Trump seems to forget that those federal funds come from the states. He keeps **** around, watch them tell him to pound sand and withhold taxes.

One of the agreements following the US/RU discussions:

"......… The United States will help restore Russia’s access to the world market for agricultural and fertilizer exports, lower maritime insurance costs, and enhance access to ports and payment systems for such transactions."

    But Leinster House 😂 😂

I've seen some bizarre examples of whataboutery posted by your good self in relation to Trump over the years but this might just be the best yet.

    Bravo 👏

Why are they letting them in the country? Don’t give the plane permission to land and tell them to piss off back to their own basket-case of a country.

They haven't felt nearly enough pain for the sh*t to hit the fan yet, the Trump supporters are more than happy with what is happening and the 2/3s who didn't vote for him are appalled but not directly effected yet, most democrats seem to be hanging on to the hope that the mid terms or next election will end it all and thing will go back to 'normal'. I think once they realise the elections are a shame and won't change anything then they might act.

Some of the advisors on that chat were in the Kremlin last week.

    Maybe I’m being paranoid…

Kinda mental that people need to second guess themselves about a matter like this. But no, you are not paranoid. It's a thing that happened… because **** it I guess

It was all well and good that this conversation was had about bombing a country that can't defend itself (the yanks specialise in that), but had this been a conversation about China or Iran, this could have turned in to a major international incident without even an attack being launched. They got lucky this time but I'm sure the security services of better equipped countries will be into this crew like ticks from here on.

And? It’s still a sovereign territory. Or else just let them play their games in their base.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 12,365 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

One of them was in the kremlin when the conversations were taking place. They’re a bunch of traitorous pricks.

Why not let them land, but have a long interrogation, ideally 36 hours after landing and holding them in a cell with just a few cups of tea to survive. Then deport them anyway.

If its an acceptable tactic for the US to deny people entry, I'm sure the Greenlandic folk can do similar?

I wouldn't be surprised if they tried something with Greenland and then tried to charge to Europe for it because, according to them we benefited from it.

I heard a very interesting theory on Trumps fascination with Canada, Greenland and Panama.

Basically, Trump wants respect and wants adulation and knows that overtime everything will eventually come out and that he will be viewed poorly. As he already is by roughly 50%.

But to be known of the POTUS that expanded the US? That will ensure his legacy is seen forever. He will go fown in history as one of the most influential POTUS in history given that he achieved what almost no other POTUS achieved.

That the economy, inflation, jobs, healthcare etc will all be forgotten about or argued about but the fact he gained the US valuable territory can't be denied and will forever be associated with him.

It is the ultimate property play.

You do realise that between the base and where majority of the population lives lies one of the worlds largest islands with an icecap and no infrastructure

His reason to go is to stir up separatist shite with the population

I would laugh if he goes to the IS airbase and then spends a week dog sledding across the ice with his immigrant wife

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

From a European perspective, best we can do is get our own house in order. One of the big challenges is business growth which obviously fuels an economy- large companies are playing “wait and see” before making their next strategic expansion - I think we’ll see a slowing down in the economy very soon now. It will trickle down to consumers not buying and instead increasing savings to deal with job losses etc.

“Confidence” makes the money world go around and there’s very little of that out there right now

Of course! Property is what he defaults back to as its all he really knows even though hes also terrible at it like everything else.

the insults to Goldberg are immature and counterproductive. Come on which side are you on - the side of right/truth or the side of downright lies/ deflection/ ridicule, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. The comments from the the Trump side are COMPLETELY OFF THE WALL.
IMO the words to describe the statements from the Trump side have not been ‘invented ‘ yet !!!

and that punishes the Invader how? Europe needs to accept that keeping this US sweet is not possible. Trump has left NATO

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 23,829 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

If I was the Danish PM, I'd send some top level dignitaries to meet with Greenland officials at the exact time that Vance and his crew are going to be visiting. And I would have no one official meet Vance on the tarmac and would have immigration officials make sure to check them for all appropriate documentation with respect to travelling.

The simple reason they are using SIGNAL ( rather than an official allowed communication tech .. eg a scif - sensitive compartmented information facility ) is it auto deletes all convo streams in a set period ( set by user I think ) so there is no evidence of that group convo having happened. Im not sure its possible to get back a signal group convo once its deleted?

SO - I reckon its trump gov policy to use SIGNAL so there is no official documenting of such conversations which, apparently, is legal that there should be.

THIS is the big issue that they have got caught at in my view. keep no records, or as little as possible. I think I saw somewhere that this "strategy" is part of the project2025 "rule book".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,128 ✭✭✭✭Timberrrrrrrr

    Nah, Trump would love that.

They should close all businesses, people should stay at home. Customs/immigration should hold them for a few hours and then let them wander the empty streets. Hotel staff should all call in "sick" too.

Sort of modern version of Nixon

NYT has a good article on the epic fuckup

    https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2025/03/25/us/signal-group-chat-text-annotations.html?unlocked_article_code=1.604.dLAX.tteXkp4nmdNH&smid=re-share

notice how the Trumpets no longer even bothering to deny Project2025 is not a thing now that they are directly implementing all parts of it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,273 ✭✭✭✭Leroy42

The use of Signal may be an issue, but it is not the issue. It is the lack of any controls, the lack of any checks. And the lack of any responsibility or even acknowledgment that anything was an issue is the problem.

The hearing yesterday, where Tulsi stonewalled the committee and couldn't even say if she was in the group or not. That she didn't know what was said but was certain whatever was said wasn't classified.

You have the POTUS seemingly completely fine with all of it.

That should be extremely worrying to anyone who is involved in the military, the CIA, etc. And it should be very concerning to other countries that currently share information with the US.

What always surprised me about the Mar-a-Lago documents was the complete lack of any cry out from the likes of the military that Trump had been so cavalier with their lives and their security. So it is not surprising that those around him act in the same manner

You've nailed the theme of the problem pretty well.

It's not as much the act (which in itself was pretty stupid), but the attitude of the people orbiting around Donnie that let it happen. They may have gotten themselves into government, but they do-not-care how it is supposed to be done. Chatting on Signal was likely easiest / handiest way to do this, instead of bothering to go to the West Wing's situation room to discuss in person like you are supposed to.

Futhermore, Donnie doesn't care in the slightest. Of course he doesn't, because he doesn't actually care how the country is run. He wanted the title of President and that's pretty much it. Vance, Hegesth & Co. are left to their own careless nitwitted devices when it came to all of this, and the result is clear to see. Donnie's White House 2.0, now with added Stupid for your enjoyment.

But you know, K.Harris was a horrible commie something-something…radical Lefties….something!

Oh and yes, a gentle reminder to our Centrist friends that yes we will be remembering all of this, and yes…we will remind you of it each and every time you try to frame Donnie or the GOP as another than incompitent extreemist blockheads.

Notice how Trump is full on attacking the media/messenger

And all of those going on about “checks and balances” and “freedom of speech” amendments and all that are very very noticeably quiet

It turns out they never cared about the constitution either
