seems to happen a lot in these win a house competitions .Thats a hell of an extension though .

Alternatively ticket sales could be strong and they want to maximise the profits…🤔

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 306 ✭✭Montys return

They did the same thing the last time and sold almost all the tickets.

But I think we need more sustainable ideas for revenue generation in the future. Only so many times we can flog this horse.

I agree they just don’t seem to get the support from business community etc , I know it’s not a fair comparison but you should see the Tipperary monthly draws the way they run it , they also are flogging a house as well . We seem to be so behind in the commercial activity .

Second half was seriously good. Cormac Spain lovely to watch, Jamie Shanahan as well and defensively looked solid this evening. Waterford hurling needs this.

Most enjoyable half of hurling from an underage team I think I've seen since 2016. Looked a very well drilled team that hurled with intelligence, skill and freedom.

Facing those puckouts in the 2nd half was tough but they defended extremely well and then broke with a support runner always available and got the ball to the right man before lifting the head and getting the ball inside to the danger men.

Huge potential in that team. Well done to all involved.

Really impressed with Conor Lynch in both games as well and Reville has an impact from true bench in both games. A really good 2nd half display against the breeze, think it’s Cork in 3 weeks time.

    Team for Sunday

Interesting to see if that team will start. Queally being loyal to the players that got to the final which is only fair. Although Conor Ryan unlucky to miss out with Daly coming straight back in. Daly is one of our best backs to be fair can’t argue with him being in the team

Offaly 2-20 Da Blaas 1-19…..Screeny to do a heap of damage along with duignan on the frees….you read it hear….!

    in the other one

Cark 6-18 Michael Lowry’s lads 2-15. Hoggy and harnedy to run riot

good win last night. A lot to like about this team. In fairness to limerick they made it hard for us in the first half and was a little worried at half time but we came out a different team in the second half and it was a comfortable enough win in the end.
Some fine hurlers across the board on this team. I know it’s only minor and a lot can happen from now til senior but after how poor we have been the last few years at underage it’s great to see a few green shoots and the lift the last two wins has given us all is great and badly needed.

One more win should be enough to get to a Munster final so hopefully we can get that. We have Cork away which will probably be a big test, they beat limerick well last week but I think it was a close game up to the last few minutes.
Clare in dungarvan is our last game. They play their first game today against Tipp in Ennis so should know a bit more about them after that

I think Conor Ryan is rather unlucky to miss out. Maybe it’s to see if Kenny will be an option, as I’d have Ryan starting ahead of him. Surprised to see Kieran Bennett drop out. I’d have him wing back ahead of Leavey or midfield ahead of Sheahan or Lyons. Peter Hogan another who has done well when introduced in the middle section but seems to be held for an impact off the bench most of the time.

Great to see Kiely back on the bench, hopefully his ankle holds for the duration of the campaign. Any chance of seeing him in the forwards might have evaporated with Prunty injured and Shane Bennett moving back inside after a cameo at wing back against Laois.

Still missing Prunty, Aussie, Patrick Fitz, Kevin Mahony and Carthach Daly. We’ll need to have Aussie, Patrick and Prunty to get out of Munster but Aussie has essentially not played this year, Patrick is coming back from a serious hamstring injury and Prunty can’t put a run of games together unfortunately. Even if they get back, they surely won’t be anywhere near 100%.

on the under 20s I taught they hurled alright and the score line didnt do them justice. Taught the backs hurled well (definitely one or two lads who maybe on senior panel in the future) think we lacked a classy forward or two and this probably cost us the game in the end. I know there isn’t a lot of expectation with this group but if you compare it to what we saw last year there is definite improvement and that is all we can really ask for.

Screeney hasn't even played in the league through injury and isn't in the match day squad. Caused by basically all the hurling he's done last few years.

    Is aussie anywhere near right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 994 ✭✭✭DiscoStew

After 2 good performances you want him to play U20 for 4 years? He’s playing brilliantly, hopefully he continues to develop throughout this championship and over the coming years. But in saying that, even playing one year up last year he didn’t look anywhere at all near this level. Let’s just enjoy what he’s producing with the minors for now.

Queally has been fairly consistent in saying he wouldn’t be right for the league final but will be for the championship. I suspect we’ll see him off the bench for the earlier rounds. Hard to believe he’s have 70 mins in him

Would that geographic spread of clubs around county Waterford be unusual down the years for county teams or the norm? Know previous teams would have more DLS, Mount Sion etc representation.
