It was a bit of an up and down Smackdown.

The crowd were less consistent certainly when they were loud they were loud (highlighted even more some of the bad themes at the moment) but when they were quiet (Zelina's entrance, jesus). Liv getting such a great reception was awesome and well deserved.

Fatu and Strowman was better than expected (can't wait for Fatu to go on a singles tear tbh) and Jade and Liv had a surprisingly decent match, Liv does well with bigger women. Also love Naomi's heel look. The downside on the women's side was the Charlotte/Tiffy promo, yikes. Tiffany is just not working as a face, her promos just aren't there. It was awkward as hell.

Some decent segments but definitely felt like there was more wheel spinning on the show. I liked the last segment and think they've done a decent job building the triple threat and the match will no doubt be great but, it definitely feels like a singles match with any combination of these men would be better. Sure, we've had Roman/Seth before and Punk/Seth but still. I also hope that we don't have this match be a pay-off to Punk chasing a main event and this being it, it shouldn't count.

what is the deal with the presentation of the Street Profits?? it seems they flip/flop between faces and heels every week..

They attacked the babyface champs MCMG, they wore Real Madrid Tops walking into the barca taping another week, their theme tune is changed to some pisspoor blandness one, but yet they invent a waterered down Yeet to rally the crowd in Italy and get them behind them and get the W over a heel team.. #confused

Big Chief and Grimace 🤣 well a good tag team name for sure

Feel thee Grimace line would have gotten a better reaction in the US as I presume the average European has no idea what that is

I would gladly take Fatu with Tama Tonga in his orbit just wrecking everything, being the mini-Shield the nu Bloodline should have been and drop Solo. Lean into that that jackal and hyena thing they're got going on. But it would make sense that it would be Solo/Tonga as a pairing since the crowd is behind Fatu.

Factions need rehabilitated a fair bit under this regime eye em oh as they're not really being supported.

I've wanted Montez Ford to break off into a singles run for years at this stage. I'm lukewarm on Dawkins but maybe slot him into New Day in the powerhouse role missing since Big E left?

When do we reckon tickets will likely go on sale for the 3 arena? Both Pre-sale and General sale.

So today I learned Mark Nash is a thing...

Orton Vs. Rhodes at SS or hold off until next year's WM?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 467 ✭✭Jay Pentatonic

Hard to predict really. I imagine Orton/Cena would be at some point this year, which could mean holding off Orton/Cody til later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 91,033 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

Yes heel Cena vs. face Orton would be cool and they deserve one big match again

    So Cody/Cena night 1 and Punk/Rollins/Reigns night 2?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 467 ✭✭Jay Pentatonic

KO inevitably getting his head kicked in at Mania 😅

The Orton/Cody segment was cool and potentially a great story there later on.

    Charlotte doing Vaquer's move again is...whatever 🤷‍♂️

Tiffy's segment with Jackie was heartening after last week. She did well I thought. Crowd had her back too.

It's geat to see Rey Fenix officially in WWE. Curious to see if they just link him in with Penta or let them both do their own thing.

Priest shouting "Rest in peace, jackass" followed by Punk walking past a completely incapacitated Drew was kinda hilarious 🤣

It's amazing to see how far Roman has come since his Big Dog days, but can't wait to see where this story all turns out 😊

Didn't Heyman say Punk was closing out Mania so I assume Night 2. Otherwise I would think Cena/Cody was the bigger match and close it out.

Tiff did better this week in her promo and I like heel Naomi

I do hope Tiff goes over at WM, Charlotte don't need the win

    Cena/Rhodes opening night 2 perhaps?

Unless WrestleMania Main Event Jey Uso actually getting snubbed.

I imagine Punk and co will close out night one. Closing the show means little with two nights they can spin it anyway they want. Jey uso to open night one or two I say.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 15,961 Mod ✭✭✭✭Furious-Red

No way are Rhodes/Cena open mania, they'll 100% headline, jey/Gunther could be opening

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,026 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I think I've heard the logic from WWE that Every match is a main event at Mania and opening the show is just as important as closing it. I remember one year where the Rumble winner didn't main event, but was second to last, they spun it as a double main event.

Didn't edge vs del rio open one year? Or maybe it was on early

Heyman said to Punk you're closing the show at Wrestlemania, gotta be main event night 2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,264 ✭✭✭Ridley

Maybe Rock steps in and shoots it down as seeding for that Reigns match somewhere along the road. WrestleMania 52 perhaps.😘

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,420 ✭✭✭ThePott

If it's anything other than the last match on Night 2, I personally think that being the pay off for Punk chasing the main event is disappointing.

Had the same thought about Roman, he's come so far as a promo and character. Glad it's not a title match for him too this year, he needs time outside of it.

As much as grousing as there's been (including me) about that triple threat, I am buzzing for it. Great build and the fact that the main event isn't the favour has me intrigued.

Becky to cost Charlotte setting up The Man Vs The Queen feud for the ultimate time.

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 56,258 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Jade just has IT in terms of aura tbh that's one thing I noticed yesterday. That little stare off with Charlotte certainly interested me going forward.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,201 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Just don't care about Jade vs Naomi

Think the Triple threat is main event of Night 1. Closing WrestleMania can mean either Night tbh. No way Cody vs Cena is opening esp if Codys avengers is a plan

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,484 ✭✭✭The White Wolf

I can't see it happening that way in regards to the favour.

I've thought for a couple of weeks since this triple threat was rumoured that it would be a main event of night 1, and that it would end in Reigns and Rollins uniting against Punk. Rollins promo last night gave me more confidence in that belief.

Whatever Heyman's favour is, it either instigates that moment, or develops the aftermath.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 91,033 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

Rollins really don't want Punk main eventing, could he change the position of the match on the card or what if Heyman sides with Rollins over Punk or Roman, now that would be a twist

    Punk still has his favour

I gotta say I'm excited for this triple threat match more than Cena vs. Rhodes so prefer if it is the main event, show closer

Roman hearing Punk say big dog was great, all 4, their expressions were so on point

Oh I didn't even speculate on what the favour was, at first I thought it might have been that getting the main event was gonna be the favour as an easy out.

I wonder if the favour is Heyman aligning with Punk but don't know for sure or really how much it would add to anything outside of a Punk/Roman feud. It would be the obvious one though. I definitely think we'll get a moment where Seth and Roman team up to take on Punk. The SHIELD fist spot or something.
