**** let Jordie kick it if Sam wasn't up to it

I'm at a loss here. I could forgive the lack of leadership in the previous final losses as a learning opportunity. But today is a joke. Decision making and leadership all day was at amateur level. I'm sick of it at this stage.

This team can be arrogant but can’t back up the arrogance. Absolutely bottled it today.
I don’t know what needs to change to get over the line. Just seem to be the nearly men.

More money required for Leinster to get to the next phase now. Leo has to go. That will leave scars. Decision to tap and go at the end baffling. Absolute arrogance. Another season and no 5th star and further and further away.

They picked the right team but they can’t play the game. Some dreadful performances prefer not to slate those who will be in maximum pain.

The team that was picked and lost last week made me nervous about this semi final. A lack of cohesion today whilst Northampton beat Bristol with a fully stacked team last week.

Questions to be asked for sure.

It wasn't just a bottle job, it was also stupidity.

In the 76th minute we had a penalty where if we kicked it it's 37-37 and it's extra time. In the 80th minute we had another penalty where we can make it 37-37 but this time Northampton would be down a man in extra time. Like it's not the easiest kick, but you simply have to play percentages and back your kicker to make the 3.

The one on 76 mins is unforgivable. Absolutely gutted, so frustrating.

There is a systemic problem at Leinster. You can't be that close and/or unlucky that frequently without there being a serious issue underlying the team.

Two chances to tie the game turned down is f*ckîng arrogant beyond belief. We didn't deserve to win.

Absolutely criminal in a sporting context. Unearned arrogance.

Ultimately the man at the top will take the blame after another year of failure (stupidity for not taking the 3 is another new one). I'm fairly certain Leo will step aside now. The question is who will come in?

The next few weeks defines Leinster's medium to long term future. They simply need to win the URC to just get a winning feeling again. If they can't, despite the large lead at the top and better squad, they never will.

They're firmly in that Clermont territory where when a game is close it feels like they're not just playing against the opposition, but also their own losing history. And they seize up and make errors. They made so many handling errors they would not have made 99/100.

I think this is a big thing. Leinster always keep the big names out just before big game in either the urc or European cup and they seem to be half baked. Momentum is such a big thing

the penalty at the death really was a 50/50 kick had they gone for it and Leinster had scored 2/2 taps so I understand that call somewhat. That said, the position of that penalty made the tap and go much harder as there was such a narrow blindside, Northampton knew Leinster would have to go to the open side.

The earlier penalty around 76 minutes is unforgivable though. Percentage wise that’s a very high probability of going over. Get level and worry about winning the game after that.

It seems a recurring theme to be talking about bad decision making by Leinster in big moments.

I honestly dont understand it. A second string goes to SA and plays well. They back it up at home. The teams on a roll and then............... Why?

    ROG for leinster

Itoje would have taken the three. I find him hard to stomach, but he's got to captain the Lions rather than Doris after that.

Leinsters leadership went to pot once Doris came off

    absolute shite

Snyman and Big Joe were so poor in the first half. Rather than looking to establish gainline, they would immediately look to offloads? They need to be running over teams with their size.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,356 ✭✭✭OldRio

I'm pretty sureDoris wasn't on the pitch at the time

it was Conan captain at the time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,219 ✭✭✭hold my beer

Conan was shouting to the bench about what to do. I don't think he got an answer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,356 ✭✭✭OldRio

It was an odd decision indeed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,883 ✭✭✭LostArt

And to top this **** off I've to watch Spurs inevitably **** up a Europa semi final on Thursday night

Felt the maul was a better call there. High chance Northampton infringe defending it. Throw to 2 and drive. Make them compress to create space for the man advantage.

It isn't. Conceding five tries is not a sign of a world class defence. There's no argument there.
