It was shocking, a complete waste of time and wasnt even worth having it discussed in the first place

Reflective of the response of the media, in general. Nothing to see here, let's move on. And make sure not to mention the sacred cow of immigration. There was more coverage given to the increase in the price of a stamp last week FFS

This was back in the mid 80s, and there were plenty of warnings on the container. Probably the exact same container as used by the air force. Fibreglass Resin is very messy stuff and you soon learn not to get it on your skin.

This was one of the bits that shocked me when I read that Examiner article last Saturday:-

"His exposure to chemicals, including a tubbing incident — during which he was forced by air corps personnel into a tub of toxic chemicals to mark his 21st birthday — led to his hair going white and tremors in his hands."

If his colleagues knew, or suspected, that the chemicals were toxic then why was this done?

Where was the senior NCO when this incident occurred?

Was it a ritual that was done to everyone in the unit?

Of course that doesn't let Air Corps management off the hook, but it suggests that either no-one was aware of the lethal make up of the chemicals, or knew but didn't really care too much.

On #RTÉUpFront, we assess what Trump in the White House could mean for Ireland, Ukraine and the EU.
Katie Hannon is joined by Clare Daly, Timmy Dooley, Republicans Overseas Chair Greg Swenson and Prof John O'Brennan. Watch at 10.35pm

If we like it or not, we will be hearing and seeing propaganda (for and against) about Trump for the foreseeable future.

Clare Daly no longer an MEP? Why the hell are RTE giving her airtime? Don't know much about the other guests.

Had to google to confirm that she wasn't and not confusing her with someone else.

After losing her European Parliament seat in 2024, Daly announced that she would run in the Dublin Central constituency in the 2024 general election. She placed tenth with 1,317 first preference votes, 20% of the quota, and was eliminated in the 4th round of counting.

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." ~ George Santayana
"But that's balanced out by the fact that it's a mandate not to do very much." ~ Prof. Eoin O'Malley

The military was traditionally an employer of last resort. They don't get the best and brightest, the entry requirements are low for a reason.

It was worse in the past though. When the army took them out to the shooting range without hearing protection they had to sue for deafness and the ordinary soldiers were lambasted in the media for essentially being wimps. The fact that no one in the media has ever fired a gun or stood anywhere near artillery when it goes off didn't matter.

How long has it taken for the air corpman to get justice on what is a very open and shut case of state negligence? As always too long and as it's the public sector, zero personal accountability

Timmy Dooley & Clare Daly? No thanks.

This John O'Brennan is a laughing stock figure.

He said there are no checks and balances now in America. What is he smoking?

Is that Swenson guy wearing a Union jack/USA pin?

She's a progressive voice and is calling out NATO for their behaviour and European leaders efforts to keep the war going are a disgrace.

Disputed regions? What's she on about, they were invaded regions.

Seems a bit unhinged. Blinded by his hatred of Trump.

Completely unhinged and very unlikely to be seen on a battlefield.

The American on the panel is polite and well spoken. Our panelist on the right is a loud mouth, rude and inflammatory.

    That John Brennan is ridiculous.

Let’s ask the audience if Ireland should give up our neutrality.
Oh yes, we need to spend more money to protect us from Russia. FFS hundreds of billions didn’t protect Ukraine and Europe now admits they can’t defend themselves.

    I couldnt watch it anymore.

Watching Claire Daly spewing poisonous lies, shame on RTE having giving this woman airtime.

    Still beating the same drum.

Absolutely, only people who will never have to fight and who support Irish teenagers dying for Ukraine should be allowed in the national broadcaster.
It’s a disgrace that any alternative view is allowed.

Why is it always unhealthy looking academics who support ending our neutrality?

The Russian HSE hack put her back in her box quickly enough.

Not surprised that Clare Daly is given such unwarranted prominence. This is the same RTE on which I hear Paul Murphy and Richard Boyd Barrett ad nauseam.

At least they have a mandate after successfully contesting elections. Hazel Chu is a constant panelist at Montrose despite losing every election except the presidential.

This chap has been showing up on my twitter feed consistently for the last year of so, no idea why, I don't follow him and he's clearly very left wing. Elon's right wing algorithms must be faulty! Amway he's a hysterical little toad, deeply unpleasant, and his contributions on the show have been nothing but 'low brow'. Hope I never set eyes on him again.
