According to Amorim sales need to be made.

    IMG_20250228_225357.jpg

Hopefully Rashford and Anthony keep up the form and earn us 50m+, Sancho will be 25m if I remember correctly. I think Garnacho is a gonner too so another 60-70m, Malacia Im guessing 10m? The usual kids being sold for a few million each we should have a healthy transfer budget.

    Easier said than done obviously.

I was raging with Garna during the week at the time.

    But..

Would be a player id like to keep tbh, he just needs to get grounded and think about actions off the pitch. He has shown he can put the head down and move on after the a spat. He's still a young lad in this team.

Think Ruben could be the guy to be firm but also be good enough to communicate on how to go.

He's still so young and has a extreme amount of growth in the game yet to go.

Edit: (Realise I'm contradicting myself since my last comment about him but the head has cooled a bit since then with more info coming out)

Rashford and Sancho alone are on massive wages so not just the sale of them wages free will be huge for us.

    Sancho 25mil (250k a week)

    Rashford 40-45mil (325k a week)

    Anthony 20-30mil (120ish a week)

Saying we hit top sale value that's 100mil

Wages saved is nearly 36.5mil in wages alone.

We are about 300mil(ish) in debt with transfers owed so only Rashford would be true profit, while being the highest earner and the most we could get for this summer.

Still crazy money off the books on all 3.

Casemiro will stay till the end of his contract on 325k no doubt and won't go anywhere.

We can't just get rid of everyone. If Rashford, Sancho, Antony and even Garnacho let's say were sold where does that leave us in terms of depth in those positions.

Casemiro if he was on 100K I don't think anyone would have a problem with someone of his experience staying around. I thought he did very well when he came on the other night. Shows the difference of having players around him. He still has a very good footballing IQ and is very good on the ball. You would think he should be a help to younger players coming through as well.

    In the championship…

Leicester and Southampton looked great in the championship last year but their players look like they are miles off the level this year.

Trafford's age profile might fit but nothing else does. You can't take a keeper from a championship team and throw them in at Utd simple as.

He'd be eaten alive. And no even if Burnley are in the PL and letting goals in there won't be a tiny fraction of the level of scrutiny that a Utd keeper faces.

All I can say is Trafford's last showing at this level did nothing to suggest he'd be a Utd level keeper. And he won't be cheap either

None of them play for us, so leaves us where we are with budget to bring in players that do play.

I dont see any point in keeping Garnacho. Even if he was model pro, he’s not suited to 10 or wingback. Cash in and buy players who fit.

Also I’m sure the whispers in Jan of Mainoo being available is ‘no smoke without fire’. Feck sentiment. Get a big transfer fee and buy players who fit the system.

United have a huge amount of young talent. But no point hanging on to them if they are not going to be first team players. They either save money (not having to buy a player) or generate money so you can get the right players.

Europa league would be a huge bonus to get into CL and be able to attract the best players (in particular Isak who would be the perfect proven 9). Any one of 5 or 6 have an equal chance of winning it, including United. Last year you had to beat Liverpool and City to win the FA Cup and there is no-one of that calibre in the EL. Of course United could lose to anyone also.

Sancho signed for Chelsea in all but name in the summer. United haven't been paying him at all from what I can see.

We won't be getting big names in the summer unless pile cash comes out of nowhere

We have to look at up and coming players rather than proven going forward for short term

Don't think that's all a bad thing. Club was reckless for decade.

Would any of the Southampton squad improve united? Ramsdale if he was £15 odd million? Walker Peters on a free for RWB? Dibling?

I like the CM they have on loan from Chelsea.

Direct cover for Amad? I guess the issue would be putting funds into a non-priority position.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,776 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

Amad will mostly be a number 10, I think we've been linked with Quenda who will be the RWB.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,007 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

Cuhna for the no.10 or striker role id like us to look at.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,776 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

I'd love a Van Der Sar type signing in goal, experienced and commanding.

He's my favourite bargain signing we made.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,297 ✭✭✭thefa

Seen his name mentioned alright. I’ve thought the benefits of having strong footed, aggressive wing backs has shown in Dorgu already. Bit worried that the likes of a Quenda (or Dibling) on the right won’t be the greatest, particularly combined with Diallo also looking to cut in from at RAM. Trusting Amorim to gauge the best for the team though.

So presumably back to Dalot LWB and Maz RWB tomorrow?

Gutted to lose Dorgu. He'll miss Arsenal & Leicester too.

I wonder what player will cause an error leading to Fulhams opener.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,007 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

Mad how he's such a big loss already for those games, he seems a legit player.

It shows with the right players, Amorim given time and a few transfer windows could get a team going.

Can't say I've seen Dorgu do anything close to say this yet. Been ok. Hasn't come in and had 5 assists or something incredible. He has plenty of time on his side but seems just like any new signing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,647 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

Absolutely still very early days but what you can say about him is that he is definitely got the right athletic profile. He's very quick and seems to have high stamina.

I like what I've seen so far of him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,007 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

The left side just seems a whole lot better so far. Not saying he's a world beater but he offers a lot more so far than what we've seen previously

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,225 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

Exactly. He hasn't set the world alight, but he's simply (so far) a competent LWB. Something that without him we do not have.

    🤔🤔🤔

Harsh for someone to do that imo, that's not on.

There's gonna be an online media/fan meltdown today after we lose 2-1 at home to Fulham.

I'm already picking out the rock to crawl under for the next 2 or 3 weeks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,297 ✭✭✭thefa

    Nah, we’re Fulhams bogey team!

That season opener seems like a very long time ago. Plenty of good chances but the only goal was an awkward finish from Zirkzee. Pereira botching a fairly easy through ball for a 1-on-1 helped too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,647 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

I'd rest a few today personally. I know we need every avenue possible to get into Europe but I think the Europa league suits us better.

We don't really have that luxury do we?

LIndelof is the only other senior defender who is fit.

Ugarte, Casemiro, Eriksen + Bruno only central midfielders.

Hojlund, Zirkzee, Garnacho + Bruno only attacking options.

Not much wiggle room for resting players there. Don't think anyone else is back?

At least Dorgu will be another option for Thursday
