apparently we have played the Dubs already so that’s why the decision was reversed.

Laois v KK May 14 7.30 Portlaoise. Confirmed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,300 ✭✭✭Marrooned

Very few teams get there chance of redemption underage, hopefully our lads can against Laois next Wednesday night. Laois are actually progressing better than Offaly and are progressing well underage whereas Offaly had only the one good team.

Another huge setback for Offaly, Adam Screeney out with an ankle injury suspected fracture.

Not surprised to hear that, he was in discomfort for the whole game after he was injured, could barely run. Mad they left him on

Very exciting Munster u20 hurling semi final with Clare winning 2-15 to Cork's 0-20. Very high standard of hurling. Fair play to ref for giving frees for throw balls. Cork unlucky as I felt they were slightly the better team but hit 3 late wides.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 425 ✭✭Krazy gang

I thought cork were far better team. 6 or 7 goal chances but great goalkeeping and defending. Cork free taker very good player. Hard to see clare beating tipp.

Kilkenny laois in portlaoise next week Thought kilkenny would have a home game.

Laois have a very good minor team this year too.

Be intersecting to see how they do v Wexford at home this weekend.

Big game next Wednesday night for players and management. Most expected that winning u20 crop to at least get to leinster final but unfortunately couldn't get past the leinster semi final on both occasions. As we know laois beat kk at minor when derek mcgrath was involved. Their round robin form wasn't great but when the results don't really matter and theres no consequences for losing round robin games its hard to read too much into it. What they will have is momentum and a home venue which should be worth a few points. It will all depend how kk managed the long lay off but this is management's third year in this situation so I'd expect no stone was left unturned for having the players right for next Wednesday. The break was welcomed for a few lads returning from injury. Imo they are still trying to find their best team. Ivan bolger was under pressure against dublin and I think he is better suited in the corner with maybe verker full back. Eoghan lyng is hurling fierce well at 6 getting up and down the field. Neary is one of the best prospects we have i think. Hopefully macdermot can back up his last performance where he was outstanding. Himself and marty will hopefully make senior hurlers for kk it's a while since we brought through big strong ball winners who can hurl. Best of luck to all.

Offally coming to town this weekend won't get the heart racing and the couple of defeats for them will probably take the wind out of their sails. They struggled against galway because there was a bit of pressure on them at home but there's no pressure on them this weekend and id say they will be better. It will be a big step up for them alright heading into kk but kk will just want to get the 2 points and move on without injuries. KK have travelled this route many times and don't have to get up for every game like Munster. Kk dont talk about winning leinster finals. Its all about winning the leinster final and making a push for the all ireland. They got caught against cw this time last year and antrim had them in trouble at times granted in corrigan park. Dublin had us on the ropes away last year and even 2 years ago it wasn't convincing at home to Dublin. I'd expect the offally match to be closer than people expect

Mullen and blanchfield took part in training last weekend and lyng will want to get gametime into the legs especially Mullen who has missed alot of hurling. We probably won't see much experimenting it will be more or less the same as the last few days. Molloy and Stephen donnelly have being very positive and although he didn't go well the last day mackessy has had a few good games and his long range free taking is excellent.

While I can't realistically see Kilkenny losing I can see this match being sticky if Kilkenny go in half powered or half brained. It's a historical fact that underestimating Offaly teams doesn't end well. Physically we may have a significant advantage but Offaly are well drilled in the modern game and have a number of fine players with good futures ahead of them. When they face Kilkenny, a bit like Wexford, they end up being greater than the sum of their parts and even over recent years my impression was that they've put it up to us. Ultimately based on their history their expectation is to be able to beat us.

I can't see anything but another very comfortable Kilkenny win on Saturday. Offaly are a bit off the top teams and I'd imagine Lyng has eradicated that laziness that showed in the home league games v Tipp and Galway. Kilkenny are 1/25 for a reason, handicap is 13 points and I'd say we'll beat that.

Big game for the 20's next Wednesday. Laois aren't bad but given the fact Galway gave them a big beating, If Kilkenny are to have any aspirations of winning an All Ireland they'll need to be winning that comfortably as well.

Kilkenny have a realistic chance of Leinster titles at Minor/20/Senior. Be a big boost if we could do all 3, I'd say it's been a while.

Anyone know if the camogie girls are going to join cork and waterford Sunday week and wear shorts in the leinster final

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 kilkenny123456

id say it will depend on how the cork waterford match goes re the skorts first before they decide

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 170 ✭✭hogans heroes

Looks Like the skorts are dead in the water.games abandoned in meath and dublin leagues played in shorts.association trying to have a meeting on the 22nd but looks like munster and leinster finals won't be.played unless the move now.thw horse has bolted

Camogie Association are an absolute disaster admin/common sense wise, the fact the whole issue has got to this point is crazy.

Its no harm to freshen up the panel each game keeps lads on their toes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,607 ✭✭✭Village87

Team looking ok, only concern is the lack of pace, Billy Ryan has become our most important forward as he is the only forward with pace that can hurt a team.

On the Skort issue what is wrong with Skorts ? I see Wimbledon etc they wear them and no fuss. Maybe i am a traditionalist but i don't see the issue with them, am i missing something ? The Camogie women kicking up some fuss

Great to see blanchfield back..surprised to see tj back but it will be great to get some game time into him ..mullen in the subs is positive too..he needs to get a spell free of injury for us to compete with the bigger boys hopefully later in the summer.

Realistically with the injuries offaly have and the amount of lads that were involved with the u20s and have had a lot of matches we should be winning this at our ease ..in all likelihood they will be dropping out of leinster again this year..unless davey does them a favour and gets antrim relegated

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,371 ✭✭✭JJs Left Hand

Do you have to wear them? If women want to wear shorts let them wear shorts. This is a complete no brainer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,253 ✭✭✭Billy Ocean

All I know is over 80% of intercounty camogie players surveyed want the option to where shorts which says it all, and from what I gather nearly all players where shorts training and camogie players who also play football or soccer where shorts in those sports.

Lads why is Eoin Cody not on the panel for tomorrow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 kilkenny123456

As someone with a daughter playing camogie and who’s involved with camogie in my club, I have never seen someone wear a skort to training or a challenge match. Just let them have the option to wear either. It’s an issue very easily solved.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,677 ✭✭✭me89

Heard him and Richie Reid are injured but not sure how bad

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,677 ✭✭✭me89

The players don't want to wear them and that's all that matters, tradition isn't necessarily a good thing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 kilkenny123456

I heard hamstring injury but not from a good source

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,153 ✭✭✭Ceist_Beag

There's a real disconnect in an organisation where the views of over 80% of the members are not proportionately represented in AGMs. That's the real issue here. Maybe those who rejected the motion to make this change last year will be embarrassed enough by this fiasco to listen better to their members in the future. You can only hope.
