Oh FFS we have an audience advocate for more public sector primacy, apparently public land should be used for Gardaí & Nurses and other "key workers" so they can have cheaper gaffs and easier commutes.

The workers paying for this…can get fecked.

    Edit: they've now added Teachers!

Perhaps that massive protest during the weekend had an effect after all! Ten seconds of discussion and then quickly move on.

Did someone leave Dan out in the sun?

Would they turf the teachers out of the apartments for the 3 months of the school summer holidays?

"Average pay in the public sector is already 1/3rd higher than the private sector" - Dan O Brien reminding them about their privilges and pensions.

Moreover, imagine housing teachers over the rest of us plebs, and they rent their gaffs out on air bnb for the entire friggin summer.

Holy sh1t even Eoin O broin is not towing the line on public sector workers and is actually pointing out that they already get dedicated credit union help to boot.

Katie "lets have a show of hands who thinks that would be unfair on all the other workers" - bleedin everybody. "OK lets end the show."

    Bwahaha

Katie asked the audience if they agreed with his suggestion. He got 2 votes. And Katie again asked who thought that was unfair, it was a landslide.

Its very telling isnt it. The same group get all the pay and perks and the rest…well they pay for it.

Teachers unions are massive (and includes retirees), ditto with the nurses, there aren't nearly as many Gardai but they are all highly organised. Their voting blocks are the reason so many decisions that are massively unpopular with the public get made with them in mind.

There could be a bit of a standoff between Éanna and MHR tonight hopefully.

You’d have to question seriously FF’s and FG’s bona fides or sincerity on climate. To get into bed with the polar opposite to the Greens to stay in piwer seems bizarre if not reckless.

The UK is to restart drilling again for oil and gas while we do nothing even though it's out there madness .

That forestry producer spokesman is one of the best spokespeople I have seen for any group, articulate, knows his facts and was not for cowtowing to Healy Rae’s shtick…..and he is a volunteer rather than an a paid role

There’s a rip the mic off and walk out moment coming😁😁

I don't have much time for Healy rae but him destroying Eamon Ryan fills me with joy

Nights like this need longer shows. Éanna hardly got a word in which is unusual.

Key workers in Dublin should receive preferential subsidised housing.

Part of the reason there is a shortage of teachers and nurses is because neither can afford to live in Dublin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,244 ✭✭✭purifol0

    1. Public sector on 30% more than private sector - but they are the ones that cant afford to live???
    2. The shortage of nurses & teachers would be solved if they had their benefits removed, such as the ability walk back into your old job after heading abroad for years, and/or pay for your own training instead of the taxpayer. Wanna work in Oz, fine, pay privately to train then. Irish taxes should go towards Irish services.
    3. Most of said "shortage" is caused by mass immigration due to the welfare state.

Absolute Ñ08-€Ñ#. He's the only g0b$h1t€ wearing a hat in the studio(I know they always do). And from an obnoxious family, a classic example of nepotism and some of the pure $h1T€ that's wrong in this country.

This ###### is a minister. What a joke. "We" deserve what we get when clowns like this are voted in and put in charge by another troop of clowns.

The shortage of irish nurses isnt going to be helped by making nurses pay back their traning fees. They will still be on the same salary, which means they can't afford private rent.

You just made rent even more unaffordable for irish nurses, by adding another debt to their monthly outgoings.

How does mass immigration create a shortage of nurses? Surely it would do the opposite, if all the irish nurses are in Oz, as you say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,244 ✭✭✭purifol0

    This oul chestnut

We have the highest amount of nurses per capita in the EU.

Mass immigration because of welfare state policies means more medical card handouts, more public patients and fewer staff (including nurses) to go round.

Funnily enough many nurses are so well paid they dont have to rent as they can afford to buy since they are paid far more than private sector workers whose taxes pay for them. Secondly ending mass immigration welfare policies will mean more available properties to rent/buy for the locals.

Finally the report issued by the previous govt confirmed that the state doesnt have enough nurses was INMO propaganda. That was about 6 years back so it could well dated, but public sector unions have always lied to the public and RTÉ are always happy to help spread it since they too ride the taxpayer gravy train.

The budget office has clearly stated there is a large nursing shortage in Ireland. Potentially 50k more nurses will need to be recruited over the next 15 years and they cant all be delivered from irish colleges in that time frame.

Show me all these nurses that are buying houses in Dublin …I haven't met any of them.

I'm not a fan of these supervised drug facilitates at all

    Basically enabling this addiction

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,854 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

WTF am I listening to from this lad on the panel, from the government, James Lawless? Enabling nonsense. The same with the shifty eyed lad I referenced earlier.

I'm not trying to be insensitive, but this kind of service(injection centres) won't and isn't solving the drug problem. Your man saying they can have a sandwich and a cup of tea after injecting. SMH.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,244 ✭✭✭purifol0

Jesus, we need public rehab centres, according the rep these injection centres are basically about as advanced as a public loo with a toilet attendant.

A big boast of the rep is that when someone overdoses they can call an ambulance!

This another stain on the state.
