Looks like everything I suspected in post 226 was correct.I know I half joked about the springs being bought in B and Q but it looks like I wasn't far off. No consent given by parents either.

Apologies if this has been raised already but where is the Medical Council in all of this? They have the statutory function (further to the Medical Practitioners Act 2007) to investigate doctors on the two grounds of "poor professional performance" and "professional misconduct". Both of these terms have been legally defined.

The Medical Council's procedures prescribe that they can take action unilaterally i.e. a specific complaint by a member of the public doesn't have to be filed.

    Am I missing something here?

Surgeon A has been referred to the Medical Council, no info on when his case will be taken.

    Thanks for that.

If you think this story is bad, and it is, it is horrendous; there's another similar situation out there which top brass so far have managed to keep out of the media, and the Courts. This next one is on the scale of Ben Hur.

It’s hard to believe this could happen. it’s a disgrace and dreadful for the children and their families and completely unacceptable .

By way of contrast a family member had major surgery last year and the medical team and care and planning was excellent, with loads of information given in medical appointments, medical literature and articles provided, no stone left unturned basically. The whole procedure and every step along the way outlined.

To read about the experience of these children is shocking and absolutely unacceptable. What I can’t understand is how hospitals can have such different standards in terms of medical care. It beggars belief.

The "voluntary" hospital model is fubar. These are not 19th century charities taking pity on the indigent.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all
