We were miles better with garnacho on them when he wasn't he ignored two overlaps today and one of those he found zirzkee in a better position.

He is great at finding space to receive the ball, he is always looking for the ball, he progress the ball well, he was easily out most dangerous player again on his short stint on the pitch.

He has stuff to iron out in his game, but he is only 20 we are currently miles better when he is in the pitch, the criticism for him, is getting a bit over the top, he has shown he is willing to change his game (has cut out shooting on sight, better cutbacks off his left foot) I'm sure he will start using the wb better soon too

That lad on Instagram that Hojlund was replying to in DMs looks like he was right all along

We were miles better once Casemiro came off.

He is very direct but his inability to play the simple ball is something he hasn't really improved on. He's 20 but has a lot of games under his belt. To be still making the same mistakes over and over again isn't a good sign.

The good news is Arsenal, Chelsea and Bournemouth lost today and Liverpool play City tomorrow so at least one of them will drop points, closing the gap between us and the top 6. It's the little victories.

The people who'll tell you Maguires challenge was a pen will tell you Cucerrallas challenge was not. Was barely noted in commentary other than Smith mumbling something when the lad pulled down the Chelseas players arm with both hands. They must have spent 20 minutes post match talking about Maguire. Would nearly put ye off watching games on telly with the nonsense you'd be hearing

AWB playing like a reborn Cafu this Season for the Hammers…..yet another Utd cast off starring for his new club.Has been excellent all Season.

Sent in a brilliant cross for Bowens winner today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,226 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

He wouldn't have been cast off if he done that for us, was brilliant defending but awful once he got near the box.

Listening to MOTD and that unbearable Murphy talking out his ass as usual

Murphy fails to add that this lack of effort, lack of running has been the same case under ETH and many mangers before.

What a load of **** crap from this Pundit as usual

These players have been like this for many seasons and until they are fecked out of our club, this **** will continue

    Rashford with two assists today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,857 ✭✭✭Whatsisname

Nice of him to look like he gives a **** for Villa, didn’t have that energy about him for us for a long time.

Not just Murphy, it's pretty much all ex players that go on as pundits.

We have the most that have radio/tv airtime and I'm genuinely thinking stfu. Offer no insight but just jump on the click on what will be heard.

I've no time really for ex footballers turned pundits.

Only saw MOTD highlights but my God Onana is up there with Massimo Taibi for goalkeeping blunders…..he costs us too many points each Season, instead of gaining us points like good consistent keepers do.

Dalot,MDL and Maguire error strewn throughout,Casemiro might as well have sat down in centre circle and built a sandcastle for his time on the pitch,Rasmus and Zirkzee seemed poor again…..although service to front players is so poor.

Bruno’s passing wayward as always, cracking free kick to save face 😅……

Think it was Mitch listing a possible team for next Season…..personally I would go for more Premier League tested players this Summer to ensure quick integration into a functioning team……..and try and buy young, hardworking players at that.

Can’t afford a new keeper, and limited enough funds for a cb probably…..need a LCB as Shaw & Martinez can’t stay fit…..would love Brantwaithe but he will be too expensive.

We desperately need a goal poacher upfront, with Rasmus as an understudy.

    So here’s my two cents🙂

    Starting Team- (fully fit squad)

    Bayindir

    Maz MDl New signing

Amad Ugarte Bruno (staying deep) Dorgu

    Mbuemo Mainoo

    Cunha/Delap

Subs-Onana,Yoro,Maguire,Dalot,Shaw (buy a better fit option in the Summer for LCB),Martinez,Collyer,Gore,Garnacho,Chi-do, Casemiro ……etc.

Bruno would have to be disciplined and not leave Ugarte exposed and would create passing triangles involving Mainoo.

Big emphasis on the 3 CB’s taking far less time dawdling on the ball before playing it through the lines.

Garnacho to come on against tiring defenders to hopefully wreak havoc.

If either Cunha or Delap could be got for say 60m with a possible makeweight like Zirkzee going into the deal it would be great.

Mbuemo has tremendous strength, direct running and scoring power and wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg.Daamsgard is hard working, very creative and can finish as well and could be got for 30-35m.

The Saudis have zero interest in Cas so he ain’t going anywhere!😢

Not ideal to be starting Bayindir but he’s less error prone than Onana!

Have fun taking my side apart!🤣

Likely to be voted HOTY. They are well pleased with him.

💯 Agree. I do still giggle though at my kids calendar they got for Christmas where Rashford was January. It was meant to be.

I don't think Amorim can turn this tanker around.

Even with a summer transfer window and pre-season (along with whatever else is left in this write-off of a season). Amorim did good work with Sporting, but the resilience required to work with such a basket case club and useless bunch of players is on another level.

Generally a team experiences that 'new manager bounce', but I can't say that has been apparent at all under Amorim. The effort from the players is simply not there. or the manager is not conveying his tactics well-enough. From what I can recall (and happily open to correction here), but when Klopp replaced Rodgers, he took over at a similar point in the season as Amorim (around October 2015). By the time United played Liverpool in the Eurpoa League games in March, his style was already beginning to embed in the team, and what's more is the bang average players in the squad had bought into his tactics. Arguably that Liverpool squad was worse than what Klopp inherited, not by much though.

Also, how infuriating is it too to see players cast-off thrive at other clubs who would have been great fits in Amorim's system? AWB, Alvaro and McTominay spring to mind - Likewise, DDG has been incredibly solid for Fiorentina, while Onana yesterday was disastrous continuously parrying shots back into dangerous areas. The whole narrative about Onana's distribution and playing out from the back seems totally overblown when compared to his lack of ability in some of the basics. DDG was not Ederson by any means when it came to playing-out, but he was a solid keeper who saved the team more points than he dropped.

    Yes.

He looked a very good player when he signed for utd and since he left.

Which does make me wonder why the same applies to quiet a few that signed in this bleak era.

Is there a correlation between leaving Utd and suddenly playing much better?

Is Rashford's (albeit small sample) performances for Villa another example?

    Antony?

    McTominay?

They get comfy with huge salaries.

Antony is doing what he done for us at the start plus in a league were defenders give you more space.

McTominay is doing what he done best under ETH and playing in his natural position and not being shifted to CM/DM, he was sold for PSR purposes.

Rashford has barely done much more than usual and is playing for a move, play better he can negotiate a better contract at the new club.

He has a very poor return of goals and assists, especially this season for someone who receives the ball in such threatening positions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,349 ✭✭✭Caustic

You can say the same for every attacker outside of Amad, garnacho has been improving, he has impacted games very positively when he has come on or started in the last number of game weeks. Sure it a low bar currently but he is a young lad at 20 who seems to have got the head down since the manger has come in and is working on improving the things he wants him to do, we can allow him a little bit of credit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,349 ✭✭✭Caustic

It is if you ignore all the players that haven't gone on to do anything or even worse (pogba) and that players get over hyped by the media like Sancho whom was very average at Dortmund and on his way to being a bench player at Chelsea's

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,380 ✭✭✭✭JRant

Sacho was anything but average at Dortmund. He was getting a goal/assist per game in his time there. Turns out that was the exception rather than the rule for him and he doesn't have the work ethic to match his talent.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,349 ✭✭✭Caustic

In the league,.in Germany his goal assist rate was .38 his best at united was .48 and he was never considered good at united, had like 2 good games on the champions league for them for sure.

Not sure where you are getting 1.00 g/a per game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,545 ✭✭✭kerplun k

id lump in Greenwood, Elanga, AWB to that list as well. Even sick note Martial has found some form since he left.

while I do think one of the main issues is recruitment, there’s no denying that we poorly manage relationships with the media, players and fans. It’s just an overall toxic environment. There’s no getting around it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,226 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

Greenwood was class for us and would still be here if not for......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,451 ✭✭✭Daroxtar

I don't agree with adding Greenwood to that list. His performances on the pitch weren't in question, it was what he was at off it

Nah, there is no reason to think, suggest or discuss that the poor performances of the players at united are in anyway, to any level, because of united.
