Brilliant. So all the charging be done while it’s parked up. Perfect solution. Is she are you looking forward to it?

If I told you she's bought her last 4 cars without test driving them, that might give you an indication of her interest 😂.

She went last Saturday, saw the car outside, haggled with the sales lad over the price and did the deal.

He asked her if she wanted to test drive it..."no you're grand thanks. A car is a car is a car"

That’s unduly snobbishness; I dropped a trade-in in advance of collecting my Cayenne and walked from Finglas back to Rathmines, I wouldn’t even pay for the bus. Has to be said that the blisters on my feet were huge but that was more due to the shoes rather than the walk!

So herself picked it up this morning.

Took it for a spin this evening. First impressions...

Very nice place to sit, however I don't like the front part of the driver's seat. It's too high and it pushes your knees up.

It's actually quite a compact car compared to the 8 series she had before.

Acceleration in sports plus is brisk but definitely doesn't feel as brutal as the M3P when you floor it.

Getting used to buttons and switches after using a screen for everything is a huge change.

Tesla's are still miles ahead when it comes to technology. Having a huge screen for the sat nav and a large keyboard for entering your destination is great. Not to mention just sharing your destination with the car from your phone.

The Taycan seems to let 3 little "bongs" every so often and I've no idea what it means!!

Overall it is a gorgeous car and it will probably be extremely comfortable on a long journey. It will just take a lot of getting used to and I really love the look of it.

The bongs is probably a warning for exceeding the speed limit I'd say. It's a new model so has to have that shite.

    Well wear, looks Savage!

Thanks lads!! The bongs thing is weird. I also thought it was speed related, but they went off when was doing 41 in a 50 and doing 26 in a 50. Must be something else.

That looks class, well wear Mrs Ceiling.

Everyone seems to disagree with me but I think that the Turismo versions look way better than the regular Taycan.

I’m definitely in the disagree with you camp. The Turismo to me is the girly version hence maybe why Mrs McFeiling chose it over the traditional Taycan shape.

She liked the regular version more than the Turismo. It was me who persuaded her 😂

    Lads small question.

If I charge my model 3 on a granny charger I can drop the amps down to 6 or 7 to keep the plug temperature down.

Is this an option to do on the Taycan?

Only asking as we go down to Kerry a few times a year and I normally throw the extension cable (25 metre proper one bought from an EV cable company in England) out the window and let the car charge away for 10 or 12 hours overnight.

Gets me a fair bit of charge as the car is only sitting there. Installing a charger isn't an option unfortunately and for the 2 or 3 times a year the granny charger works perfectly.

Wouldn't trust leaving the plug getting very hot at night while we were sleeping.

Beautiful machine, would be terrified leaving that overnight on a street.

    Get into garage asap.

    from TaycanForum:

You can't change it from within the car (Taycan).

You can alter it on the EVSE. For the Porsche Mobile Charger Plus you can press one of the % buttons to reduce current - 100% = 7.4kW (or so) & 50% = 3.4kW (or so). On the Porsche Mobile Charger Connect you can use the web interface and slider bar to reduce the amps.

Make sure the extension cable is fully unwound or it can catch fire, happened to me recently thankfully not while charging a car.

I’m totally with you - I love the estate version of most cars, esp bigger saloons like the 5 series, A6, especially the Panamera, and so on and on.
saloons just make me think it’s a middle managers company car :D

the turismo is the only version I’d consider

I'd be kindof similar but I've always been a fan of a Q wagon. My all time realistic dream car is an e61 M5 (the touring with the v10).

    Couple of things.

I'm out charging at this time of the morning because the wife's chargers in work were all taken yesterday and she had 12% left for a long journey today (it's so convenient not having home charging).

Does the car pre heat for a fast charge? I put in Ionity on the sat nav because it's 350kw and I thought it would start pre heating quickly. Nothing came up on the screen to suggest it was pre heating and there was zero noise from the car/battery to suggest it was.

Also the ESB chargers don't show up on the charging network on the car's screen. None at all. Can they be added manually. I'm thinking this must have been an English car as all the stations are Shell Recharge, BP Pulse or E.ON.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,262 ✭✭✭mun1

yes the car does preheat if you select a fast charger as a destination . It doesn’t notify you but you can check battery temp on dash. (RHS binocle).

The chargers shown are based on your own filters set in the app (or car)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,707 ✭✭✭Redfox25

If you had 12% in the battery, it likely didnt start to preheat as the battery was low.

Anybody pay for the security package? Seems a bit of hassle having to carry around another fob

changed my 2021 Taycan 4S for a 2024 macan 4 this week. Big jump in tech from taycan and almost tesla like .

They are selling my taycan for €75k . I paid 68k for it last august. First increase I’ve seen in EV since Covid/ukraine shortages

Thats mad, I wonder whats driving the prices up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 551 ✭✭✭td2008

Any facelift model is 120K+ for RWD. Haven't come across a 4S yet so it's probably helped the old version
