I don't know what surprises me more. The fact that he's giving credit to somebody else to somebody that he did himself or the fact he name checked Herbert Sandler, a man who died 6 years ago, as one of the people involved

I hate to ask this of someone who is clearly deep in the well of crazy, but you do understand that ActBlue is an open donation platform, similar to the likes of GoFundMe or Kickstarter etc?

So Musk linking this anti-Tesla action to some of the many people who helped found and fund that platform (alllllll the way back in 2004) is purely an attempt to rile up internet loonies who foam at the mouth at the mention of George Soros (without knowing a single thing about him).

If you don't think there's genuine anger towards Elon Musk and therefore Tesla, you must seriously love to gobble down the propaganda

There's a global network behind it, some snippets from their own website…

Since launching in 2012, Action Network tools have helped the Women’s March mobilize huge rallies across the globe, helped the DNC raised millions for candidates and organizations, and much more.

We developed the ActBlue sync with our Development Partners at the DNC to help Action Network partners raise more money on ActBlue than ever before.

    Use the ActBlue sync to:

    • Track your ActBlue donors and amount raised on Action Network
    • Track donation data to specific emails
    • Break out donations statistics by email test variant
    • Track and target your ActBlue express lane donors
    • Track your ActBlue donors to the fundraising pages they donated to

The anger is being promoted by the DNC, it's a clear as day and they don't even try and hide it. Doge is going after these non profits and NGO's.

No sign of an Irish event yet, no doubt we'll see one soon as there's genuine anger out here.

It's a gofundme for left-leaning/Democrat causes in the US. It's perfectly legal.

It's similar to WinRed for Republicans. Except that WinRed is for-profit instead of non-profit and doesn't disclose donations to the FEC.

Why is this your go to:

When the whole thing can easily be explained by this:

Overall indexes down between 2-3% ten minutes after opening but Tesla continues to decline at a faster rate at 6%.

    and yet it’s still got a p/e of 120 🤪.

I’m certain that the end of the quarter delivery numbers will be countered by musk doing one of his ‘huge announcement of something happening in the distant future’.

Last year was the model 2, or was that the previous year and last year was the taxi thing.

He’s bored of selling cars, that’s for sure.

So what this reply tells me is — no, you don't understand what ActBlue is. Or you do and you're just sticking your fingers in your ears and going "la la la la"

Either way, utterly useless posts, thanks for subjecting my brain to such drivel

    That share price :)

    Does Musk even care?

Maybe Tesla is now a has beens and the other auto makers will take it from here.

I’m not getting the VW share price rise, it’s hardly people thinking they’re the next Tesla or an anti tesla play. Don’t hold any vw, Porsche or Tesla any more.

Last bet was on Xiaomi when they announced the su7 and I’m still holding, it’s worth looking into.

Edolf needs to think of more moonshot ideas to hype the share price again. Robotaxi and Optimus isn't working🤡

it’s only back at nov 2024 levels. Wouldn’t get too excited yet.

Still a decline of 50+% compared to its peak, probably costing Musk around $100 billion.

Of course seeing how crazy things are, the stock could go in the opposite direction tomorrow if the market (private investors in particular) buy into the next ridiculous promise that comes from Musk.

todays tsla action smells like a standard capitulation phase - where investors bailed slowly for the past month, and then suddenly. A 15% drop for a 800bn company is a monster single-day move. It’s $120bn of net selling.

its 52wk low is $139, and if its capitulating this ‘early’, it’s unlikely to plumb new lows this time around - ie the momentum is still there, it’s just weeding out the weak investors.

investors who stay invested now will be the ones who aren’t bothered about his political views.

Let's not wish a sharp decline in Tesla share price too quickly, without giving citizens here a chance to move company pensions over to non-equity based categories. Many Irish pensions are linked 25%+ to the "Magnificent 7" US tech stocks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,001 ✭✭✭sk8board

well the funds will hold those stocks in proportion to their size of the overall market the fund invests in (eg if it’s a US-only fund, the proportion will obviously be a higher). last time I looked at my own, I think Apple was the largest holding, around 2%, so presumably tsla is less than a single % of any fund. It wouldn’t cost me a single wink of sleep.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,458 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

Not universal though. Many pensions are much deeper into the magnificent 7 than yours.

TSLA isn't the only stock on the slide either. Doesn't do anyone in this country any good, although a CEO change might rally Tesla stock it's unlikely to positively affect Microsoft, Nvidia, or Google while the US is so volatile right now.

It would take steady hands to short this down to $113. If it dips to $170/180 terrority it's worth loading the truck, you'll still probably get a nice return this year if buying in a around $200 if it goes that low, June/July should see some momentum when sales are moving well and a possible model Q.

The old adaje applies, buy the rumour(musk is hitler, owners getting Nazi salutes from subaru drivers and pedestrains), sell the news(stock is in free flow and selling well when Juniper starts landing in real numbers).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,001 ✭✭✭sk8board

True, but they’re pensions, so by their very nature you should be checking on it every year or even every few years. Days like today are far more common since 2008, and you’d do well to just ignore them.

Tesla is a massively complicated stock too, for lots of reasons. It’s effectively a momentum stock, so it’s going to be more volatile than the market

Eh, excuse me, those Subaru drivers and pedestrians were doing Roman salutes.

You would think this is a joke?! Tesla sales figures must be looking pretty poor if this is what they come up with now. It will be interesting to see how the markets react.

“But the Radical Left Lunatics, as they often do, are trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla, one of the World’s great automakers, and Elon’s ‘baby,’ in order to attack and do harm to Elon, and everything he stands for.

“I’m going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American.

“Why should he be punished for putting his tremendous skills to work in order to help MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN???”

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 566 ✭✭✭DrPsychia

Trump trying to pump TSLA which is clearly a highly overvalued stale company, led by a fascist.

Imagine if Obama or Biden named a specific American product, in the oval office, that they were going to buy as a show of support. Republicans would be screaming corruption, impeachment, ethics, abuse of power, conflict of interest.

When it's their cult leader, no problemo, business as usual, it's patriotism.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,001 ✭✭✭sk8board

there’s a very likely scenario whereby we simply become accustomed to musks antics and this period of ‘cancel musk’ will dissipate just like all the other things that raise the ire of the internet, and Tesla sales start to rise again. The cars are great, if you’re in the market for it.

If sales drop 10% this year, it’s just 180,000 people worldwide deciding to choose some other EV. You could argue that probably half of that 180k would’ve chosen something else purely down to the fact that there are now so many options (I’m in the vw pcp cycle, so the ID3 GTX is the only vw EV for me for example)

It’s really so so few people that this whole musk ire matters to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,043 ✭✭✭✭fits

Well if it’s getting MAGA types into EVs. every cloud has a silver lining.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,657 ✭✭✭yagan

New options are definitely eroding teslas market share in China where other brands have more tech for less, but I would imagine there are people put off the brand elsewhere just avoid a falling resale value.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 566 ✭✭✭DrPsychia

Valid point, it is possible but I hope not.

I do empathise with people who've wanted to buy a Tesla for years, but they weren't in the financial position to buy one before Elon Goebbels rhetoric started to become quite dark.

One such guy I work with has very liberal views, and has worked really hard for years, he bought a new M3 recently. He's delighted with his purchase but also feels terrible that he's supporting Elon by extension. He said he just had an itch to scratch and will never buy another Tesla again unless Musk leaves the company.

Those of us, myself included, who already had the Tesla ownership experience, sometimes forget what that feeling of wanting to own a Tesla, or any specific brand of car, felt like. Therefore I feel empathy for my colleague. What differentiates my opinion of him from particular posters on this forum is his unadultered hatred for Musk, and everything Musk supports and stands for.

Musk and Trump think that they are correct in everything they are doing and they have a solid following of Magas to keep them in that state of wilful ignorance. The reality is that the majority of Americans hate what Musk is doing and an even bigger majority around the world feel the same about his antics and his God complex. TSLA is goig to absolutely tank well beyond the current price IMO because as Elon stated so loudly to advertisers and indirectly to the world "Go fukk yourself" He's getting it returned now in spades. If he stays TESLA are done.
