12: Declassifying of Records Concerning the Assassinations of President John. F Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Odd how many think Trump declassifying & releasing this info is important.

Would it not be more of a win against the deep state and malign influence for him to release the Epstein files? Wonder why he hasn't seen fit to do that 🤔

I think accountability and knowing the facts is important. Three very high profile assassinations in the space of a few years in the 60s still has repercussions to this day. Would be good to have clarity for people and move on. I'm sure the Epstein files will be open in due course, although I suspect there's far too many powerful people alive that will do everything they can to block it.

1, 3, 4 and 8 are genuinely laughable in an American context especially with a Trump administration. If most of the people in his cabinet weren't born rich they would be dead or destitute. There is no merit based system in America. Even uttering the word accountability in relation to anything to do with Trump is so tone deaf it hardly bares thinking about.

All your list above proves is it's easy to dupe people using social media echo chambers.

Most of it is laughable tbh. It's MAGA word salad concocted to make deconstruction of protections, both personal & environmental appear fair to a quick glance.

Similarly with the BS reply above as to why the release of the Kennedy & King files is important but Epstein can wait. The hypocrisy of claiming "important people" are repressing that? Without acknowledging that their exalted leader was not only buddies with Epstein, but is listed on multiple flights logs. Wonder who the "important people" blocking it are then 🤔

2: Defending women from gender ideology extremism and restoring biological truth to the federal government

Lol they don't even know basic biology. Donnie is a woman now according to his gender EO. As for defending women, you're having a laugh 😂

No, Ireland is already great and nearly all of it is because of the US. What we need to do is start importing more from the US and keep Trump on side.

accountability. From a man spending his whole life avoiding it.

On I agree. Was just focusing on the ones that jumped out.

The other thing about DEI is the thinking from many that it's just about giving minorities a leg up over their white counterpart. Whilst that is true in some cases (and I'm on record as saying I don't agree with quotas), DEI covers way more than that. Disability awareness, etc all falls under DEI, but of course the nuance of a situation is far to complex for the MAGA brain.

My point is whether you agree with DEI or not, stating that America is returning to a merit based system, whilst supporting the single biggest shower of chancers as lawmakers (who would be nowhere near those positions in a merit based systems) is so funny to me.

don’t know how true it is but in a bizarre twist. I’m hearing that the citizens of Springfield Ohio are now eating the dogs and cats of the migrants that live there. Such is the price of eggs.

He really hasn't a clue about anything.

    Open the valves eh?

I know for a fact there’s no such thing as an X gender. A child could tell you that.

Seems there’s only one angry, bigoted person here..

Trump has really hit the ground running be it mostly aberrant behaviour/policies (excluding immigration) but if your part of his base you'll be absolute delighted that it looks like he's doing so much work where as your Irish and you look at our lot and they're barely back 5 mins and have a lovely 2 weeks off for them again, it's pretty sickening tbh

On points 3 & 4, Trump is someone who referred to the Georgia Secretary of State as an 'enemy of the people' simply for doing his job with respect to the 2020 election. Because of this, I have absolutely no confidence that Trump will not use Schedule F to purge the US federal government of all those 'disloyal' to Trump, even if this 'disloyalty' stems from doing their job to the best of their expertise and their conscience, should that diverge with the wishes of president Trump.

And it looks like these purges are already beginning.

In addition to ending DEI hiring practices, Trump has also gotten rid of an equal opportunities, civil-rights era, hiring rule implemented in 1965 by Lyndon Johnson.

    https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/ending-illegal-discrimination-and-restoring-merit-based-opportunity/

Trump has effectively ended affirmative action within the US Federal Government. Affirmative action being,

a set of policies and practices within a government or organization seeking to address systemic discrimination

And I assume we would all agree that systemic discrimination is bad.

With regard to energy, why is Trump so gung-ho on drilling? Oil is a finite resource. Do we all agree on this? The cost of extracting it is only going to increase as its amount dwindles. If you want to declare a national energy emergency, don't in the same breath go, 'but these turbines are nonsense'. Even if you leave aside the potential environmental impact of using fossil fuels, their use obviously cannot go on indefinitely. There's going to come a point where there isn't enough to power the world's economy.

Regarding men in women's spaces and all that - whatever - it's practically a non issue, but red meat for the culture warriors. However, someone please Lauren Boebert that it doesn't give her the power to call security on every woman who she thinks looks like a transgender person using the women's toilets.

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/lauren-boebert-trump-transgender-policy-b2685813.html

This is the other side of the hysterical coin.

And if any judges demurr at these extreme penalties we'll have the MAGA howling that it's time to get rid of this radical leftist judiciary.

    Defending women???

Have you read project 2025? Or do you consider stripping away reproductive rights from women, and removing protections against discrimination to be protecting women?

And Trump's hiring reforms are obviously intended to allow him to corrupt the appointments of the civil service so that he can make load the civil service with lackeys. Restoring Schedule F allows him to put loyalists into the civil service. Its the exact opposite of merit based hiring. You'll be hired or fired based on loyalty to MAGA, not based on your ability to do the job

"Has there ever been an organisation in human history that is dedicated, with such commitment, to the destruction of organised human life on Earth?"

Laughable is right. There goes Hegseth, so. As for defending women, how about starting this work at home by defending women against predators like Gaetz, Hegseth, Robert .F.Kennedy Jnr, Musk….and Trump.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,143 ✭✭✭ilkhanid

I thought one of the major parts of his schtik was about 'draining the swamp', getting rid of these important people, this 'deep state' who are blocking MAGA progress. But,suddenly, they are presenting an obstacle. How can this be? 🤔

So you know sweet FA about Ireland, should we just join America and leave the EU as well?

What is it with people being so servile towards Trump? It is genuinely unsettling. And as a soon to be Canadian myself, Trump hasn’t a dogs chance of getting anything from Canada either, he is equally detested here.

Irelands economic prosperity depends on the US, that's a fact, it's in our own interest to increase trade with the US now. We should move from position of strength now to lessen the impact but I suspect our politicians are too stupid to realise this, instead we will wait to get wrecked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,921 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

Complete child because he isn’t getting his way, his supporters will go along with this of course…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,921 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

It’s not a fact, our economy depends on various forms of trade, some of it comes from the US, some from the EU. It’s diverse. Ireland going along with the clown would alienate us from the rest of the EU, which we are a member of and have benefited more from that than anything from the US.

You haven’t a clue what you’re even trying to say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,109 ✭✭✭✭Kermit.de.frog

US companies have invested hundreds of billions of dollars in Ireland. By far Ireland's most important partner and without that we'd have nothing.

You want to go back to the 70's and 80's?
