At least we will have a break from the doom merchant

I love being wrong. Excellent team performance if gillane had scored some of those points that Mossy got.today .we would be all gushing over him. Hugh Lawlor is class..shane walsh needs to be in that team. Hopefully the injury to kenny isnt too serious

Its.almost better that limerick did come back into it.and we weathered the storm and kicked on

Great to have John Donnelly and the great man back. God they improve us so much. Mossy and Billy Ryan working hard again, the 2 are having very good leagues. Cian Lynch won't want to see Cian Kenny for a while

A good day for the soul

John Donnelly really makes some difference to that half forward line

    7-8 pints from mossy unreal

    Great 60mins from Mackessy

One swallow doesn’t make a summer but it’s our first 70min performance all year not all doom and gloom after all

Good to see Kenny giving it to Lynch, need more fight like that and Fionan throwing his weight around as well.

Savage response from the players today, the attitude was very good right from the throw in. I was worried we were going to let it slip for a while but we got a decent contribution from the bench today with Killian Doyle and Harry Shine in particular. A nice lift for everyone before the championship.

Fair play to all for restoring pride in the jersey. Fought hard and hunted in packs. More cohesion in their play. Obviously more important for KK than LK but still. I hope Shane Murphy keeps his place, he uses possession well. I was delighted to see Billy Ryan score off his right, he doesn't do this often enough imo and would make him a more difficult opponent to mark. Mossy was excellent, won a lot of his own ball. Mackessy brought good physicality. TJ was central to a lot of play. Huw steadies up the back line and Mikey improved on recent displays. I would like to see Tallis or Galway (when is he back from injury?) get a chance in goal as Eoin still struggles with distribution

A massive improvement from last week. Im in work so only getting to see bits here and ther but a massive improvement on last week. The game should bring them on massivly as it looked a good tough game. 5 weeks now to get ready for the championship and get everyone fit. Time to look forwad with a bit more hope.

Great performance today. Mossy in hoty form. Mackessy and Donnelly very good too. Hope some took on the 4/1 odds.

that puts Tipp in the league final, hope we can join them tomorrow. Apparently the last Tipp-Cork league final was 1960

Can’t read it, it’s behind a paywall. What’s the general gist of it??

As we said over the last few days we wanted a good performance today with serious intent and determination. We got exactly that. Far play lads. For most of the 70 mins we put serious pressure on Limerick and didn't allow them to play at their usual tempo. Granted they were missing a number of key players, but so were we. Donnelly excellent I thought. TJ and Mossy similar. You couldn't fault the lads today, Mackessey, Hogan and billy Ryan very good. Delighted for Harry shine aswell, showed some lovely touches. Backs solid, kenny and molloy ran themselves into the ground but the most important thing for me was that when Limerick had their spell in the 3rd quarter bringing it back to 4 points, we dug in and for the first time in a while, finished strongly.

Nothing won in march of course but this definitely should be a shot in the arm for the team and management.

Focus on the next 4 weeks in training, get a few lads back from injury and we could be a handful for anyone out there but the intensity displayed today has to be maintained.

    Well done lads.

I thought TJ was excellent today, he used all his experience and street smarts and rarely wastes possession, He does so much work and little runs off the ball taking defenders with him to create space for the likes of Mossy and the other forwards.

He might be 37 years of age but knows how to be very efficient with his energy levels and only puts the needle in the red when it’s absolutely necessary. I think he was immaculate from placed balls too today and he’s still so important to this team.

I’m obviously hugely biased but he’s the best I’ve ever seen without a doubt.

Don’t like putting a more realistic tone on today. Limerick didn’t bother one bit in the first half. Normally they are crowding the opposition out when they have the ball. They never hunted in their normal packs bar the 15 MJ s in second half when they reduced the deficit to 4 points. If they had to get a goal then we were in bother. Great to see our lads finish strong as it’s a while since that happened. It will give KK confidence for Leinster but Limerick will be very strong this year

Great display today. All players much sharper than priorvleague games in ball control, stick passes, catching, passing & shooting; highest score from play to date even if it could have been better. Also faster to the breaking ball. Also, told me the panel is stronger than we thought with Blanchfield, Carey, Cody and Mullen to return. If we had the 20,000-40,000 fans behind us that Cork and Limerick can draw on this team coukd test anybody. Wonder why Offaly won the u20 and 13 man Tipp minors had their miraculous AI performances last year. A large passionate support of 10,000+ makes players play out of their skins and achieve unbelievable performance levels. What I find incredible is that Kilkenny players achieve these levels even with our small fan base.

Marooned appears to be having WIFI issues this evening. Very strange. Every county has them to be fair and none more so than my own. On today's game, it does give counties a glimmer of hope that this Limerick team can be caught. I'd be hopeful that we can give them a huge game to start in Munster.

How many from kilkenny actually attend home matches in nowlan Park? From an official attendance of 6500 or so we surely had less than 3000 there today? I thought there was a slightly bigger Limerick crowd there but that's only what it looked like from the old stand. It looked like about 8000 based on last week's attendance. Which or whether its a disappointing turnout for a traditional hurling county.

Very heartening performance today. I think most Kilkenny people feared the worst before the game. Some excellent displays and to see TJ rolling back the years again was fantastic. Incredibly intelligent hurler and still worth his weight in gold to us. Young O'Brien won't want too see Huw Lawlor again too soon, what a player he is. Paddy Deegan gets a lot of stick but he was excellent today as well. Mossy outstanding yet again also. We were much hungrier than Limerick were and I'd say they'll travel home with some serious worries, particularly around their full back line. Casey is an average defender and Sean Finn looks a shadow of the player he was before his injury. Very sorry to see Cathal O'Neill go off with the hamstring again, that'll probably see him miss a few games in Munster and he'll be a huge loss, he's a savage hurler. Limerick will also be awaiting the Kyle Hayes court date with trepidation as well.
Well done to Derek and the lads, one swallow doesn't make a summer but they've shown there's plenty life in us yet.

Kk u19 bet by 6 points I was told. I know none of the u20s involved and its the first match but that's a dissapointing result. Eligible u19s on the extended u20 panel would be better getting game time in this competition. Will we ever know what's going on when they leave school the transition to underage has being very poor.

Well done to kk today. No one will get carried away but we probably learned that alot of the younger Limerick lads aren't as good as we thought. We know Limerick were missing an awful lot but kk needed a big performance after last weeks performance. Alot of things said during the week but this was a confidence boost heading into the championship where they have a few weeks to knuckle down and work on things.mossy has had a great league and kk really need him to drive on now in the championship. Today's cameo will hopefully give Harry shine confidence because we need these lads breaking through. Fionan was very good and it will be intresting to see how he goes in a few months. Donnelly and tj are still so important to the fowards. Tj just keeps on giving and giving

Interesting today to see at times 2 of our backs turned there back on the Limerick puckouts and watched where the Limerick forwards were running to instead to made sure they were there when the ball landed have never ever seen that in a match it seemed to work though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 156 ✭✭New Scottman

    TJ Reid scored 0-10 today.

If he wasn't playing Limerick would have won by a point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 bostonbeauty

if TJ hadn’t played someone else would have taken the frees and scored 6 or 7 there Scotsman

But I must say he is some detail for a man his age and will be a loss when he calls it a day

Is that assuming it would have been 14 v 15 or that the player on instead of TJ wouldn't have scored or had some influence on the game? Either way, great contribution
