I think he should be encouraged, I'd love to see him on Prime Time or the like answering some questions about the powers of the president, how tariffs work, name 3 or more Irish presidents, spell house of the president in Irish etc. It would be legendary TV!!!

According to the lead story on the Indo website, mcg wants to introduce two new witnesses, a couple, who saw someone assault Hand...

The new witnesses that have come forward are understood to be a male and female couple who claim to recall that they were aware another man assaulted Ms Hand on the night before the ambulance was called to her home.
McGregor’s side are understood to have been completely unaware of this couple until they approached his team after last November’s case concluded in a high-profile defeat for the Crumlin fighter.

I'm curious to know if, in a rather surprising coincidence, mcg somehow knows them!

If you were living under a rock and weren't aware of the case until after the court hearing, would you wait until you heard about a court case to report hearing/seeing an assault?

Would you not contact the Gardaí at the time to help the victim?

You would imagine that these two people, whoever they are, would have been referenced in the trial itself? Because quite simply, other than the 4 people at the centre of this case who were together for the day, the only other people who had any sort of access were security people driver and hotel staff.

Unless this is something that allegedly happened after the hotel events? It’s very peculiar but it’s obviously a compelling statement, whatever way it’s viewed we’ll have to wait and see

Yes- it’s a compelling statement to say two witnesses have come forward with significant testimony - and as I said, how it’s received we’ll have to wait and see for the detail of this.

I don't think it's compelling at all. It sounds like complete nonsense. Why did these 'witnesses' not come forward before now? Sounds the opposite of compelling tbh.

We won’t know if the actual detail is compelling or not until we hear it - the “claim” is compelling in that it needs to be heard in order to be understood - it may well be a load of codswallop - but that doesn’t deter from the fact that making such a claim is peeking interest from the public - compelling even

I'm not sure how compelling it is that the couple decided to wait until after the court hearing to come forward with their alleged testimony. The case was on the front page of every news website for three weeks. If they had gone to the Guards after a week, they would have been put in touch with McG's legal team and they would have been on that stand before the end of the trial.

In some ways, I'd love to see Ray Boland cross examine these two witnesses. But it probably won't even get to that point.

Just re-reading the Indo article, it mentions that the couple may have seen or heard of Hand being attacked. If they saw it happen, how do they know it was her and did they intervene (if not, why not?)?
Did they identify the attacker and have they described him to AGS?
Where did this happen (e.g. outside a pub) or was it a random attack on a street?
How do they know with any kind of certainty that it was Hand that was being attacked?
- do they know Hand (and if so, then they'd have been aware of the criminal trial and subsequent civil action in the intervening time period)?
- if they don't know Hand, what makes them confident that the woman that they saw being attacked in Dec 2018 was the same woman involved in the civil case in Nov 2024 and given the time lapse, how can they confidently claim that the attack happened the night before she required an ambulance (and so after her partying with mcg)?

If it was that they heard that she was attacked, (i.e. heresay), who told them and on what grounds could it be considered credible enough to warrant a retrial?

(personally, I don't believe a thing from his mouth and would like to see a criminal investigation into his actions)
