What has a phone passing got to do with it? If it's not tracked, there is no barcode label on it. When I send out anything international, I get a message from An Post along the lines that they track it as far as possible, but you may need to track it with the receiving country. I find that works, as it takes a couple of days for An Post tracking to update.
Where did you get the tracking info for the registered post to Nepal?

I had a bluetooth tracker in them similar to Air Tag.

With Nepal they don't actually deliver, you have to collect it from the post office. Sometimes they ring you when it arrives but often they don't so the tracker is the only way to know it's ready for collection.

Plus it helps when you get to the correct room which is overflowing with parcels you can sound the noise to speed things up.

An Post how can you have lost a bloody great box ‎60.5 x 37 x 28 cm and yet manage to deliver the other 7 that were part of the order?

8 of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00DTVXGGW ordered at the same time before Christmas all got to the Dublin hub at the same time yet one of them disappeared before making it to the local postal distribution centre?

Its no big deal Amazon are saying I can get a refund but no more in stock. One box on its own I can understand but 8 all with the same details on them just seems strange.

It seems deliveries are still all over the place… I'm waiting for a parcel from France, normally should have arrived by now but I guess there are still delays. P.S. Just a tip: You can find the same box at Viking Direct, in case you still need them and no luck with Amazon. A word of warning though, I ordered boxes from them once and they shipped each of them separately… 😂

Mine arrived on Monday with no update to the Amazon tracking. Although I can see now that it went from Dublin to Bantry and then Portlaoise before it finally got to Waterford and my postman.

So thats down to someone not reading the label and throwing it in the wrong basket. Bantry is a total fail how it got there I've no idea but there is an address that the Portlaoise mail center delivers to that is similar to ours but if you read the address correctly there is no reason to get it wrong.

I have the prices from all the Irish resellers for The Really Useful Boxes including Viking Direct and find its well worth waiting for the ones I want to be on offer at Amazon.

I had a friend send me a letter from Dublin to Meath last Wednesday and have yet to receive it. It usually only takes a day.

I've heard it's because of the storm and bank holiday.

Received a letter today from Revenue, dated 4th Feb and arrived today 10th at lunchtime.

Post over the last 18months has been unbelievably unreliable; national letter post taking anything up to a week and registered letters up to 3/4 working days.

I suppose if you hire an ex Marketing Director from eircom/eir as your CEO what can you expect.

     dated 4th Feb

Just out of curiosity what date was on the "stamp"?

I have just received 2 letters from my electric supplier dated 2 days apart but have the same franking date.

I think there is a problem with some offices where they frank the mail but don't bother taking it to the postbox. There are at least a couple of insurance companies that will promise that documents will be posted out that day and the fanking date states that but their mail always takes at least 5 days.

I returned a parcel to Germany a week ago. The status never updated from the initial scan. Has anyone else had this before? I haven't sent anything with An Post in ages but normally it's scanned in the Dublin Parcel Hub within a day or two. There's no additional tracking on the DHL side either.

hi. Does anyone have experience of international tracked “an post” items. ?

    History ……….
    18 June 2025 20:18

Your item is being sorted for delivery

    18 June 2025 16:38

We have your item and will process it for delivery

    18 June 2025 16:36

    We have received your item.

    …….

Ultimate destination is northern Ireland (coming in from far east)

Last update on the tracker website was Wednesday 18th June.

Should I get a notification that the item is “out for delivery” or “with the delivery driver” etc ?

Kinda need to know exacts on the process as I need to inform the person at the receiving address to be at home

it’s my fault on this shipment as I left off two little letters “UK” on the the address label and just left “Northern Ireland” at the end of the address.
If I put “UK” the parcel would have come to N.i with Royal Mail. (Smooth sailing ALWAYS as they have a live minute to minute update on the whereabouts of my parcel in N.i system)

Is it normal for package to be stuck in "Your item is being sorted for delivery" for 5 working days? The status has been the same since Sunday.

The package was ordered from Amazon package. Normally Amazon delivers it, it's been awhile since I got an post for delivery.

No usually means that there is some issue with the address and they don't actually know where to send it

I've 2 An Post deliveries that they've had sorted for delivery since the weekend; one was 'sent to the wrong delivery office in error' yesterday and has since been sorted for delivery but still no sign of it, and the other was sorted for delivery yesterday evening and receieved a text message stating it'd be delivered on the next working day with no sign of it either. They're hardly still backed up from the whole Holyhead fiasco?

Also, their tracking shows less information now, it used to give the office it was sorted in (Portlaoise mail centre etc) but now it just gives the 'We have received your item' or 'Your item has been sorted' update

They seem to be lacking staff. Incoming parcels from the likes of Germany seem to be tracked as arriving in Ireland 4 days after leaving Germany, when most of the time before it was 2 days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,738 ✭✭✭bennyx_o

I got one of my packages from Germany delivered today, one is still outstanding after being routed incorrectly. Hopefully it arrives tomorrow or Friday. I've one last package from Iniu which was dispatched on Saturday but I doubt I'll see that before the weekend

Parcel stuck for 5 working days within Ireland with "Your item is being sorted for delivery". Packages being returned for no reason, no attempt even made to deliver. This service is a disgrace.

Any movement? Same happening with mine. Customer support useless and say to contact customs. However, if they are "sorting it" that means its already past customs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,738 ✭✭✭bennyx_o

So I've still 2 parcels outstanding; the one sent to the wrong dellivery office one that an post seem to have received today. I'm heading away on Monday morning and hoped to have both by then but it looks unlikely. Their webchat function isn't great and they just relay the information from the tracking. Incredibly frustrating that something sorted incorrectly (their mistake) takes so long to recitify. I've also been on to the retailer but their response was "Oh we'll investigate" and nothinbg since, although I dobut there's much they can do either. An post have generally been very reliable for me up until this week
