I'm looking at a second hand tesla 201 reg import.

50k miles

Awd/long range anyone with any experience and any reason why I shouldn't go for it ?

Or should I look at rwd instead

I'll be travelling with work , but only in kildare are 5 days a week site to site

Oh and I know there's no vrt on something older than 6 months and more than 6000 km

But so I pay vat or something else?

Yes but you can charge it to 100% as often as you like when you need it, just dont let it sit at 100% soc for extemded periods. So LR cars do offer you max range whenever you need it. Otherwise just keep it at max 80% which will give you comparable range to LFP batteries sitting at 100% soc.

I watched a video recently from that 'Engineering Explained' chap which suggested that LFP batteries suffer greater degradation when left sitting at high soc so it also possible that although you can and should charge them to 100% regularly you shouldnt let them sit at 100% for an extended period and therefore wont have access to max range with LFP batteries either.

That view may not materialise in reality of course. LFP batteries are new so time will tell I suppose

That was a quick change of heart from yesterday when you were looking at a Tesla and debating the merits of difference between a AWD and LR . Best of luck. Be careful that whatever you buy is not a car imported to N Ire from UK and sold on as Revenue are very specific to prevent this scenario from being exploited to avoid VAT at point of registration in Ireland.

I just put a question on the app and it seems Tesla assumes it's an external charger issue rather than anything to do with the car.

In any case it also suggests that if this problem exists for ac charging the car won't DC charge at all. Anyone with this issue have a problem with DC charging? I can get away with 3kwh ac charging in the short term but it would be disastrous to head on a long journey only to get stranded because the car couldn't DC charge. A bit of a confidence sapper!

anyone how long it takes for insurance companies to update the reg to be recognized on their website afte reg no issued by tesla team?

can anyone please comment on how to tax after taking the delivery. I don't have the pin or any document related to registration or tax when collecting the car.

I finally installed the S4XY commander today. Have to say it was awkward enough to get the long panel back far enough for the install.

Other than enabling autopilot after lane change what are people using theirs for?

I'm half tempted to mount an old phone behind the wheel to use the Speedo and lane warnings etc for a while.
