Tomorrow's record April temperature could be challenged let's see if the 25.7c will be beaten

Lovely day in West Clare, if only it wasn't so cloudy.

In some ways it seems crazy that Dublin Airport has only recorded 20º in April six times before. And we'll likely get a seventh tomorrow.

But it just goes to show how we really need to temper our expectations as to how warm it can get in Ireland, particularly in spring (but really at any time of the year).

Some people seem to think April should bring us a week of 20º temps and will complain about the cold if we don't get it - when we haven't managed even a week of it in 80 years.

Today I see Kerry had the warmest spot with 22.5c

Fabulous weather and not a word around here from the usual moaners the first wet day we get,Close to 20c and lovely hazy sunshine

I made this point last week, I've lived in a few places around the country and find Dublin noticeably colder in the spring months than anywhere else. Today is a very rare example of a nice sunny spring day that doesn't have a stiff easterly breeze taking a few degrees off the temperature.

Stunning day though, lovely and warm and the sun is still weak enough that it's not overpowering sitting in direct sunlight. Perfection!

Beautiful sun halo in Sligo today. Anyone else see it. Wer nearer the Atlantic so maybe it was just in NW areas.

We struggled to get temperatures this good throughout last summer!

I absolutely agree gonzo was shocking last summer 😞

I've not met a single person who expects a week of 20C in April in Ireland, not one. Nor anybody complaining of cold because of not getting 20C in April. So a bit of an exaggeration don't you think!

    A stunning day in Tralee.😍

Well like most of us I was in work today but at least I could skip in today with my summer clothes and sunglasses😎

I was up in attic at 10pm last night dragging down the first of summer clothes😁

    Lovely skies this evening

Please - we had people on here complaining retrospectively about June 2023 and it was the warmest on record.

Last May people were complaining about the cold and the atrocious start to summer and it was also one of the warmest on record.

Many people on here have crazy expectations.

Well you're by the sea so there will be a nagging breeze unless the wind is onshore - which it rarely will be if HP is settled over us.

However temps over 20º aren't that common elsewhere in Ireland either in April I'd imagine.

Maybe Sryan has stats on the number of >20 days for all the main stations going back a few decades?

Thanks Robwindstorm. Don't know where it is from but grilled Salmon indeed…on a bed of local Samphire!

Lovely slow ending day and still light in the sky and that lovely crescent moon, still very mild here at 15.8C

Amazing spell of weather, it would be welcome any summer, unfortunately our summers can be a bit of a let down for many if looking for good long spells of dependable dry warm weather, a lottery if planning a local holiday , been some unusually dry and mild settled warm weather this Spring, complete lack of Gales and and any hint of a Storm for some time since Éowyn.

With weather like this the memory of the wet days last week just disappear.

Could be warmer again tomorrow with some local convective showers and will see if it kicks off any thunderstorms.

Beautiful crescent moon low to the NW. Super day.

Tomorrow we will likely get a 24c but I think the 25.6c or 25.7c record is safe for another year. I'd say we would need a day like tomorrow followed by another one to break it but winds swing to the North Thursday so 22c is the highest that day....and it's May.
