrender.

If the Nazis don't do Barbarossa when they did they would have won in the west and north Africa but the Russian conflict would have come inevitably because it was part and parcel of Nazi ideology to destroy communism.

Where I think Trump and many others are wrong is the assertion we'd all have been speaking German. That doesn't fit with how things panned out because Russia eventually ran riot on the Eastern front. Stalin would hardly have stopped in Germany if the allies weren't fighting on the western front.

I reckon it's more likely we'd all have been speaking Russian if the US had no involvement.

All just fun speculation of course.

Walmart announced they just gonna pass all the tarrif costs onto customers

I reckon it's more likely we'd all have been speaking Russian.

Try not to sound so disappointed @Kermit.de.frog

Excellent, and I hope they make it super clear and easy for everyone to see exactly how much it's adding to the cost.

In reality, they won't because why waste a chance to grow their profits and blame it on tariffs.

The supply chain is so wildly complicated no one would be able to call them on which bits are tariffs and which bits are gouging..

But tariffs are still to blame…

Watch Trump try to spin this as caused by Bidens "inflation" or something..

They have a minimum age requirement of 35 for president,a maximum age requirement of 75 would be reasonable.

So much "if" in this post.

Just to remind you, America entered WW2 after Japan attacked Pearl Harbour, and only after America declared war on Japan, who were allies of Germany and Italy, did they enter into the war in Europe.
