I just think we need to be patient. Judge him next season. We've a young team and have missed a lot of big players this season.

Dalton is good for a few brainless penalties a game

3 penalties from Dalton so far...we're 32 minutes into the game...just not good enough

    That's feckin woeful from Moore.

    So good from Wilson

Got there in the end. 5 points away from home, it was hard work though.

That was dire, to just about win against a team that has only won2 games all season pretty much sums up where we are.

It was dire to a point, but they did win the second half 20 to 6 so I suppose they deserve some credit.

I thought Murphy showed some things that we haven't seen before in terms of attacking the gainline, however his kicking needs to be more consistent, but it's easy to forget how young he is. For example he's a year younger than Sam Prendergast. To be honest, unless someone else emerges I think he's going to be our 10 for the next decade so let's be patient with him. I think he could develop into a pretty good player.

Next Friday at home to the Stormers is huge, its a cup final and we have to win.

I think there's an awful lot to be positive about Ulster beyond this season, to my eye there's a real crop of talent coming through that are starting to get gametime.

they’ve nearly all been blooded under the previous regime

    Some random observations -

Willie Faloon double-jobbing as our defence coach is not working terribly well at all. And on coaches - we're clearly waiting for Sexton to arrive before we bother trying to score any tries through our backs. With the backline we had out last night, that's criminal.

Scottie Wilson was not only significantly better round the field that O'Toole last night, he was better in the scrum. Crean seems able to do a job

Cooney's cool head win that for us last night. He'll be missed next season, especially when you remember that at some stage it's likely we'll have to field a 9-10 of McKee and Murphy which, while talented, is ludicrously green.

Dalton is a physical player, but to stand out on the team with the worst discipline in the league as "ill-disciplined", really says something about how he needs to engage his brain.

You always learn more from a tough, hard-fought win than winning at a canter so that's a vague positive in the long run, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's our last win of the season.

I feel for Dragons fans. They certainly played the better rugby.

Interesting comments on Wilson, but also on TOT. Wasn't it rumoured he wanted a move to Leinster last summer? Has he not been pretty underwhelming this season? Injuries and suspension haven't helped, but there was a moment in the first half last night when a Dragons player just ran around with him with such ease that it did cross my mind about his commitment. Hopefully I'm way off the mark with that.

I think his confidence has taken a serious knock. He's been messed with the national team trying to move him to LH, where he wasn't great for Ireland A, and he must now be wondering if Boyle and Clarkson are head of him.

It wonder if it'd be best for him to take a deep breath and just focus on his game.

He has been underwhelming for a couple of seasons. I always wondered how he managed to make the Ireland squad. I think it was his potential instead of his ability

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,414 ✭✭✭Locke_Lamora

I was always of the same opinion but to be fair to him he's always been great when called upon for Ireland. In fact most of the potential I saw in him was generally based on his performances in green.

Instagram hinting at a new signing tomorrow. Like a wooden printing press based advert, if anyone likes a hint

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,117 ✭✭✭Paul Smeenus

I have a sneaking suspicion we're signing Johannes Gutenberg, inventor of the printing press and abrasive second row enforcer.

Wonder if it's that Rory Maguire.

I think it's the new headline sponsor rather than a signing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,150 ✭✭✭✭bilston

Shirt sponsor or stadium sponsor...or both?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,117 ✭✭✭Paul Smeenus

Surely it couldn't be a newspaper or conglomerate given the finances of print media at the moment?

Well, more fool them but if it gives the finances, fair enough.

    Eben next week then

Nah but we'll get Roigard on the books to be backup to Doak, and some 6th choice Leinster prop for LH sure.

Think figured out the sponsor as I'm boring as fk and long car journey... SAM mouldings

Might actually lead us into Bordeaux with the strongest backline, at least on paper, that we could field!
