Unless Dublin win the AI, I reckon Dessie will be replaced by Ger Brennan in the winter.

I'm actually a meath fan so I'm home and rested but I stayed for the celebrations. Delighted for Louth. It's a rare feeling watching supporters in their 60's having tears in their eyes after a lifetime of hurt and near misses.

Have to say I was impressed with the Louth fans after winning. The vast majority were humble in victory and just wanted to enjoy the celebrations rather than goad Meath fans which you'd understand after 2010. But that was the referees fault and nobody else.

I hope today won't be a rare return to the Leinster glory days so I'm proposing we set up a go fund me to pay the Dublin players on the condition they don't take Leinster seriously anymore and focus on the all Ireland!

    An Lú Abú.

Think the performance against Gaway will dictate whether we will beat Derry or not ,going on form to date Galway and Armagh will be very difficult.

So, our footballers might be entering a bleak patch, with prospects for both senior and under levels looking a bit bleak, but we do have to acknowledge that the hurlers are looking ok to good.

Senior team have momentum with three wins from wins over teams that we should be beating, albeit two were relatively poor. Should have some more players back for the rest of the season too.

U20s went to Galway and beat them by seven points, something that I don't think many would have said they were capable of.

Fair play to them, I'd love to see both go much further this year.

I’m going with the family to the match. Really not expecting much as I saw nothing in the last two games that would make me think we will put a meaningful glove on Galway.

Kick-outs and challanging for kick outs needs to be sorted. Need to find a player or two for 2 pointers, Kilkenny won’t be scoring many from midfield.

And the lack of composure , coupled with poor decision making is costing us even against lower division teams.

Honestly, I could see us getting a drubbing if they haven’t washed away the cobwebs of the last 2 games.

Anybody any tips in parking near or getting out of Pearse stadium ? Was thinking of going to the cinema after the game instead of rushing home but I would end up being home after midnight!

A few pointers regarding parking is on the Res Dubs site ,going to be extra busy with nice weather and Saturday shoppers etc about, will have to leave earlier than usual to get close enough to the ground .I would expect and hope there will be a couple of changes to the named team as massive improvement needed don't think we can do enough to win .

It'll be extra busy in Salthill because of the beach and the sunshine so parking could be extra difficult. If you're there in the afternoon you could do worse than chance the main carpark across from Lonergans and Killorans pub in Salthill. It's a free public carpark, there'll always be somebody leaving from walking the prom or leaving the beach.

Other than that, parking along the promenade is as handy as anywhere if you can get a spot. Or leisureland, it's a paid carpark and just down from Pearse stadium.

Not sure yet what schools in Salthill are open for parking. Sometimes they haven't, it's head wrecking when they don't.

Jayus I don’t don’t know which is worse basic parking problems in Salthill or the basic problems with the dublin team! Expecting the Galway midfield to have a free run Conroy 35 and will likely make a show of Dublin, plus Dubs looking for parking to get bottled up.

Worst place in the country to have built a stadium. It used to be a Bogland, the Galway CB got it cheap and filled it in.

I was told by a Galway relation that approaching the stadium via westside in Salthill would be the smarter move traffic wise as the promenade (prom) side will be manic. I better start making the hang sambos now to be good and early!

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Id avoid the quincentennial bridge, it can be clogged and there's traffic lights all the way to Salthill that are slow even in light traffic. Drive through town-drive past thermo king in mervue, straight on to Eyre Square, over by cathedral where you'll take a left after the bridge to bring you to mill street Garda station, then aim for shantalla road and you can take a left off that up towards Taylor's Hill road. Hopefully guards there can advise what schools are open for parking just off that road.

Park at the train stations in Oranmore (free) or Athenry and take the train into Eyre sq. Walk out to stadium, about 30 mins. Quite a nice walk on a fine day. You'll be guaranteed to spend at least 30 minutes both ways stuck in traffic if driving across to Salthill, especially after the game.

Hard to know what to expect tomorrow. Tomas O'Se in some stellar analysis on the RTE podcast gives Galway a right chance of beating Dublin, no sh!t!! 🤣

I hope Dublin play well, they need to up their game massively, the Team/Squad announced doesn't have Murchan or Bugler who are losses, Madden and O'Donnell are absent too. Midfield is a huge issue for Dublin.... I expect a Galway win but hoping I'm wrong.

Planning to head down early as soon as the sports are finished which is around 11. Hopefully down by 2ish. Try and park somewhere handy to get on the road after the game

My preference is improved kick out winning against and own. None of this stopping o when on a break. Yes I’m looking at you ciaran. Stop the sloppy stuff

I can see Galway winning by a few but just that few always ahead

    Not a chance.

While they were woeful against Meath, I saw enough in some of the league games, to think they can reach the knockout stages.

A bit of a wind blowing down the pitch from city

Seán Bugler comes into the team & will wear number 6, replacing John Small. Alex Gavin, Sean MacMahon, Killian McGinnis & Cormac Costello all start. They replace Conor Tyrrell, Cian Murphy, Tom Lahiff & Niall Scully.

    Paddy not starting also

the heat hear in Pearse stadium is something else. Could be some heavy legs near the end of its intense.

All I am asking is Dublin make it a bit of a game and show something that can give us a bit of hope. Decent performance and within 4 points of Galway would be acceptable for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,872 ✭✭✭MFPM

Dublin doing OK, Bugler adds so much to the team, Killian McGuinness playing well to. Basquel guilty of some poor wides - hope they don't come back to bit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,649 ✭✭✭dobman88

Dublins demise greatly exaggerated. One bad day in a gale against Meath, who were clinging on at the end, doesn't define a team.

They will always be there or thereabouts come championship

And now they have the breeze in the 2nd half. This could get messy for Galway

Meath match was a serious kick in the hole might of woken us up here a bit. What I've seen of first half we look a lot more relaxed and composed. Kick outs are much better lads winning ball well in middle. Keep it up in second half Galway can only improve so we will see how it goes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,277 ✭✭✭✭How Soon Is Now

Big improvement from Dublin so far but Galway haven't looked great at all they have to get better surely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 949 ✭✭✭Dogsdodogsstuff

I was at Wicklow and meath games and neither suggested Dubin had this in the locker. The 8 point win against Wicklow was flattering. League form of course showed more promise but feels like this is as much Galway haven’t shown up yet as Dublin have been well unproved. Not sure how strong the wind is playing a role outside of the two pointers.

Still very poor decision making up front , bad decision wides and not shooting when there was clear chances.

Kickouts making all the difference in both ends, competing and winning breaking balls makes a massive difference.

Thats how quickly things can change!
