Did this man say 45% drop?

Yeah i suppose worst case scenario if you sat in heavy traffic for an hour with heater going the increase in consumption per km would be massive but while I'm moving freely, I think heating on is knocks about 30kms off my full range in around 10% maybe. 45% isn't a fair representation drop from summer to winter for example.

Thats based on temperature (and other factors), not from using the heating/AC.

Took the below photo yesterday. Over the last 2678kms, I've been averaging 19.8kWh/100kms, with the weather being pretty cold during that time and heater on pretty much all the time. That translates to 323km on a 64kw battery. WLTP is 435km, so I'm getting about a 25% drop in winter.

And as mentioned above, projected range isn't really that accurate. Actual consumption is what matters.

What are ye finding is the best site for buying electric cars/cars in general - donedeal seems to have the most cars for sale, then carsireland, then carzone, which of the below is best? or do ye just browse them all

If buying some may make a mistake and put it on adverts.ie only,or one of the smaller sites. As a result they will get far less phone calls. It's worth setting up alerts and checking them regularly. That said 99% of used cars are on done deal.

Set up alerts on done deal and save all interested ads. Then you can see if they are selling or not and get a better idea of bottom prices that they really sell for. Often it's the higher price cars that sit on done deal for months not selling, and inflate prices because people think that's a reasonable for sale price.

Obviously it would show a figure like that on a continuous long journey where everything is at its best efficiency. It's a completely different ball game driving around town, stopping in traffic, getting out of the car, back in after 20 minutes, setting off again, heater building up the heat again etc... In that type of driving heater consumption is a lot lot higher, all consumption is a lot higher.

If i do my work commute of about 10km and it takes me 30 mins and I have heating on, the effect on the kWh/100km figure is going to be higher than if I traveled 50kms in same 30 mins, even though it used the same energy to heat the cabin for 30 mins.

So it's a very hard figure to tell someone what the effect is. I know my guessometer drops about 10% when I turn blow heating on at all when it's at high SOC. So about 35kms reduced range on an average battery cycle, but it could be much higher in slow traffic, which doesn't matter anyway because I won't be far from my charger

I was in Mondello over the weekend at an event. Great fun, lots of entries and very open and welcoming to spectators.

But no chargers installed in the home of Irish Motorsport. Paying customers there for a few hours at a time. Seems like there should be multiple charging options.

Did anyone listen to the electric car guy on Newstalks tech talk recently. He explained why EV sales declined in Ireland the last year. Can't remember what it was. Was it post COVID related? Any remember?

Yeah I got a Seat Arona as a loaner from my dealer once when my car was in, it was up there as the worst I've ever driven. They don't give it out anymore the service guy was saying there were people giving out, they have been giving like for like since

Strange, we tried to get windscreen replaced on Mazda CX-5 in France once, couldn't be done as they were different for right and left hand drive models.. had to wait until we got back to Ireland to get it replaced.
