Trumps approval rating after 100 days is the lowest of any president in the last 70 years. What a hero.

Trump: “He had MS-13 on his knuckles tattooed.”

    Moran: “That was photoshopped.”

Trump: “Terry, you can’t do that. Hey, they're giving you the big break of a lifetime. I picked you. But you're not being very nice.”

Such a pathetic, petty, whiney little...

Incredible that he thought they were actually written on the hand. The interviewer should have said "labelled" instead of "photoshopped" to try and make Trump understand. The numbers and letters weren't meant to look real as in "photoshopped".

    There are two options here.

    1) he thinks they actually are tattoos, in which case he's an idiot

    2) he knows they aren't and is just insisting they are, in which case he's a f**king shameless liar

Based on the video, I think it's definitely #1. I wonder who handed him that photo with the labels and omitted to tell him they weren't actual tattoos.. Like someone gave him that, saw that he thought the wrong thing, and decided not to tell him and just let him run with the lie.

No doubt he believes in his own infallibility.

Unfortunately, I'd say this is more like his Hurricane map, where he just drew on a map of a hurricane path with black sharpie to cover an area he said the hurricane might hit after it was pointed out to him it wouldn't.

It's not about the truth, it's about providing something he can point to, say it's real, half of his dingbat supporters will believe it because they won't even look at the picture but instead will believe whatever Trump et al says, and just disparage/threaten anyone who questions it and say they're lying (which again, his dingbat supporters will then believe the reporter or whoever is lying to try make Trump look bad).

It's not about truth, it's about propagating Trump's version as being the truth.

Trump probably saw the image with the MS13 written on it because they were trying to suggest his actual tattoos represented those letters and numbers, and they just decided that as that was already released publicly, to just say he actually has MS13 tattooed on his fingers.

In this new way of doing politics, I’m not sure Trump or MAGA actually care- they disregard the press that criticise them - they disregard the courts who penalise them - so why should they care what the public think of them?

The midterm elections will be interesting - will the sheep still vote in the numbers they’ve done previously or will they switch horses? My money is on they’ll stick with MAGA- they’re brainwashed at this stage

A video depicting Americans working in Chinese style sweat shops.

Ironic, to put it no higher, that Trump supporters would post this on YouTube in order to complain about "Liberals" sharing it on social media. Have they no self-awareness?

Thought this originated in China. Speaking of physical specimens working in the US, I give you Steven Cheung, Spokesattackdog for the CFTrump administration:

A former PM of Canada jokingly said that they could join, but with an expectation that each of the 13 provinces/territories of Canada would need to be made into an individual state.

And that those states would likely lean very heavily towards the Democrats style of governing, as Canadians would not be happy to give up free medical, social support, etc...

So it would swing the house/senate/presidency massively in favour of the democrats

That's what I was thinking too (as a funny hypothetical rather than something which should or would actually happen). Trump keeps saying Canada should be the 51st state. The f*cking size of Canada… It's a little bit bigger than the entire USA. Fair enough, only has about 10% of the population, but then still has 1000% the population of some of the red states.

Someone should put it to Trump that would he accept Canada joining if they were 13 new states rather than just one, and get 2 senators per state, reasonable electoral college votes and House seats. See what the art of the deal looks like then.

Have to say it’s great seeing how Canada is sticking up for itself - it’s just such a pity that we have to go external from the US, before we see clear and credible opposition to what America is doing - absolutely nothing happening inside America of any significance to counter the current regime - neither media nor politics nor people are making any impact

If I were attribute any meaning or intelligence to what Donnie has been saying about Canada (and we'll come back to that issue in a second) I'd suggest that the intention was to make Canada into a single US State with just 2 senetors and the Electoral votes of one of the larger states (Canada has just a couple million more people than California). It would torpedo the GOP's chances in The House (assuming that Canadian liberal parties would caucus with the Dems), but not hurt the GOP too much in The Senate. It would however make GOP presidential runs harder with another large deep blue state in the running.

But that all depends on this being anything more than Donnie bleating out sound-bytes in order to sound "strong" or "presidential". As I tend to repeat, Donnie does not have a plan. Any plan. He does not have policies either. The whole Canada thing is likely little more than a political crutch to lean on when his other schemes blow up in his face.

    • Tariffs gone badly? Let's talk about Ukraine then!
    • Ukraine Peace deal going nowhere? Let's talk about Immigration!
    • Immigration is turning into a highly unpopular nightmare? Let's talk about Elon and DOGE!
    • Oh…Elon and DOGE are pointless & everyone hates them? How about we talk about Canada being the 51st State?
    • Talking about Canada being the 51st State has handed the Liberals a win and has triggered a grass roots boycott of US goods. Erm….have we talked about Tariffs?

not sure how true it is but friend in US years ago when i asked why the prices at petrol stations had half a cent per gallon granularity (eg 2.75 1/2) he said “oh that’s half cent Obama tax for roads”

Right now if you go to Amazon international section on Amazon.com by time you get to checkout you see they clearly show the delivery and import taxes if it’s coming from US, Americans never seen the reverse of that

One already in shops there and get prices without local sales taxes only to get a surprise at till

The smart retailers should be transparent with shoppers, I suspect it will start as a slow trickle and then avalanche and then Trump tax would be a thing which cause Americans to cringe

Oh Trump would definitely only want Canada to be counted as one state for the reasons you say. Even just adding two senators from Canada would put the Senate on even more of a knife edge in most elections. But that's why Trump should be pressed more on if it'd be such a huge boost to the US to have Canda join as a state due to financial benefits, getting rid of that artificial line on a map between them or whatever nonsense he spouts (yet he doesn't seem to have the same opinion towards the artificial map line separating the US from Mexico) etc, would he let Canda join as 13 new States rather than one?

Because all of a sudden, whatever financial benefits he thinks the US and Canadian citizens might have, will pale in comparison to the political disaster it would be for the GOP for decades. At the very least though, putting that to him and making him answer that might quell his rhetoric on it for a while.

You're missing the point. Trump wants Canada as the 51st state because that way it'll be part of the country while its voice will be drowned out due to only having a tiny voice in the federal government. If it got 13 states, it would make up almost a fifth of the federal government.

Trump ultimately wants to do to Canada what he's done to numerous women, allies and the American public: Strip it and sell it.

It definitely shows how much the GOP voter use a comparison value [our president V Democrat President] as the marker on how well they are doing in the US each day, day to day or month to month, when asked how they are doing, instead of how much their dollar is buying them at a household subsistence level on an ongoing day to day basis under Trump's admin. It would be great if his lies came home to roost before the next state, senate and congress elections take place.

similar to Brexit in the UK. It’s difficult to argue passionately for moderate policy.

Yesterdays clown moment. This clown thinks China will pay the tariffs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,566 ✭✭✭✭Penn

No I completely get that. My point is that Trump is claiming his reasons for wanting Canada to become their 51st state are that the US can't continue financially supporting Canada through their trade, there's no need for a border between their countries, and it'd be a benefit to both countries if Canada became part of the US. So it should be put to Trump that if there are all these benefits, would he accept Canada joining if they joined as 13 new states rather than one. Then the facade of what a benefit it would be to both countries would be dropped, because the only difference between Canada joining as one state versus joining as 13 states would be the fact it would be politically disasterous for the GOP in terms of vote share.

I mean, it's an idea that shouldn't be entertained to begin with for a vast multitude of very simple reasons, but I'd just like to see Trump trying to defend his plan while showing he'd put the GOP over these supposed great benefits to both countries. It would definitively highlight that Trump's wants regarding Canada would be for exactly what you say; stripping Canada down to the bone and forcing all the healthcare, insurance, control of education, deregularisation etc onto Canadians and Canadian businesses rather than making them a true part of the USA.

Isn't it also funny how he's pushing to get rid of that imaginary border on the land mass and make Canada the 51st state, but doesn't seem to care about that imaginary border at the south and making Mexico the 52nd state???

The Director of the Economic Council doesn't understand tariffs. Or lying more likely.
