He has been incredibly frustrating so far this match. Lots of good play but he's taking on incredibly low percentage shots and wasting possession.

We’re finally throwing the ball like the rest of the country if you can’t beat them then join them 🤣

Kenny elite at 11. Leave him there. He's finding pockets of space around the middle that I'm not sure anyone else can and getting the ball in dangerous areas.

People keep harping on about the ball in. Inside line can't get any separation from their markers, in some cases are behind them and their first touch is desperate at times. He's young and he'll improve but Shine getting a lesson in senior hurling.

Yeah I actually think the ball into the forwards has improved this evening apart from a couple of Hail Marys. Carey very solid at centre back so far.

Stephen donnelly going off was a big loss. He got a goal and won 2 frees.. yes shine is a bit slow but some of the ball that went in the first half was scandalous. Some players had plenty of time but drove it to the spare Cork man in defence. Very poorly executed. Mossy very quite

Yes to be fair Donnelly was the best of our inside forwards in 1st half. Body seems to let him down a lot by looks of it

Johnny murphy not giving us much

Ref not keeping up with the rules penalising Blanchfield

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,369 ✭✭✭JJs Left Hand

The long range wides are criminal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,066 ✭✭✭kksaints

Hes lost the plot with some of his decisions in the last 10 minutes. We're making the wrong choices too often atm.

Real home town performance from him

Cork decision making is a lot better than ours the last ten mins alright plus the bench has had a big impact for them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 154 ✭✭Box to box

    Deegan is having a nightmare

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,369 ✭✭✭JJs Left Hand

Blanchfield got an almighty roasting there but ultimately our forwards aren't good enough by a long stretch. The ball in isn't great at times and a lot of that is the obsession with the diagonal ball but their first touch, inability to win their own ball and get a yard on their marker is our biggest flaw by far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 421 ✭✭droppingball

Blanchfield has been cleaned for 1 5 from play and decision making and pot shots have been shocking. Way worse than Deegan today.

Jordan Molloy and Cian Kenny our best players. Injuries to Lawlor and Kenny will hurt us in next two games.

Worrying for is Eoin Cody's form, can't make space and is not on any ball. A good few man markers have his number, might have to go half forward.

Deegan not the problem, Blanchfield on the other side was destroyed. How did he last the full 75 mins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,124 ✭✭✭Charlie69

We had our usual fade out in the last quarter and again no real huge impact off the bench.

Donnelly and Mullen will obviously make a difference up front and hopefully Stephen Donnellys injury not serious as he looks like he can make it at this level.

Nice touch by Kilkenny number 7 to make a point of making his way to Pat Ryan at the end of the match and said a few words.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,369 ✭✭✭JJs Left Hand

Agreed on Kenny. As soon as he went off there was noone for our backs to give the ball to

Kenny was our only real puck out option for most of that second half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 421 ✭✭droppingball

Didn't think Deegan done anything wrong, he can be the fall guy sometimes. Moylan looked decent the short while he was on. But the worrying thing is bar maybe Molloy and Shane Murphy we will have almost exact same team as last three years.

Whatever about his marker getting a few scores that can happen but the brainless stuff from Blanchfield with loads of time on the ball drove me crazy…. Eoin Murphy guilty of it too and really both of these players have enough experience to know better at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,369 ✭✭✭JJs Left Hand

The sideways free from Murphy to Blanch only for him to put it 5 yards wide. Why? Just why? What was the logic there.

I'm not a fan of Deegan but he had a good game tonight. Severely caught for pace tho as chasing Healy a few times showed. Carey, Molloy and Kenny excellent. Losing Lawlor was a massive blow and no impact off the bench. Oh what we would do to see a Diarmuid Healy break on the scene amd excite us all in Kilennny . Harry Shine does not look fit

That was a winnable match and makes the next a must win.Another Poor second half and only scored 5 points from play. This is a theme the last few years. The area around stamina and s&c is glaring. Its an awful pity the county board take so many shortcuts. Scruff must of known someone in the stand that he was driving the ball into the stand so often. Some of his puckouts were woeful I don't know how anyone thinks the ball in is improving.cian Kenny and Jordan molloy both good. Deegan isn't able to mark so trying to make a position for him wingback isn't going to work. They may leave cody on the frees because kk haven't a natural free taker when tj goes probably this year. He has a lot of practising to do and you would half to wonder why wasn't this done a few years ago. We expected billy drennan to kick on. He has to try blood lads ive no problem with that but Stephen donnelly the only positive up front and unfortunately is injury prone. 5 points from play in the second half is very poor and the same problems stay the same

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 313 ✭✭jamesbond2022

    Positives

We seemed to have a puckout strategy in the first half and found Kenny and molloy a few times it wasn’t all route one

Daragh Fitz gibbon hardly had a puck

I thought m butler and deegan were much improved and Carey had another good game in the centre s Donnelly looks like he has more to offer

    Negatives

    No impact off the bench

    Blanchfield had a shocker

The wides in the first half came back to haunt us

    Injuries to Lawlor and Kenny

Lost our shape in the second half

    Eoin codys form

I do think if we get John Donnelly and a fully fit Mullen back we’re a completely different team up front and a lot goes through thoose two and they open up space for others

Molloy has to start come championship thought he had a great game

Realistically can any back like stop the likes of Barrett o Flynn etc when there in fully flow

There was a lot of things to like about how we played tonight it’s not all doom and gloom

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,124 ✭✭✭Charlie69

Yeah that’s one of the incidents I was referring to and actually they were both brainless there.

I wouldn’t be as negative as some though, Cian Kenny becoming a real leader, I thought Carey was good again tonight and Molloy and S Donnelly could easily make the breakthrough this year. Mikey Butler starting to look a little steadier but there is a place up for grabs in the other corner.

We could easily have won that game and as I said earlier Donnelly and Mullen will be huge additions if we can get them fit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,673 ✭✭✭me89

Not sure how you have come to this conclusion, had a very good first half and not bad 2nd.

Kenny was excellent, he just finds pockets of space and so clever on the ball.

The full forward line are just to slow and couldn't get away from there man, the ball in wasn't bad at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,124 ✭✭✭Charlie69

Eoin Cody a worry alright but our biggest problem is finding a way to get him on the ball more… he showed with the point he scored tonight and in previous games that he’s well able to take his scores when he gets chances he just seems to be out of the game for awfully long periods.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 726 ✭✭✭Conversations 3

Cody passed a few balls that he'd usually take on, so at least he's taking that on board.

Apologies I meant blanch. To be fair he has being consistent but he was poor tonight. Oppositions copping onto the dummys. Another big fade out. 5 points from play in the second half is very poor..molloy and Kenny were the positives and if they could get Stephen donnelly fit. Kenny could give something different but need to find a midfield partner ship because the spine has changed so many times.Killian doyle isn't ready. I know the forwards aren't the quickest but the ball in isn't working. I'm all for blooding lads but we just aren't producing fowards.
