Far from a weak team is right, probably wanted to keep Hayes out of limelight and easing Casey in, holding of Gillane alright

Hayes went off with what looked like a groin pull last Saturday night against Galway.

The lean times were really 1984-1990. Only two Leinster titles won out of seven attempts.

Kilkenny won All Irelands in 1983 and 1992 and reached the final in 1991.

All thomastown players expressed their dissapointment at the length of the suspension. It wasn't handled well at county board level by all accounts.i think many people were hopeful that Doherty would bring something new to the table because he had them playing a nice brand and good on the puckouts. The league is over this weekend and the championship a few weeks away and he has done nothing yet. It should be hard to believe but in kk everything is believable.

Nothing at all against Noel Doherty. Huge achievement to manage Thomastown to senior title but wasn’t Sean Kelly the coach. Every one is talking about the lack of coaching in the senior set up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 162 ✭✭Box to box

Yea sean Kelly was the coach and done most of the drills and some other good people involved like dessie walsh and John brennan. Thomastown played such attractive hurling many were still hopeful noel could bring something different. Its dissapointing to learn he hasn't being involved. Decky wall has a lot of work to do,hopefully peter o Donovans drills improve. Derek asked a few people to come on board including Tommy Walsh but it was harder than he thought.

It’s unbelievable…. Surely Doherty was brought in because it was obvious coaching needed huge improvement and then he’s not involved until now? That’s incredible really, Donovan clearly not up to it and now we go into the Championship massively under prepared.

any team that doesn’t have quaid gillane. Casey. Hayes. Daragh o donovan. Byrnes. Dan m and hannon is defo weakened. That’s literally more than half a hurling team

Whatever 15 limerick pick at the moment there will be at least 6or 7 top.class hurlers missing out..

Any chance John lockes will do something in junior with all their underage success last couple of years or is it a year too early?

Their results the last few years have been embarrassing for a town team who should have a big pick. Obviously they've been damaged by the powers jumping ship to windgap, but surely they should be better.

Its slightly depressing to be heading into a home game with most of us realistically hoping to not get too much of a hiding..

Limerick seem to have improved their squad over the course of the league

We on the other hand have given chances to a good few lads and none have really stood up..maybe stephen donnelly if he can shake off the injuries..

First round of the Championship is fast approaching and we have the same issues as the last number of years..couple of weak defenders.. unsettled mid field..not enough scoring forwards ..puck outs..

Its hard to be enthusiastic about repeatedly doing what hasnt worked..

Thinking of young lads coming through the only chap that really excited me recently was ollie o Donovan from john lockes..and he is still a child.. he may be the next tj or he may never make it..either way that's years down the line

The general mood around the county is that we are in for a tough afternoon, especially with carey and blanchfield missing.

We dont know yet whether Cody or Lawlor will line out tomorrow evening but what we do know is that definitely Shane Murphy and possibly Fionan Mackessy will start in their place. Weve struggled big time trying to get results against Galway, Cork and Tipp. There was no fight last weekend against Tipp until we went down to 12 men. It was all over then, especially when Tipp got to grips with moving the ball forward. They struggled with that for 10-15 minutes. In the 1st half we were way too casual in how we hurled and if we get one thing right tomorrow, it needs to be 100% drive and comnmittment from everyone on the field. If we get that then at least we have some platform to move forward into the championship.

Lads seriously what's going on with Eoin Cody, heard rumours about why he was out last week and now he's off the panel again this week, coupled with the performance and discipline issues last weekend, is there something going on in the set up that we should be worried about?

We will have a fair idea of the attitude within the squad tomorrow evening. Hopefully the lads will have a right crack at Limerick. We're down a lot of men but they are lining out for Kilkenny so it needs to be 100% effort and commitment

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 110 ✭✭biglad40isback

bookies have seen enough. 1/7 odds limerick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,113 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

That's all we can hope for, if they put up a good hard fight I'm not worried about the result, don't think we'd have the players to win tomorrow but the attitude has to show that they are, as a group, pissed off with what they put on the field last day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 494 ✭✭Krazy gang

I'd be fairly optimistic we'll see a better performance tomorrow. Lawlor and Donnelly will improve things and the players will want to make amends for last week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 99 ✭✭The_Ghost

4/1 in Nowlan Park to win? Holy god. I hope we get some positivity out of the game but I just can’t see it. A. Mullen played a challenge game against Waterford went off after 10 seconds with a cut hasn’t been seen since, what is going wrong with him? Cody too what’s up there? Few weeks ago I wasn’t too worried about us but now it’s Leinster or burst for lyng. Since Limerick beat us by 2 points under Cody(yes they absolutely emptied the tank against a savage team and could have won it) what has changed? It’s the same **** bunch of players. We should paper over the cracks again in Leinster but just can’t see anything more. Feel sorry for Huw Lawor who is as fine as full back you’ll ever see.

Any word on how the u19s went up in Westmeath tonight?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,113 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

Only thing is if there is any fight in us, 4/1 at home against a team with nothing much to play for might be worth a few quid!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 128 ✭✭ttowncat

Cody and mullen will be back from their muscle related injuries in next few weeks. Nothing else wrong. No conspiracy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13 gaafanatic

limerick with nothing to play for? They can make a league final and they are all chomping at the bit to make that team.

what limerick are playing for is places in the limerick team for championship. While lynch. Hegarty wont bust a gut a lot of the lads have a lot to prove.

Finn has to perform to keep out o connor and murphy. Like him flanagan position also at risk English cathal o neill. Shane o brien all pushing for the nod off Kiely. O dalaigh when he gets on will be another
