Just to add - I think Slovenia might be safe…I don't like it at all, but you can see how how it might get though to people, especially those who might have a loved one who is ill. Plus the staging is impressive, and Klemen is a big name in Slovenia, so he knows how to perform.

After his "endorsement" of Conor McGregor for president the other day, I hope Tommy Cash is on the first flight to Tallinn tomorrow morning.

What channel are people going to watch the Semis on?

BBC1 I think it is 'superfan' Rylan and Scott Mills not Graham :(

Or on RTE2 it is Marty, whose voice gets more and more crackly as the week goes on… at this stage is there no one else over there on the RTE junket who could co commentate?

I can't stand Rylan in anything, and while he calls himself a "superfan", I bet he couldn't tell you who finished third last year or who won in 2019. I have a friend just like him, calls himself a massive Eurovision fan and for the two weeks leading to the contest, plays the entries constantly, has them all over his social media etc., then forgets about them all once the contest is over for the year, and doesn't mention Eurovision again until April the following year.

The advantage with the BBC is no ads, though that means you have to either watch the host broadcaster's filler for the countries without ads or a BBC insert, which are always awful.

Just like a general election, this year there's a Eurovision "exit poll" where a number of fansites came together to ask people their thoughts leaving the arena after last night's dress rehearsal. Here's what 1,600 participants thought:

Obviously, there's no way on earth Ukraine isn't going through, but it highlights how unlike last year, the song isn't good enough to stand alone. If you add Ukraine to the top 10 and take away Estonia, I'd be happy with this as an outcome.

Interesting to see the Netherlands so high, the snippets we've seen so far have been underwhelming people, but it must work for the entire three minutes.

    EDIT: typos

Re. Emmy, keep a close eye on what happens with the likes of Iceland and San Marino this evening. If they qualify, you would think Laika Party is in a great position to qualify i.e. it would mean fun and uptempo is in for the televoters this year.

Fully agree. The dj act falls really flat with nobody else on stage (other than the two weirdly masked guys).

And the Netherlands act can maybe sing or dance but not both.

I really like Clemen - his mashup of previous winners was great- but his song is too wishy washy and I don’t get the upside down thing at all.

I think The Netherlands will be fine to qualify, but will struggle in the televote in the final. Could do really well with the juries if he's much improved.

    Oh…so Marty’s STILL commentating?

Marty will never leave us - just watch him repeating again and again 'don't vote tonight as your vote won't count'! Really looking forward to seeing Switzerland - delighted the song is finally getting the recognition it deserves and going up in the odds.

Interesting that Sweden percentage is about half what Kaariaa and Baby Lasagna had in similar polls after their jury SF rehearsal and I'd argue they had tougher competition. Perhaps a sign that while BBB is popular and could win the televote on Saturday they might not landslide it, I think they'll need at least 350 points in the televote to offset a lower jury score to be in contention.

Switzerland has become a real dark horse. I'm intrigued to see the staging (all filmed on a single camera shot) and what the reaction is afterwards.

Possible. I remember back in 2022, most of the SF1 qualifiers were ballads, which gave me hope that Brooke in SF2 would do well, because if lots of ballads went through on Tuesday, then voters would look to put up-tempo songs through on Thursday to balance things out. Unfortunately, they went for more ballads.

One big difference is that it was 50-50 voting that year and Brooke was 11th in the televote. If all the fun / uptempos go through this evening, I'd say Emmy is a near cert to qualify from SF2. If some of the slow or 'strange' ones like Slovenia, Croatia, Portugal and Azerbaijan qualify instead, then all bets are off.

    Buzzing for tonight 🙌 🤪

I feel sorry for Azerbaijan (not something I say very often), because they're doomed being the first act on after the break. Why couldn't Italy sing after the break, not before? (I assume it's because one of the acts must have big props and the 30-sec gap isn't long enough to move everything.)

Also I really hope Sweden either gets knocked out or does terrible because they will overtake Ireland on wins , currently it's 7 all but Ireland hasn't won since 1996 and Sweden has won 3 times since if I'm not mistaken

    Who’s getting REALLY excited now?

    Definitely excited!

Really looking forward to Albania, Belgium, (apparently the staging is amazing), Cyprus and The Netherlands, who I think will be fine.

My NQ predictions are Croatia, Azerbaijan, Portugal, San Marino and Slovenia (this could easily be subbed out for Iceland but I'm really hoping they come through).

it was a religion in our house for years - what am I saying - decades.

We agreed with Russia being banned after the Ukraine invasion.

We will not be watching this year.

    Do I need say why?

    ok.

    ISRAEL.

I've seen no songs bar ourselves and Sweden. Almost obligatory to have a look at their song!

'Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio? A nation turns It's lonely eyes to you.'

The presenter who sang in 1991 looks well at 56.

Nah to Iceland. Like a late 90s act.
