This day last year I probably had 5 or 6 cases of strike by now and had clik ordered, was only thinking about it this afternoon

Noticed a dry Hoggett this evening slightly away from rest, was like she was stiff in her back legs while walking.

All I had was Betamox but gave her a strong injection of it…..think it’s possibly something on the brain so hopefully 🤞 that helps…..will take 24 hours for it to do anything really.

Yeah dry and warmish here too and any Ewe's with dirty backsides will be in the firing line

There was a good frost here yesterday morning. I don't know if it'd suit the green fly?

Would Zerofen 2.5% be ok to give lambs for their 1st dose as I have it or would I be better off getting Albex 2.5% for them ?

Also, would it be worth doing the Ewe's as well as some of them have dirty backsides ?

    Tia

The only worms at the moment are Nematodirus if they are over 5 weeks old , which are easy killed so the white wormer is good enough. White wormers aren't much good later in the season on most farms so if you use them later in the season, test the lambs after to see if it worked on your farm. Both of the wormers you mentioned are white wormers and equally effective against Nematodirus.

We never dose our adult ewes, if they are healthy they have immunity to worms, The scouring is due to May grass

Thanks Wrangler - I'll go with the Zerofen so and might give them a mineral dose too while I'm at it. Lambs would be about 8-9 weeks old now and should have been dosed sooner but between one thing and another I didn't get around to it till now.

watched this video last night of the sheep Shepard interviewing another lad down around Kerry direction….

    https://youtu.be/8xQfZJn7-0U?si=ZplPcff4ZStAvkYP

He had texel lambs that were putting on .5kg / day off grass (although he did say they had access to creep for the last few weeks, not sure how many weeks)

Always thought texel were good sheep, didn’t think they were that good - serious results that lad is getting…

Dagging ewes. Do any of ye use headgates to hold the ewes while dagging them? Any recommendations? I've a 12v electric shears but it's limited to the one spot for shearing, not very mobile like the battery handpieces.

any of youz come across barber pole worm known as hoemuncus in your sheep ?
I’ve three ewes here that have bottle jaw and are gone thin, picking up Flukiver in the morning,

Question I have is am I better off to blanket dose the whole flock or just sheep with symptoms?

I never had it but i think if i did i would be dosing the entire flock..if not you could have more showing symptoms the day after

What type of meal feeders do people have for pet lambs? Also do you keep them inside to finish or leave out?
