Perhaps, but I am not, nor was not in a discussion about Neville Chamberlain, there might be thread on that somewhere. It is a completely different discussion. I prefer to stick to the theme of the thread. Trump-The Positives. thanks.

People will stop dying. Maybe not a positive to you from behind your keyboard. But I’m sure the soldiers will be happy with it.

Even the soldiers whose families are in russian-occupied territory? Whose young children or siblings are being forcibly deported to russia and adopted?

The soldiers of Czechoslovakia in 1938 weren't happy one bit in similar circumstances.

The Russians could just go home, that would stop people dying too?

And I can't imagine the Ukrainian people, who have fought and died for their country will be too happy if they just have to give up chunks of territory and have Russia standing their at the border knowing it could happen again…

The soldiers, most of whom will know someone who died for their country, will be happy with it? I've seen MAGA types trot out some serious nonsense but that's definitely a highlight.

Why can't the orcs go home? What's the problem there? Why is it the country fighting for its life which has to surrender? Trump's already been clear that he'll capitulate to Putin.

Given that that is EXACTLY what they did in Israel with the nonsense "Abraham Accords" where they signed a peace deal without involving the Palestinians - What makes you think he'll do anything different here?

So far everything they have said and done indicates that their plan is to give Putin EVERYTHING that he wants.

Keep all the territory they've stolen , Deny Ukraine the ability the defend itself in future and give Russia access back to global markets so they can re-arm and re-stock to enable them to take the rest of Ukraine in a few years time.

It is telling that they haven't said a single thing about what Russia will have to concede in these "negotiations", not a word.

It's all "Ukraine will have to accept this" and "Ukraine will have to give up that".

It's not so much "the territory" as it is the millions of Ukrainians who are being exposed to torture, murder, conscription, having their kids taken away for indoctrination or simply stolen to be given to Russian families etc etc.

Russia wants to eliminate Ukraine as a nation and an identity and geniuses here and in Magaworld think everything would be better if they just stopped resisting.

Chump has begun his second term by claiming eventual ownership of Greenland and Canada, recouping

the Panama canal and rebranding the Gulf of Mexico. Whoever thinks that he is not aligned with Putin’s stance towards a lesser opponent is seriously misled.

Right now, the distrust and near hatred for the US in Canada is at a 200 year high. That may be a positive if you like spikes on graphs.

    Another positive:

Trump's nomination for VP, JD Vance has given a fine piece of feedback the EU about free speech. We know our ability to engage in open discourse online in the EU is always under threat. We do not have to agree with those we speak with, but unless we are inciting violence we should not have our views censored just because they do not suit a particular narrative.

Lord knows I disagree with plenty I see on here, but we cannot hide it, not should not.

It is right that this is called out.

Panama did not build tha Panama canal,. Trump has a point because tha Panamanians have consistently jacked up the fees for ships using it, as ships must do to go between west and east coasts USA. ( unless they go around Cape Horn, which is not realistic ).

One great thing about Trump, he is not afraid to stand up to vested groups for the overall good. Only very recently he recalled all Federal employees wfh back to the office, saying they only worked 10% at home.

When has he ever stood up against vested interests? I mean actual actions, not feelgood headlines for MAGA rubes.

The Panama Canal had its capacity enlarged recently by Panama, a big project that the USA did not attempt in all its years of control

By this logic Britain deserve to take back anything they built in Ireland pre 1920s? Or anything they built in other colonies? Do they get to take back stuff in the US from before 1776?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,701 ✭✭✭Kaybaykwah

    Lotsalaffs.

Chump was crouched on his desk while the world’s biggest vested interest held sway, standing up with his tiny vested interest on his shoulders lording over him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,544 ✭✭✭techdiver

Vested interests like ordinary people? He has stacked his entire government with nepo babies or far right celebrities. Me thinks that is a vested interest grouping if any?

The only reason he is enforcing a return to the office is his puppet master Elon thinks everyone lives should be a miserable and devoid of love as his.

What ever deal Trump does Ukraine will be able to accept it or reject it. Trump will do no more than give them a choice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,544 ✭✭✭techdiver

Do you actually believe that? They (the Americans) are already trying to extort Ukraine for natural resources in return for this mythical deal. Trump is a coward pretending to be a strong man. Putin will laugh all the way home with whatever "deal" is negotiated. If history was taught better in schools around the world you wouldn't have morons from American trying to appease a dictator. When have we seen that before I wonder?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,039 ✭✭✭jackboy

Ukraine are free to reject any deal. If Europe dont like the deal they are free to approach Ukraine and offer to fill any gaps if the US pulls back.

Enjoyed the comments from a former Canadian PM.

Basically telling Trump, if Canada joined US, they wouldn't be the 51st state. That there are basically 10 Canadian provinces, so it would bring the number of States to 60 as each province would demand to be a state.

That would mean 20 extra senate seats, all of whom that would vote for increased gun control, extra social welfare, universal health care, etc...

So be careful what you wish for President Trump

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 507 ✭✭✭itsacoolday

Trump has guts to tell the Federal workers in the States who wfh to get back to the office, as they were only working 10% of the time at home.

Imagine our Leader / Taoiseach here telling our civil service to get back to work, they were only working 10% of the time when "working from home". Trump has the guts to speak the truth, and most people in the States back him. He wants to stop the fighting in Ukraine and middle east too.

Putin would never have invaded Ukraine only for senile Biden more or less invited him to. Before Putin invaded, Biden was asked what he would do if Putin invaded. Weak dittery old Biden replied if it was only a small invasion, America would wait and see.

I only hope if Trump does get Martin in the white house on Paddies day, he tells him what he thinks of that awful insult Harris made about Trump when Harris was Taoiseach. Americans do not forget.

Point 1: how do you know that people working from home only do 10% of the work?

    Point 2: absolute rubbish.

    He's nearly 80. He'll be gone soon.

It was not me that said that. It was the U.S. President. I'd say he has a good idea how productivity in his employees has slipped so much since wfh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 507 ✭✭✭itsacoolday

Hope not. He seems full of energy since taking office and is a breath of fresh air. Maybe nearly getting shot dead a few months ago has him on a mission to make America great again, get productivity of his employees back up and to try to make peace in Ukraine and the middle East after all the sh* that happened on Biden's watch.

ASnother positive about Trump. He has invested in Ireland. Not many US Presidents have done that, brought money to the table. Mind you, it was before taoiseach Harris acted the rude ignorant gombeen by calling Trump an awful ghoul. Harris did not think Trump would be USA President again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,463 ✭✭✭✭astrofool

What did JDVance call trump previously?

Honestly, calling people names is one of his schticks, I doubt it even registered with him.
