Maybe take it up with the guardian. The very least he could have done as a one term president was oppose military aide to Israel.

The second paragraph reminds me - people have been talking about Trump's EOs being subjected to legal challenges. Just to make sure - do we all realise that with Trump currently purging the US federal government, there soon won't be anyone to enforce any challenges which are successful? Seems to be an under-considered point.

Well, not on a countrywide level, anyway. Blue states could tell Trump to get stuffed and we'd see how 'small' the Trump government really is.

What cost democrats the election is they are seen as the party of elites they have lost touch with the working class voters white and latina I don't like trump but he uses simple plain language and appears like a patriot he also promised to clamp down on illegal migrants he went on podcasts to get the young male vote

Of course voters may regret it when musk takes the federal government apart and reduces Medicare the federal government is the biggest employer in America it's budget is over a trillion dollars they are closing down government websites and deleting databases

The federal government is vital interms of protection of the environment and helping people when floods and fires happen and rebuilding infrastructure in times of disaster

One example there's a tb outbreak In one state it will need federal aid and coordination of medical services to get it under control

The woke stuff is the reason Trump got over the line in the first place.

    "She's for 'they/them', he's for 'you'"

Anybody who voted for trump on the basis that he didn't like trans people is more concerned with culture war nonsense than the proper role of government, dealing with healthcare, infrastructure, education and so forth.

It's a pity they aren't sentient enough to realise that they are paying attention to a set of jangling car keys in one hand while they are getting fleeced by the other.

I heard that that one ad made a 3% difference in polling with test audiences. Astonishingly effective.

The DNC are still at it too. From the Daily Mail: Every candidate running for Democratic National Committee chair raised their hand Thursday night when asked if Vice President Kamala Harris lost the 2024 race at least partially due to 'racism' and 'misogyny.'

    Following by this excruciating spectacle:

    17388008573454046260207316141109.png

And every so often candidates would break into song. They do realise this is all being recorded right? They'll be massacred by attack ads at the next election.

This was the advert, and say what you like about about it, but it did a lot of damage to the democrats cause, and Trump won!

    Kamala is for they/them

    Trump is for 👉 You.

Trump has a habit of saying things for effect and to show he is active, on the ball, without knowing what the effect of his words will be. Marco Rubio has said there will be no US [sic] boots on the ground in Gaza. Until something shows he doesn't mean it, I think he's trying to keep the ship of state on an even keel. I think there may be a chance that if Trump tried to involve US troops in Gaza, he would face strong opposition from the GOP and the military as the effect would be bloody.

Ref others feathering their nests, that's possible. One way would be to drop suggestions around Trump which they think would "interest" him.

Trump is for himself. He uses populism and culture wars to win low information voters. It works. His supporters get fixated on non-issues and "sticking it to the other side", often at the expense of more serious issues.

He could be planning to invade allied countries, granting an unelected billionaire unrestricted access to the nation's treasury, putting an anti-vaxxer in charge of the nation's health, dismantling the department of education, you name it

And his supporters will be transfixed by some non-issue.

That used to work but seems not to now. Thanks.

I wrecken its a big spoof ,I.e throw it out there and wait for the comeback, then he and the people really in power knows how to proceed, except many more mad announcements, even Hamas have copped it and not made any threats against the 2nd leg of the ceasefire.

When’s the last time you saw Democrats try to raze the government to the ground? Never, I’d wager.

Guaranteed you've never met a trans person nor ever will, just like the rest of the people peddling this nonsense. They have zero impact on your life and nobody has "forced their delusions" on you. Quit the boring bullshït and just admit you hate them because they're different and you don't understand them.

This. I've worked with 3 and have a trans nephew. They just want to be left alone, funny how it's ultra-religious Evangeliban leading the assault against them in the US and their sheepish followers chiming in. Get your faces out of their genitals. Par for the course with the religious, though, persecution of the 'other' keeps the money rolling in.

You can crap out all the numbers you want but your point is clear. It's only bad when it's Biden. It's fine for Trump to sell weapons and call for the eradication of Palestinians on top. Fake concern as I said.

Last word's yours if you want it. I'm not wasting any more time on this drivel.

MAGA uses the terms to describe anyone who dares criticise Trump. That's what they mean when they use it.

Yeah Trump voters are really easily manipulated. What can the democrats do when their opponents control the media and just lie and stoke up populist bullshit?

The woke 'culture wars' stuff is only possible because the corporate takeover of the media and politics has been allowed. The Democrats should have pushed fir press standards and anti trust regulations. That is where they failed

    Chomsky(2017) on the Republican party

"Has there ever been an organisation in human history that is dedicated, with such commitment, to the destruction of organised human life on Earth?"

I honestly can't believe this naivety. Trump isn't better than Biden, Trump is doing this because it's the next phase in Nethanyahu's plan and Trump winning was all his Christmas and Birthdays rolled in to one. A self-obsessed former casino and hotel developer in the White House with zero compassion to the cause of the Palestinian people and who is already in cahoots with Saudi Arabia is more than they could have ever hoped for.

Biden was played by Nethanyahu to be allowed to destroy Gaza and to have America pay for that destruction. And this is the next phase. Not necessarily the talk of resorts and nonsense like that, but the removal of the Palestinian people. That was always the plan in making it so inhabitable. Some of the earlier phases were Israel ignoring the preparation for the Oct 7th attack and before that the enabling of Hamas by Nethanyahu who said at the time that a strong and active Hamas would help Israel achieve it's goals. Later phases include the Israel having security oversight over Gaza before finally Gaza becoming part of Israel.

Watching videos appear on social media of Palestinians clean the rubble from their homes and start to try to create a semblance of life in the face of such persecution is incredibly uplifting for me. I am baffled how any Irish person with knowledge of our history and with a sense of pride of how we persevered in the face of the attempts the British to have us become entirely subservient could in any way shape or form condone what Trump is proposing for Israel.

I've spoken here of my hatred of Biden for his role in Palestines suffering, only an idiot would think it would have been any different if Trump had been the one in office for the last 12 months. All that would have happened is this conversation would have happened sooner.

The men and it is mainly men who demand the rights of full womanhood allowing them access to changing rooms, locker rooms, women’s sports and women’s refuges because they themselves decided they feel female. A trans woman is just that - No MORE and NO LESS - a transwoman.

Men and it is mainly men - who decide to mangle the English language with their name calling - use the cis and the pronouns or be cancelled or even fired! Tolerance?

Men and it is mainly men, who advocate life changing drugs and surgery for under age children-permanent damage being done to their bodies and minds before they have reached the age of consent.

The Ts have set the LGBs back - increasing homophobia and destroying the progress made in tolerance and empathy by their own lack of tolerance or empathy for women and girls.

If folks wish to be trans they are free to do so but not at the expense of half the worlds population- a woman is a woman and a trans woman is a trans woman - keeping those boundaries is how societies can live together in harmony.

Let’s face the facts - The over the top backlash against gender campaigning currently happening in the US under Trump is a direct result of Trans inTRANSigence.

And my point stands, we've got plenty of posters celebrating that Trump is going after minority groups who have no impact on their day to day lives. Meanwhile genocide seems to be a shoulder shrug....

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

I think he’s playing to the home crowd a bit - his proposal on Gaza was laughable but it got some people very worked up- he’s ticked the box in his mind of “I tried” - that’s all that matters to him. He’ll just blame the Palestinian people for the next 4 years for not taking up his “offer”. It was also had to be a bombshell story to distract from any goings on at home in terms of disrupting whole departments etc
In terms of his many other exec orders, already birthright citizenship order blocked - he’ll likely keep the courts busy anyway - what he actually achieves though we’ll have to wait and see.

If immigration doesn’t fall under Trump then it never will - I think he’ll have some success there - now whether America will have less illegal criminals or just less illegal but law abiding fruit pickers remains to be seen.

Its smoke and mirrors right now - but I think within 6 months we should see some clear indicators coming through on whether any of these initiatives have beared fruit
