    Unpopular comment incoming…

I quite like Shane Coleman. In fairness, I've only listened to him occasionally - I can't really get into that breakfast show format/Ciara Kelly.

But I prefer Anton, so hopefully he'll take up the reins in time.

I think Shane Coleman has better chance of playing in goal for Ireland than replacing PK.

I just find it astonishing that Pat is 77. He really is an inspiration.

He's so sharp, good advertisement for keeping busy and fit!

Does anyone know where Pat is? Is this the third week he's been absent?

He'll be sorely missed when he retires.

Anton Savage is too much of an insider to interview anyone in Irish politics. He's incredibly smug and a bit immature at times.

Pat should retire. When is his contract up? He's been working 55+ years, deserves to laze about

So Pat is back. I am a fan but this is the first time I didn't miss him. I was abroad last week but the previous 2 weeks with Ivan were absolutely fine with me and a welcome break from Trump bashing. It was normal business , lots of topics, lots of banter.

Today Pat starts with the earthquake in Myanmar and brings Trump into this discussion saying USAID has been cut and as a result more people will suffer, so its Trump's fault. His guest also said that aid from Germany, France and UK has also been cut (to add a bit of balance)! Then Pat introduces Simon Harris as his next guest saying they will be discussing Trump and tariffs .

So in the first 20 minutes and his first time back in 3 weeks, Trump has been in both his opening topics! Pat is almost seething with hatred of Trump and I find it very hard to listen to him anymore. Micheal Martin went to the White House and chatted, touched and laughed with Trump. I think its called "diplomatic relations". Pat needs to reign his neck in.

Mad Pat is back on his TDS train again, even Simon Harris sounds reasonable compared to him in his interview right now ;-)

A thing isn't what it says it is.

A thing is what it does.

Simon: i've just come back from the Lebanon..

Pat: where you were spied upon by the Israelis it would appear by drone

Pat: so you're still on X

    Simon: i am…

Pat said he just spent three weeks in Australia, and will be boring us with the details over the next while

I wonder why some people on this thread even listen to Pat.

When he finally retires(maybe from a lack of love), you will be sorry.

He is obsessed with trump. It's pathetic really...he just can't hide his one feelings on any topic

As for Dublin airport, it's a horrible kip so I'd agree with him on that one

Oh God forbid those who listen may have a bone or two to pick with PK's varied tedious obsessions!

And no, I won't be sorry at all.

A thing isn't what it says it is.

A thing is what it does.

Wont be sorry either. He's a pain in the hole for the most part. I get the first hour and then over to Clare Byrne which is slightly better. Oliver callans show is woeful so will put up with PK for an hour and that's more than enough for me.

i tuned in just around 10 and he threatened me with yet another piece about a 3rd terminal in dublin airport/the restrictions on pax numbers/planning laws being changed for it so i switched over. He really has his pet subjects that he goes to again and again…

He only did the Myanmar subject to turn it into a Trump segment. Had Trump not been in office, Myanmar would have been left out.

I don't find Pat's observations about Trump clever or insightful.

I find it very odd that people listen to him to complain about him ? Some very 'strange' people about.

It seems Pat’s dislike of Trump that draws the most ire and the fact he has a weekly segment dedicated to dispelling misinformation.

It's a message forum. It would be a bit boring if everyone wrote up complementary posts.

And no one seems to contradict any of the Kenny criticism, they just say why are you listening.

The whole radio thread is like that in general. Some people happiest when giving out.
Pat will be missed when he hangs up those headphones, for good.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

A three week trip to Oz and a couple of stopovers is a poor indication of affluence.

A know a young lad who thought having a glass of wine was posh who ended up drinking cocktails in Raffles 🙂

The Sports review today - more time spent filling Pat in on Man Uniteds games while he was in Australia than on 4 Gaelic Football league finals played over the weekend.

It's the weekend sports review - they can fill in Pat pn man utds escapades over a cup of coffee after the show

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,405 ✭✭✭✭hotmail.com

Listening back to his Simon Harris "interview". It was quite bizarre - Pat spent the majority of the interview making his usual Trump comments with no questions to Simon Harris.

Surely our media is there to hold our politicians to account, not this soft chat where Harris wasn't challenged at all.

Pat's the big man when it comes to being against Trump.

It seems Pat’s dislike of Trump that draws the most ire

I don't think that's a reasonable analysis of what most on here draw attention to (at least from what I've read). It's not his dislike of Trump per se but how he uses his show let us all know…at every opportunity. It's got to the stage where he'll try to bring almost every topic back to Trump in some way.

It's understandable why he dislikes Trump. I'm sure Pat has disliked a few other public figures over the years, but he always remained professional (from my memory) by picking apart policies etc. with guests and even putting the boot in when necessary. With the whole Trump thing though, he often just ends up on a bit of a rant. For me, it's taking away from how I've always seen him…as a real pro broadcaster.

This morning, in his chat with Lara Marlowe, he said about Trump's administration - "They're so stupid, they don't realise how stupid they are". He might have a point, but c'mon Pat…get a podcast or switch to one of those late night phone-in radio shows.
