Valentia reporting 23c at 11am. Impressive!

Quite a few other stations at 20c and over at 11am.

A rather patronising last comment there, don't you think. Just because some people perceive weather differently doesn't mean they have "crazy expectations." I wouldn't be so dismissive of my fellow boardsie commenters, not very nice.

Another stunning day in Tralee, really enjoying the spell.🤩

Glorious weather. I'd take an April like this every single year despite the 3rd week of wet weather. 2 weeks of blue skies and bone dry conditions to start. 1 week of warm dry sunny weather to finish. The growth is indeed explosive now. The Emerald Isle indeed!

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

An amazing day, 23C now in Meath which was achieved I think once last summer at my location. If only this was end of July or beginning of August we could be chasing 33C again.

When people complain about a month being cold/bad, when it was the hottest on record, it's not patronising to call out the inaccurary of it.

This is supposed to be a (scientific) weather forum. So I like to deal in facts and statistics about the weather. Not "perceptions". Sorry if that bothers you.

And most Irish people do have crazy expectations. We seem to collectively forget every year how poor Irish summers are.

The average April high in Ireland is about 12º. In May it's 15º. Yet people will expect much, much higher.

23.3c in Sligo n some cloud blocking sun so if that wasn't there 25c very possible now.

Already in the top 5 warm April days of all time.

Balmy 15.8c in Greystones. Can't shake off the influence of the Irish Sea that easy!

May will be a bit cooler for the first 10 days. A lot of NW and N winds but not much rain. Probably 10 to 15c so not too bad. At 6pm in Sligo the W NW wind sets in and temperature starts to fall. 24.2c now though.

I think perhaps some people having higher expectations for higher temperatures nowadays is the fact that our climate is warming and therefore people are becoming used to these higher temperatures. Last summer for example while far from great, temperatures I think we're around average by the 1960 - 1990 average but below average for the 1990 - 2020 average. How many days in recent yrs have been above the 1960 - 1990 average I would presume the majority. (Though obviously of course the 1990 -2020 average is higher for that reason)

Wind must have shifted offshore. Now 20.0c and rising (in Greystones).

Some people like to think their view is always the correct one, I guess, and just have to be right.😏

    Enjoy the beautiful weather! 😀

placed a digital thermostat (measures humidity and temperature inside my house for me!) in a shaded part of my garden (granted a bit of a sun trap). Reading 25.4 degrees and 36% humidity. Gorgeous

    A few 25c's at 3pm.

Valentia, Newport, Athenry and Mount Dillon.

    Impressive!

Back down to 16.5c in Greystones.

The April record is very much at risk of being broken today so as peak heat tends to be in the 4 or/and 5pm reports. Also 25° at my location on the longford side of Mount Dillon work mid Level convection building now.

And before today, 25.0C or greater has been achieved only twice before in the month of April in Ireland. Both of those were at one single station (Glenties Hatchery) in April 1984 including the national record!

And, as far as I am aware, some entire years in the past have not seen 25c!

My closest station reading 25c , it's hazy sunshine here in carrick, some showers and thunderstorms will break out I'd say from 5pm onwards , hopefully I hear a few rumbles of thunder ⛈️

Huge drop on temperature here around Tralee since cloud started to build. Was over 26C for a time at my site.

Big temperature contrast across the country tomorrow. Possibly only 12c for some northern parts, possibly double that in places in Leinster and Munster.

The northern half of the country will start out cloudy with some patchy drizzle in the far north but sunnier conditions will spread from the northwest for the afternoon. Feeling cool with highs of 12 to 17 degrees in northerly breezes. Elsewhere across Leinster and Munster it will be mostly sunny to begin. Cloud will build further for the afternoon, with some scattered showers breaking out, which will possibly be heavy and thundery, especially across southern counties. Highs here of 18 to 23 or 24 degrees in light northerly winds.

    3 25c Met Stations at 4pm.

I find later, post 4pm, highest temperatures are recorded more so from mid June to early September. Late Spring days peak more around 3pm. Just my own observation over the years.
