In fairness though in a lot of soaps they seem to forget it's not the 1800's and you can do the likes of Galway to Dublin and back in 4 1/2 hours so throw in a few more to meet, kill and bury Laura and get home again and just say you met friends after work is why you are late home. The rest does need explaining though, the messages should have been seen after saying they were getting access to the records.

It's hardly possible Laura banged her head on the flight and then died after meeting Mark and he panicked? I just heard Mark mention turbulence in the preview for the next episode. Now that would be a twist but highly unlikely.

Don't expect anything from life, just be grateful to be alive.

Was Laura's phone not analysed, her texts with Mark would show up and why was it Laura Croatia in Mark's phone, had Laura a different number to use in Croatia

That's exactly what I thought. Are we missing something here..

Did Gwen tip off Fidelma also about Tyler's wardrobe wall too as Buckley looked at it, first and fast

In fairness though, it's probably a more private setting than the solicitor's office.

If Tyler ended up in jail with a miscarriage of justice you'd have no sympathy. He's manipulating, game playing, acting the pseudo psychologist and thinking he's so clever for so long. He flew too close to the flame.

The Halpins are a tragic dysfunctional family.

I remember Marty killing Tess so well in Spring 2003. He had 9 year old Mark in the car and was about to drive the 2 of them over some cliff. Tess had black hair and Luke Kelly's version of Raglan Road came on the radio at one point 'that her dark hair might weave a snare that I might one day rue'. That very verse. Mark didn't get a great start.

Damien was beaten by his father too. He tried to stand up to him in 2003 but to no avail.

And of course in 2010 Damien was the victim of Suzanne's abuse. At first no one believed him and the talk was he was like his father.

Mark was a vicious little runt, involved with the, non Clerical, Bishops, beating Suzanne in revenge and having his father's temper.

Damien's temper seemed only underneath the surface many times. He lost it in jail etc.

Now, the most adjusted, if exercise mad annoying, member of the family, Laura, appears to be killed by her brother.

The females, Tess and Laura, being the real victims. Though it hasn't been all one way traffic, with Suzanne abusing Damien.

Looks like from the preview of the next episode that the 'real' killer will be revealed pretty sharpish.

Ok, say it takes 2.5 hrs from Galway to Dublin, that's still a 5 hour round trip. Mark got to Dublin around 7pm judging by the texts but he still hadn't collected Laura as she was just after getting the 7pm aircraft. Mark said he'd pick her up at Drumcondra, so presumably that's at least another 15 mins at the earliest before he'd get to her or the Aircoach would get to drumcondra from the airport. If he collected her at 7.15pm and, since Carrigstown isn't real, let's say it only took 15mins to get there from Drumcondra. Mark and Laura are in Carrigstown by 7.30pm on 11th Jan 2024. If Mark suggests they stop near the park and walk through the park and for some bizzare reason Laura agrees despite there always being parking outside the front of Spar where Damien lives it's probably at least 7.40pm when Mark kills her there. He then has to find a shovel (unless be brought one in the boot of his car), dig a shallow grave in hard winter soil, change his clothes and dispose of his old ones somewhere. How long would it take for all that? Even if he did it quickly I still couldn't see him getting back to Galway before midnight. Itd be more likely he checked into a hotel or somewhere he could shower and sleep and then go back to Galway the next day. But whether he returned to Galway on the night or stayed in Dublin overnight, it still begs the question of what Elaine thinks he was at? If went back straight away he'd surely be fairly stinky and dirty/dishevelled from digging a grave. If he arrived back the next day she'd want to know where he was and any local alibi in Galway would surely be easily rumbled. Unless Elaine is in on it, there's a few plot points that need to be addressed.

The Gardaí are also being portrayed as very incompetent if they haven't looked into the family members in any in depth detail. Even if Laura's Croatian phone was a dead end, surely if they looked into Damien and Mark's alibi's for the night she was killed something would come to light. I'd find it very difficult to believe Mark didn't use his debit card at some point on the night whether it was for tolls , fuel, buying a shovel, possibly checking in somewhere to have a shower etc. What was Mark's alibi for the night? It can't have been Elaine unless she's in on it as she'd know be wasn't at home. I suppose Elaine could have been away on a hen or something but Mark would still have needed to get a babysitter unless he's unhinged enough to leave the baby home alone.

It just really annoys me. Even if they reveal a perfect timeline and logical explanation for Mark to be the killer it's still sloppy that the murderer only appeared for about 6 episodes in the year long storyline.

Surely Mark would tell Elaine, he was going to meet Laura at Dublin airport for a birthday surprise for Damo, where did she think he went, more holes that Nick Cannon's condoms

So we have another twist last night …… Mark …..

Early on Mark was acting shifty ….. and was shifty again last night ….. but is he the killer ?? …. or merely the last person apart from the killer to see Laura alive ?? … the list of suspects in my head are …..

McCabe ….. I think the most plausible ….. she has form she has the means to do so she may or may not be using Tyler ….. she does want revenge on Damian and Mairead ….

Tyler ….. an oddball and defo capable of arson, mind games and even shooting people …. but is he a murderer ??? …. like he said he never knew Laura and there is no plausible reason for him to kill her ….. and no one else was killed yet …. Tyler seems to be a weirdo who watched Skyfall a few times too often and wants to be its villain …..

Mark ….. he and Damian along with Laura all disagreed over the house deal a few years back ….. there is a motive ….. it is now clear Mark picked up Laura and is most definitely the man in the lightning coat that Tyler conveniently had as well ….. but I have a hunch Mark is not the killer ….. and is yet another red herring ….. of course he would be nervous as he is the last known person to see Laura alive …… but on the other hand Mark's father Marty was a criminal who killed people ….. including his wife/Mark's mother as well as for Billy Meehan or someone like that IIRC …..

Damian ….. like Mark Damo is an offspring of a violent criminal ….. Damo has a temper and shouts and roars ….. BUT I have never seen him resort to extreme violence most of the time ….. he tried to kill Tyler and bury him and that was an exception ….. in soaps any twist is possible but it remains unlikely Damo is the killer and he seems genuinely angry about the whole situation …..

Mairead ….. she is one of these rather bland rather harmless characters …… a woman from Cashel from a posh background on one hand but one who has had tragedy ….. she was the wife of the thuggish Will and it would not be in her character to be a murderer …… BUT I remember Kerrie and she became the unlikely murderer a few years ago ….. plus it may be a convenient story arc for the Mariead/Dean/Damo triangle …… I hope not though as it would be an anti-climax …..

? …… and finally Tyler's sidekick ….. the person who took James' laptop and who he talked to on the phone ….. it makes sense that this could be McCabe ….. I hope it is …..

For a sensible and plausible outcome I really do hope it is McCabe ….. although just about anything is possible !!! ….

PS …. someone else was attacked very early on ….. another woman but cannot remember who it was ….. what was that all about ??? Related or another random attack just to throw one off …..

Not Mark. Why would either Halpin kill their sister. Is the note ‘an eye for an eye’ not relevant? Probably way off here but were any of the Halpins connected to Cian?

All I can say is that I'm shocked at how popular that lightning bolt hoodie is with grown men. It looks like something a 5 year old would wear 😂. It's so popular that Elaine even bought Mark another one.

I agree with what others are saying here - the gardai should have investigated all phone records and alibis so it doesn't make sense. Then again it is wooden Fidelma, the little detective and the gaurd with the dodgy moustache that are investigating so it's plausible they didn't do a proper job as they spend alot of time in McCoys😂

I've a funny feeling that it was Tyler who left the 'eye for an eye' note at the funeral, but is not the actual killer. He's a creepy weirdo and wind up merchant and may have left it there just to cause trouble.

The other woman who was attacked was Zoe. Georgie intervened and saved her. She started a sort of neighbourhood watch/vigilante group that hasn't been mentioned in ages. As you said, no other woman has been attacked since so obviously it did its job. All the criminals were probably too intimidated by Notorious Nora prowling the streets

I think Tyler was still meant to be in prison when Laura was murdered in Jan 2024. He only came to Carrigstown when he was released. The writers must have forgot this. None of this murder storyline has ever made sense.

When Elaine last visited there were a few moments where she had a look on her face of ding ding realisation moments. Im hoping she's the one that realised Mark is the murderer and that's why she bought the jumper. I think her visit to Carrigstown made her realise Mark was away when the murder took place and that's when his hoodie went missing.

If I lost that hoodie I'd say my missus would prefer it stayed missing than to replace it

Is the omnibus cancelled altogether because of the pope's funeral?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,019 ✭✭✭Oíche Na Gaoithe Móire

I'd say it's going to be Mark and the red herring Tyler. No more twists. I think he lost it over selling the house, manslaughter.

It wouldn't be Fair City form to bring back McCabe.

Kerrie Anne was a bit left of centre as a murderer but she was active on the soap at the time. McCabe must be gone over a year.

These Lightning Bolt top are obviously a Usain Bolt trendy type of gear🤭😅

Mark looked too relieved and even said it was a great weight off his shoulders so I would be surprised if there's anymore twists. The writers think they did a resounding job keeping everyone in suspense for a year.

That little detective, Buckley, has been off screen for ages and off the case even longer but suddenly re-appears. He's like that guy in college who does nothing for the group projects but turns up at the end to take the credit.

Probably. Regular viewers know all the twists, I’ll need to watch more often.

FFS, that was such a sh!t reveal. Where did Mark get the shovel to bury her? Where did he leave the baby while he was dragging the body to the park and burying the body? How did he manage it in winter? Leave the baby in a locked cold car or leave the car running for heat with baby inside but unlocked for anyone to steal? Also why does he even have a gun. If Tyler was caught and going down for it why did he need to carry a gun around with him if he was nowhere near under suspicion, was he planning on a shoot out with the cops?

Also couldn't he just have said he collected Laura, they had a row and he told her to get out of the car and returned to Galway and then felt too guilty to come forward when he realised she was killed the night he left her on the side of the road. It'd be very believable as to why he knew about the turbulence. His sudden full confession over lunch was dire.

At least they've explained how Elaine didn't know and what Mark's fake alibi was but mighty convenient with the car switch/backroads instead of tolls taken.
