I thought Donnarumma was fairly dodgy during the 90 minutes, it's a funny oul game.

I feel absolutely nothing after that.

Not one part of me thought we deserved to go through there. PSG are the best team I've watched since us in the Madrid home game we won. And we're not that team right now.

There'll be no acknowledgement that Liverpool played very well for a lot of the 210 minutes. The narrative was set after the first half in Paris and nothing was going to change that.

People will be wondering how it ever got to penalties at all

Prefer Alisson in goal for normal but would have preferred Donnaruma in goal for penalties. I'd nearly have put in Kelleher for penalties if we had a sub left. Might have just rattled them. Don't think anyone fancied Nunez taking a pen. Should have just belted it. Jones was just a badly taken pen. If Ali gets to the first though, it might all have been different.

He’s not a great keeper but he’s a great saver of penalties. He has the wingspan of an albatross in fairness

Disappointing but given what's left for us I felt it was somewhat of a free hit in the CL. Penalties are penalties, a lottery etc. Nunez pen probably the poorer of the two but Donnarumma is a monster in goal so you can't blame them too much.

Hopefully Ibou is ok for the weekend, I'd say Trent could be gone for a cupla weeks at least.

Have to go on and win at the weekend now and wrap up the league asap.

We need better quality in midfield to supplement szob grav and mac. We also need a new striker. Jota for his injury record and dwindling pace and nunez because he has no composure whatsoever.

Will also need to replace trent and robbo.

Big summer ahead but we are shopping as the premier league champions so we should be very attractive

That hurts, but at least we were knocked out by a team that probably deserved it. We could have won but not to be. Last time we got knocked out at home in the R16 we went on to win the league, let's hope for a repeat. On to this weekend, we have some time to rest and prepare and hopefully we can get it done this weekend and then get the league wrapped up. Still it hurts.

Jammy goal but in the end the French moaning all week won it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 326 ✭✭Mr.CoolGuy

They needed to try and hit the top corners and none of them tried. Salah in fairness was confident of sending him the wrong way but Jones was an awful attempt considering the goalkeeper he was up against.

Cameraman knew exactly what he was doing zoning in on Slots face while Darwin was walking up. Don’t think he did it for any of other penos.

Insane to dominate the group league table and go out to an awful draw but it’s all about the league for me. Was worried about the going 120mins twice this week and the risk to the players. Hopefully seeing konate walking around shaking hands at the end means he’s okay but worried about Trent .

Was it true Trent wanted to keep playing and was annoyed slot subbed him? He wasn’t walking around at the end - Konate likely be okay not injured people think ?

Could easily see Darwin, Diaz and Jota all leaving in the Summer.

One thing they should change, after the knock out the 2 lowest ranked teams go up against 1 and 2 for the draw. This should not be difficult, if 24th in the league win their knockout match they should not take the place of the 9th placed team. Not much of an advantage to finish 1st if you are still going to play a mid table team and not a lower ranked team.

You wouldn’t begrudge PSG going through, as impressive a side I’ve seen us play in quite some time, shades of us in our pomp under Klopp they are devastating at the break, we’ve Alisson to thank for us even making it to penalties. Thought we had good chances in the second half and let PSG get back into it in extra time unfortunately.

We are far too reliant on Grav-Mac-Szobo in the middle and they’re going to look shot come seasons end, Salah for his amazing season so far is liable to a couple games like tonight and last week where he’s just abject and nothing goes for him.

The real kicker is obviously a draining 120+ minutes of football midweek before the cup final next Sunday, with Trent gone off injured too that will be a tough ask for the lads. It is however their last game till April so they’ll just have to seriously dig into their reserves to get through it.

Very disappointing all things considered, especially when you look at that PSG goal.

Liverpool look a tired team. Newcastle will have enjoyed the fact it went to ET, you could hear Shearer's delight in his voice on Amazon.

You'd just hope they can pick themselves up for the Final on Sunday.

Also thought the crowd were anxious versus supportive tonight. Maybe it was the TV but felt more pressure could've been put on psg.

Maybe it's a reflection on how good psg were

Let down by the attackers across the 2 legs, if Salah's not firing then we've got nobody.

Actually looking back on it now we had some great chances. Crazy that we didn’t even score one.

Both Nunez and Diaz passed on excellent chances to shoot tonight when clean through on goal. Both of them only had the goalkeeper to beat, both of them decided to cut back or pass. In both cases, it was the wrong call.

If these chances fall to Salah then the keeper is at least making a save.

I think I'm pretty much done with the two lads now. We are overly reliant on Salah.

I didn't think there was a team I'd dislike more than Real winning the CL but PSG clinched it there for me with their post match behaviour.

Premier Sport made them up using AI I'd say. According to every report Liverpool were absolutely hammered the whole 2 games

Disappointed but not raging, PSG have massively improved this season and are a match for anyone, was just our luck they were dreadful at the start of the season to get them in the draw!

A blip on an otherwise great season, could have a cup at the end of the week and number 20 in a month. I can easily console myself with that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 787 ✭✭✭Rugbyf565

Yeah I’d like to see two new central midfielders, 1 striker, 1 winger and a left back. If Trent leaves, I’d like to see a creative right back come in. Cannot overstate how important Trent is; he is the 7th best crosser in the league (5.8 crosses per 90mins with 28.6% success rate), and he is the 8th best chance creator in the league (6 assists, 51 chances created, 6.72 XA).

Yeah said it about a month ago that all of Diaz, Nunez, and Jota are at risk this summer and none have shown enough to change my mind too much so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,424 ✭✭✭antimatterx

Yep I see them going also. Probably a LB, CB as well at least. Going to be busy

Hakimi went flying a PSG flag in front of the Kop

Jota is my favourite of the three of them but he's the first one I'd sell. At least the other two are available most weeks.

This season Slots system isn't looking for the CF to score many goals (I'd imagine the stots taken and big chances by our CF are way down on previous seasons) from what I can see so I'm wondering will it be the same again next year or will we change it up and go back to the CF being the main threat next season.

Couple of very good chances and hit the post tonight If one went in we would have gone on to win comfortably I think. We were probably the better side for more than half of tonights tie..... Just however. But we never looked like putting it to bed.

We were knackered in extra time and even the subs didn't seem to give us extra energy

We just lack that striker if Salah is getting shut down or is off target

They countered well but they controlled the tie overall and probably deserved to go through

It felt like it was not meant to be, every last ditch block, hitting the post and not going in when all logic tell you a spinning header like that must go in. Salah early on should have went down for a penalty, he was caught , but stayed up right to curl a shot wide. Fate was not with us tonight.
