Based off of previous posts in 2024, I feel like it could be like April or May by the time clearance, garda vetting, and references etc. is all complete and we are given start dates… even then it appears to be department dependent (I imagine for those further up the OOM then me it might be faster)

Anyone else in batch 2? Got a low teens OOM, so just wondering about the likelihood of getting called up 🧐

Reply mentioned that pre-employment checks will start sooner than I thought they would :)

I received an email asking for vetting and references today- really unsure about who I should put down for my current employer (line manager, HR, etc) as I’m not really at all in a position to disclose that I’m looking for a job

I'm putting my direct manager but i think they don't contact your current employer without telling you first

I’m in batch 2, I was wondering whether we’d be called as well.

I am in batch 2 as well, I'm wondering the same.

So is it that when you get through clearance you will 100% get an offer? Just I need to move so wanna be sure and maybe start looking for accom

I am unsure about this, I assume it depends on your OOM but I really dont know how it works too unfortunately

Hey, anyone know if the 5 - 8 working days for garda vetting is the actual expected timeline or does it typically take longer? Thanks!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 milkdress

pretty much, mine was about 9 working days

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 M.Diggums

Has anyone who has completed clearance been given any guidance on the next steps?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 dazzler98

For me they confirmed that I was assigned the position and they assigned me to a department. Next step they say is that the department will be contact soon in regards to the start date.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 M.Diggums

Was there any logic in particular to how the department was assigned?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 tas_778

I heard from someone who entered an AO comp a few years back that they send CVs around to different departments but idk if that is the case or if it also applies to IGEES.

Also, I'm a little worried about notice at work because according to my contract I have to give one month's notice. Any one have any insight in how long it takes when you have passed clearance to day 1 at the new job (i.e. being placed, communicating with HR etc.)?

@M.Diggums not that I know. But I'm pretty sure most IGEES workers work in the public expenditure dept but I could be wrong about that.

I’m in a similar boat, live abroad, have a lease, my work now knows I’m planning to leave- but no idea about timelines at all.

I’ve been assigned there- but I’m not sure whether all IGEES applicants are assigned there by PAS as a first stage- were you assigned to a different department?

@M.Diggums ah I see what you mean. No I haven't been assigned to a different dept as of yet. Hopefully there is some clarity soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 milkdress

@M.Diggums yeah the lack of a timeline makes the relocation really tough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 M.Diggums

I’ve sent an email asking for more clarity, don’t know if anyone has heard anything further?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 dazzler98

Nothing yet. I was planning to email tomorrow if I hadn't heard anything. Let us know if you hear something back from them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 milkdress

Has anyone gotten a response back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 M.Diggums

Nothing - bit concerning given the pressure to give notice thanks to the reference process!

I have an update. I got a call today from HR from a department and was given a start date - starting in about two weeks.
