brilliant! Congratulations, is it an in person interview? Or teams again?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48 Loco987

It's with teams again. Hopefully this time i won't have a power cut.🤣

Interestingly, during th HR interview I asked what would be the protocol if I denied her signing the form on my behalf and she said we'd have to conduct the interview in-person

Rescheduled 16pf tomorrow, 2nd time getting this far, hopefully can progress further this time....( nervously chews on finger nails and laughs anxiously) 😬

How did you get on today?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 72 ✭✭.300 WinMag

It seemed to go well, it does go into detail and explores a lot about you as a person and how you deal with stuff, which given the nature of the job, would be important for IR, but of course the question now is whether or not my personality is suited to their criteria,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48 Loco987

Yea it does go into a lot of detail about you as a person. It seems for the group on here at least we all heard back quick enough, so hopefully you won't have a long wait.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 72 ✭✭.300 WinMag

Yeah hopefully, the waiting can be torture, especially in the earlier phases, but that's how it is with large numbers of applicants, I'd actually love to know the pass and fail figures of each phase.

    @Midnight_EG thanks for the tips.

The assessment happened so fast, I was almost doubting myself.
I have been invited to the virtual interview next week. Please anyone with useful information & ideas on how to answer the “HR Candidate Interview Form” and also, guide to scaling through the interview will be very helpful.

Just got the invite for the Line Manager interview next week. Good luck to anybody who has their interview coming up.

    Fair play, well done!

I have a feeling I haven’t been successful on my interview. I did mine on the day before you and haven’t heard anything back, but I’m really rubbish at interviews so wouldn’t be massively surprised anyway! Always a win though because better prepared for next time 💪🏻

I felt uneasy after mine on Friday too, didn't feel great about it the second they hung up

I have my line manager interview on Wednesday. I'm not nervous about it but looking forward to getting it done.

Was it your line manager interview? Did they give class start dates or what it would be as in dart or diesel?

Did they say dart or diesel class?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16 Stiophan41

    @OkayWhatever

Try not to worry about it. You're probably better than you think at interviewing. I hate interviews but I give it a good shot and I say "if it's for me then it won't pass me by"

Hi guys, with regard to anybody who has done their line manager interview, do you remember any of the questions asked?

    Such as:

Role of train driver - what do you think is involved?

Why Irish Rail & becoming a train driver?

    Managing shift work

    Customer service tasks

    Working independently

mine is the 18th, and I’m nervous 😂 the 3 on 1 interview just seems intimidating, especially as a woman.

Also the interview dates are so strange. I heard back the quickest after the last interview from everyone here and my line manager interview is later.

I am curious how many classes are running this year as I can’t take anything for a couple months from now.

They were telling me they plan to start in March if successfull

Anyone still waiting to hear back about the line manager interview? In a positive or negative way, like I've had nothing either way

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44 nidhuinn

ah okay! Hopefully they run a few more classes if I’m successful because I’m indisposed for a week in April for Irish dancing worlds 🥲

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 471 ✭✭Rootsblower

don’t turn down the opportunity for anything if your selected. It’s a serious risk, HR operates on the premise that if you refuse it’s next person on the list. You might not get a second chance

I've just completed my line manager interview there. I thought i would put people who have yet to do it at ease. All of the information that your given in the email for it is more than enough to plan and study around. As for being intimidating I felt they were very nice and moved through the interview hitting all the points outlined. I felt mine went well. I answered all of their questions as best I could and now have the waiting game. If it's a no for me then it wasn't suited for me. Best of luck to everyone waiting 👍

If that's more important to you than a career in Irish Rail, then pick the dancing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44 nidhuinn

That’s a bit rude. There will be other classes that run through out the year, I’m sure. I have been training for this since qualifying at nationals and as I don’t just compete in solos, I compete in teams as well - as in there’s 7 other people relying on me too and everything is booked and paid for.
I’ve no problem going on the panel and waiting until the next class. I won’t pick between my career and my competitive sport if I don’t have to and so far there’s been zero indication that I’d have to. I’ll wait to speak to them directly if I’m successful about it, thanks.
