Thanks I usually do I was just wanting to verify what would happen should the tank be full and I was producing in excess of 4kw. Its a pain I haven't been home when we have as I'd shut the eddi off and see did the Deye limits kick in.

Looks like the export limiting does work as expected, annoyingly I updated the firmware on my Eddi while experimenting and bricked it for several hours, now that it is working after several resets and much messing around the new firmware doesn't allow the export threshold to be set as granular, its to the nearest 500w now and jumps unpredictably when setting sometimes increments are 1kw and very occasionally 250w but never when I want it!

Finally getting round to fitting the Deye 8kW.

For those using the SDM320 what is the correct cat cable colours going to 5 & 6 on the meter. I see orange & orange white on the youtube clip and blue & blue white mentioned here. Not seeing the correct readings on the inverter with either combination or is there a setting on the inverter side other than selecting Ex_Meter for CT.

For those using Solar Assistant. I have the Pi and RS485 cable connected to the Inverter and I have the Deye inverter and USB selected in the configuration but the green Connect button remains greyed out, any suggestions.

    Thanks for the help.

Yeah tick Ex_meter for CT, select Eastron-1P in the Meter Select box and then tick just "A Phase" which is under Ex_meter for CT

I am using the orange wires on the network cable, try swapping them around (you might need to reboot the inverter not sure if it picks up on the fly)

Not sure how the 8kw rj45 ports look like inside but I had to connect my Solar Assistant and the batteries to the same port with a splitter, port name is "Battery CANBUS" the RS485 one wouldn't work. Try that one, leave the battery cable out if you don't have a splitter to test it.

Just one possible port on the Deye labelled BMS and no separate CAN. No battery connected as yet so just inverter connected at the moment just not getting the connect button highlighted.

I'll have a play around with the CAT cable and see if I can get any readings.

Depends on the rs485 cable used as well.

I use two of these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006450339106.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.443d1802atqSDe

One to inverter and one to the batteries since it can pull way more battery data that way.

On my 8kw Deye its a combined port, I wired it to a dual rj45 socket with the BMS on the CAN port and the RS485 connected to home assistant via a raspberry pi. Basically a DIY version of this https://solar-assistant.io/shop/products/deye_rj45_split

Combined port also and will get/make a splitter when hooking up the battery.

RS cable is direct from solar assistant. I wonder would I have to connect battery and enable it on the inverter to activate the BMS port?

Solar Assistant up and running, change of power supply seems to have cured it so thanks for the input.

I have removed the meter for now and running with the CT.

Now if I could just get my head around the settings, they do not make this clear at all…

Basically, for now, I am looking to use any excess PV to cover the load, then charge the battery, then export. Secondly, I am looking to charge the battery from 02:00-06:00 and then use the battery while there is not enough excess PV to cover the load.

One minute I think I have then it doesn't appear so… again, I would be grateful for any pointers.

    Thanks

I'll get a photo of my schedule later. And settings later

But generally, mode is zero export to CT, solar sell ticked and for the schedule make all the times go over 1 day, eg first one should start at 00:00- 2:00, battery % set to say 20

2:00- :0600 battery % set to 100, grid charge ticked

And just split up the rest of the day.

Thanks, that appears to be they way I have it so I'll check against your schedule later.

Forgot to get this yesterday, but this is an old one but should do it

    Power, is max discharge power

Don't overlook the first column Grid Charge tick !!!

Thanks, that it how I have it set up alright.

Issue I am having is that the inverter is seeing a load and shows the battery being used, which is what I would expect but the load is too high for what is being used .

What is actually happening, looking at zappi CT, is that the battery power is covering the load and the remainder is being exported, the Inverter is not seeing this export.

Once the battery reaches the level I have set in the time of use table then the Inverter is seeing the correct load being used by the house.

What mode are you in, Solar Sell? Should be zero export to CT

This is currently Deye and Myenergi

If I reverse the CT it pulls from the grid to charge the battery and shows no house load

I have moved the CT to the main incoming in the meter cabinet and used a 2-core cable to extend about 10 meters, was previously using a twisted pair.

Looking like Deye and Myenergi are tallying, so will monitor for now.

I will revisit the meter in the coming days when I have a bit more time as I would like to utilise the modbus in Loxone.

I have issues, particularly during poor weather, where the Deye sees export as Zero, but the actual export could be as high as 2kW

The solution was to ground the CT.

I have a Smart WiFi contactor to either ground or unground it. When grounded, I have a maybe 20w import, whereas ungrounded I have a constant 200w export (according to the MyEnergi CT)

I prefer to have the constant export, since my daytime imports are 37c while FIT is 25c

Seems the CT can be an issue alright.

Ours seems to be working alright since redoing it although I am having a problem with it shutting down due to grid disconnections.

I think this is grid frequency related and I had it a couple of times on the Solis over the last couple of weeks. The power was disconnected last week for a few hours and I wonder could be a remnant of the storm.

I don't see a setting for DST on my Deye. I have a time sync option enabled, which doesn't appear to work, as I have to correct the time by a few minutes once a month. Does anyone know if the clock will go forward on its own tonight?

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators Posts: 7,129 Mod ✭✭✭✭graememk

    I can't remember.

Are you on smart plan or DN?

    Id turn off auto update.

If on DN you don't have to do anything,

If on smart id set it to the new time now, or sometime tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,885 ✭✭✭tnegun

I'm on a smart plan, I just created an automation in home assistant to do it and to sync the clock every night in future, as it's losing minutes.

alias: Energy - Set Deye Inverter Time
    description: ""
    triggers:

    • trigger: time
      at: "01:55:00"
      actions:
    • target:
      entity_id: text.ss_date_time
      data:
      value: "{{ now().strftime('%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S') }}"
      action: text.set_value
      mode: single

Can you post a screenshot of how this is formatted, as I cannot get it when just cutting and pasting it 😕

Or how do I just select an entity for an action ? It prompts for a device

Boards isn't letting me upload a yaml file I can send it to you if you want just dm me an email address. This is what it looks like in HA and it worked perfectly last night.

What integration are you using to modify the deye time settings, just noticed mine is also out by a few minutes and it seems to be widespread issue with deyes and stupidly you can't just set NTP settings anywhere for the inverter.
