Not a big shock on the night, the vocals were terrible tonight

Hadn't a notion about him endorsing anyone but delighted Tommy Cash got through!Such a toe tapper!

Yeah that seems questionable. Even when Achille Lauro represented San Marino having lost at Sanremo that year, he used a different song than his Sanremo entry.

Fly on the wings of love, never knew it was a cover of a Eurovision song

I can see why Sweden is favourite to win. So far the bar is very very low. Shocked that Belgium were 4th favourite to win and they didn't even qualify. Also one thing that sparked my curoristy. Martin Osterdahl EBU supervisor seemed to be watching the contest from elsewhere and against tradition didn't make any comment before the results 🤔

Maybe they’re going fur a faceless black box voting machine now after the flak last year

We still have a good chance to qualify for Saturday currently our odds of betting through are 50% so it's very even wether we do or not

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,071 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

I’d be surprised if we didn’t

It’s one of our better entries in the last 20 years but that wouldn’t be hard 🤷‍♂️

Well I managed to miss the show tonight but delighted that Portugal and Ukraine made it.

A thing isn't what it says it is.

A thing is what it does.

If tonight taught us anything is to ignore the bookies odds!

For the conspiracy theorists out there the Belgian broadcaster for the second year running broadcast a pro-Palestine ad as part of it's coverage and for the second year running didn't qualify 🤪

I was thinking the same thing. With Belgium so high up the odds of winning and Portugal & Iceland bottom of the qualifying odds I would say the odds mean zilch it would seem

Just saw from Reddit that it was the Belgian singer Red Sebastian's birthday today. Poor guy, that's gotta make the NQ even worse. ☹️ Hopefully someone is buying him plenty of birthday drinks tonight.

Awful tonight. The snippets from Thursday sound a million times better. Sweden only one I liked. Didn't mind Belgium's either

Pretty poor fare tonight, samey samey techo strobe light bombast mostly. Only standouts for me were Sweden & Netherlands. Thursday looks much better.

I thought the vocals were poor at the start but improved as song went on. It was a lot better than some of the crap that went through imo.

A family emergency prevented me from watching last night. I was able to check the results late last night, and overall, I'm fairly happy with them. Belgium not qualifying was the biggest shock, but I have to admit, it was a song I never really got on board with. By all accounts, the vocals were poor at the start, and I guess many people just tuned out at that point. I never liked Croatia, though it's harsh going from winning to an NQ. Cyprus was another song I never really "got" and word from rehearsals was that NQ was possible, so again, no huge shock. Just a few years ago, Cyprus's first win looked like it might be just around the corner, but they've seem to have lost their way.

I don't have time to watch the show back on YouTube, but I did check out the new qualifier announcement. I'll comment on that later, but all I'll say for now is why on earth did they hold Ukraine until last? It meant there was no tension at all because there was no way Ukraine wasn't going through. And why did the Ukrainian singer react so oddly to the news?

Swap Portugal out for Belgium, and I’m happy with last night’s results.

One thing’s for sure - the unpredictability of who qualified and who didn’t tees things up nicely for EMMY tomorrow. 🙂

I really liked the Portugal song….. not very Eurovision I'll admit, but a really nice song.

My OH hates the Estonia song, but I really like it.. (she says he can't sing….. but when has that ever stopped a Eurosong doing well),

She was also reading this morning that the clearly choreographed 'stage invader' bit wasn't planned, and it was a real stage invader, but after watching again, not in a million years was it unplanned……. I guess the story getting out there will do them no harm either way… was already close to 300k streams on YT this morning.

The stage invader was also in the rehearsals, so very much a part of the performance 🙂

At this point in time, I would love Italy to win.
Fantastic song, and the added harmonica (which was not on the record) was a nice touch. 🙂

we both really liked this too..

as he was singing I was thinking very 60's Bob Dylan vibes, and literally at that moment the harmonica came out

Luxembourg's entry this year doesn't stand a chance of winning, but I actually quite like the song. Hope it makes it through to the final, so I think I'll vote for it on Thursday.

Am Yisrael Chai - Bring them home.

I saw Tommy Cash's song yesterday for the first time and his style, hair etc instantly reminded me of Russia's Little Big that were selected to represent Russia in 2020 but never did because of Covid.

I googled and surprise surprise - Tommy Cash and Little Big collaborated together :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,227 ✭✭✭ConcertKing

Such a shame Covid robbed us of Little Big going head to head with Daði Freyr in 2020.

2 absolutely fantastic songs and both would of been worthy winners.

What did people think of the Ne partez pas sans Moi version by those four random singers? I absolutely love that song but didn’t like at all what they did to it. I thought the whole thing was bizarre- I hadn’t a clue who the singers were until they were announced at the end and the whole performance lacked any depth or emotion. It was a completely wasted opportunity.
