Israel have committed so many war crimes on a consistent basis they were/are terrified to let international journalists report on what they were doing in Gaza. In fact they murdered numerous journalists, the most in any war in recent history.

    Itself a war crime.

Stop being blasé about all of this. It's, frankly, disgusting.

Innocents may die in wars, but they're absolutely guaranteed to die when they're targeted…and that is not "accepted".

Are you suggesting that I have an issue with brown Muslims??

Literally have stated many many times, that anyone committing war crimes should be prosecuted. All sides commit war crimes. Not sure how that's so difficult to understand.

When terrorists embed themselves amongst the most vulnerable members of the population bad things will always happen .

    Those tunnels didn’t dig themselves………

They're colonising outside their borders. Thats not self defence.

More on the targeting of medical personnel -

"During interrogations, he says he was tortured and beaten. “They would throw me on the ground. One would hit me on the head while the other opened my ear and poured water inside,” he says.

“There was a bathroom [in the interrogation room] … [they] would take a toilet brush and tell me ‘today we are going to brush your teeth.’ I was tied up, blindfolded and three or four of them held my face, pinned it down and kept scrubbing.”

Abu Ajwa says they broke his teeth: “They have no humanity.”

I'll ask again - you might have missed it:

As a direct question, do you think all efforts should be made to bring Netanyahu and Gallant to The Hague to stand trial for War Crimes? Even that Israelis themselves have a duty to ensure the two accused are delivered to the ICC?

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,922 ✭✭✭✭suvigirl

Which part of those responsible for war crimes should be prosecuted is hard to understand? Anyone who is responsible should be held accountable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,096 ✭✭✭dmcdona

You do know that Israel built a lot of them and financed Hamas to build the rest?

And the 'auld victim blaming line is really getting tired at this point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,096 ✭✭✭dmcdona

Ah now, no need for the deflection there. It's a simple question - I'll shorten it to just the one:

Do you think all efforts should be made to bring Netanyahu and Gallant to The Hague to stand trial for War Crimes?

All efforts should be made to bring anyone responsible for war crimes to justice.

I have absolutely no idea. The flippancy in your posts when you speak about Palestinian lives being taken violently...

I.e. Innocents die in war, Israel is defending itself, ah about the babies again!

.... makes me think you don't particularly value their lives very much, or see them as having much worth.

Am I picking you up wrong, or do you think all the innocent Israelis killed on October 7th as being collateral damage aswell? Do you say "ah about the babies again!" when people mention infants killed on October 7th?

If not, there must be a reason, and I'm wondering if Palestinians being white and Christian would change your apparent view on them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,550 ✭✭✭✭Brendan Bendar

I presume you have robust back up for that assertion?

Nevertheless holing up in areas where innocent people are likely to congregate is hardly playing by any rules.

There seems to be a bit of a blind spot when it comes Middle East in our country.

Are Hamas not a terrorist group? Terrorist groups don't tend to play by rules (well neither do democratic countries either it seems, which this particular one gets free passes for).

The existence of terrorism doesn't mean its ok to mill through hundreds of thousands of civilians and completely destroy a city of 2 million people, blockade aid and food, drop 2000ibs bombs on tented villages, because some of them might be terrorists. What if the British decided to do that here because of the IRA - would you think that acceptable?

Are you saying the person has to be proven to have carried out war crimes before being brought to justice. If so, how does that work exactly, when your trying to bring someone accused of war crimes to court to prove them guilty. You're mangled words are just a catch 22. Just give a straight answer to @dmcdona question.

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,922 ✭✭✭✭suvigirl

    You're suggesting I'm racist/anti 'brown Muslim'

You couldnt be further from the truth so I won't be replying to any of your trolling posts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,116 ✭✭✭Miniegg

Absolutely not trolling - it is an honest question.

I gave examples of your posts, and do not understand the flippancy. I don't see you speaking about Israeli victims like that

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,922 ✭✭✭✭suvigirl

How in the world did you get that? I said anyone responsible for war crimes should be brought to justice and held accountable, regardless of their nationality, ethnicity or anything else.

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,922 ✭✭✭✭suvigirl

I answered your 'honest question ' where you accuse me of being racist/ anti brown Muslim.

it's common fact and has been discussed here at length in the past. A simple Google will confirm it for you.

How does that work when the state, itself, is guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity?

Israel's monstrous behaviour over the last year or so isn't just a case of a few bad actors. It's a matter of state policy being enacted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,550 ✭✭✭✭Brendan Bendar

Aah no I meant ‘robust’ information not really internet chaff.

Either way it’s not really relevant. Let’s not go down the road of nitpicking.

Both sides are fully culpable of atrocities, it’s only agreement and dialogue the conflict

    can be resolved.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,096 ✭✭✭dmcdona

Many reputable sources, including Israelis, have confirmed both facts - Israel built tunnels in Gaza and Netanyahu funded Hamas. So not "chaff" at all.

It's interesting how, when challenged, it suddenly becomes "not relevant". I wonder why that is?

But we are agreed that both Hamas and Israel are capable of atrocities - though 95% plus of those atrocities lie squarely at the feet of the IDF and Israeli govt. Borne out by the fact that the ICC and ICJ are involved.

Bear in mind, the current ceasefire deal was put to Israel by Hamas last summer. Israel chose not to take it - presumably because they were keen to turn Gaza into dust and shred every living thing. They even had daily tourist buses head over there to view the Genocide in all its glory. This simply proved that the govt. didn't care one jot about the Palestinians or the hostages and their families. They still don't.

You are fooling yourself I think. And avoiding the point.

What you call self defence, I see as uncontrolled bloodthirsty revenge with zero care for humanitarian laws or civilians. They clearly can't wait to resume either.

Innocent die in war...you can't validate the mostly one sided death and destruction like that. Surprised at your nonchalant replies to be honest.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Seems Israel is intent on making sure stage 2 does not go ahead.

    Haaretz:
Israel will not withdraw from Gaza's Philadelphi route, an Israeli official said following the return of the four hostages' bodies, despite the upcoming Saturday deadline for the withdrawal. Defense Minister Israel Katz said that Israel had received information indicating that Hamas was planning on attacking soldiers and communities even during the cease-fire, which Hamas denied as "baseless."

Seems the Iranian Secret Service has been undermining Israel for months and has recruited and handsomely paid for a top level double agent…

Israeli authorities arrested a 26-year-old resident of Petah Tikva who they say acted on behalf of an Iranian operative. According to a statement, the suspect had been in contact with the Iranian operative for several months and, under their guidance, carried out "dozens of incidents of spray-painting graffiti in the Petah Tikva and Rosh HaAyin areas in exchange for payment."

Why is Netanyahu so despised by Israelis?

"While the country took on orange colors, and the broken-hearted populace followed the funeral procession of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas to bestow last honors on them, Netanyahu, who was in court, tried to appropriate the event for his own purposes... For Netanyahu, the bodies of Bibas' loved ones – civilians kidnapped in their pajamas on his watch and murdered in captivity – are national assets he uses for propaganda purposes, for public diplomacy, or for manipulations in court, according to his needs." – Haaretz Editorial

Confirmed number of Israeli civilians killed in the 510 days:

    • Israel's National Insurance Institute said that 924 Israeli civilians have been killed since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, 2023.
