It made me update but I can't activate any of the so called treats.

My conspiracy type theory is that they want to be discussed this week so they can promote their weird €500 mini cooker thingy.

Seems to be working ok for me now, strange things can happen during the weekly reset before IT get into the office on a Thursday morning to 'fix' it.

Not sure if there'll be much of a rush to blow €500 on the Silvercrest cooker yoke but we'll see.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

Scratched 3 I'd built up yesterday, 3 30% off 'sweet corner' sweets in a row! You can keep the diabetes Lidl, thanks anyway!

How's that toilet paper on the weekly offers?

    Sandpaper or tracing paper?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 169 ✭✭The Gardener

On the whole, I'd say it's fairly good when compared with named brands.

Beware of end of the aisle offers on fruit and veg.

I picked up mushrooms for 59 cents only to be charged 1.19. Turns out the 59 cents was only with with Lidl Plus. Only realised that when i got home.

Usually the end of aisle offers are not on Lidl plus.

they started sneaking those in over a year ago, there’s a Lidl plus logo on the price

Orange you glad of the appealing Lidl app? 🍊 🤬

Was in my Lidl for the first time since January today. Still miserly salmonella corner discounts.

They had 50% milk discounts but they left them out on the shelf on the hottest day of the year 🙄. Some with 20% as well in the fridge.

One Plus (see what I did there 😏) was that they've gotten rid of the self service tills since my last visit so the checkout process was much faster as they had staff available to cover the real ones.

A lot of things seem to have gone back to 30%/50% discounts rather than the 30%/40% of recently.

Good. 40% for "final" reductions is miserly

    "One per transaction"

I take it that means one per shop, but you could do several over different shops.

AFAIK the "Treats" are one-use only.

The "Offers" can be used multiple times, but subject to a limit per transaction, and those limits seem fairly arbitrary so you need to keep an eye on them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,174 ✭✭✭Buffman

Yes, but you can just split your shopping up on the conveyor as required, the offers don't need to be 're-activated' so just scan again and again. Think my record is 4 or 5 transactions in the one go.

Their transaction limits seem to have little or no logic, this week I can get 15 packs of mince per transaction or 1 roast per transaction.

Was gonna say this, shocked they put to 40 when they did, especially when places like Tesco's will do like 50-80% off, wonder what the economics of it all is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,711 ✭✭✭✭zell12

The did the 40c/90c/1.50 stickers, and it was human carnage when the produce went out. Staff complained to management, therefore it shifted to % off. It is only fair for all. They don't have to sell reduced food at all.

Anyone know what happened the Lidl recommendation thread?

I can't even google it, and boards search is, well, meh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,613 ✭✭✭✭thesandeman

It will probably pop up when somebody finds something to recommend about Lidl.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,436 ✭✭✭RobertFoster

    This one?

I find putting quotation marks around search terms makes boards search more usable.

The 4 large oranges on offer this week are gorgeous - at €1.29 for 4, an absolute bargain.
