Its like standing on the top of a bungee jump, waiting for your turn.

Or worse, waiting for the NCT centre for them to tell you how many thousands of euros your car will cost to repair

very mild now was 2c at midnight now it’s 9c but tomorrow is to be cooler as that storm will bring in colder upper air temperatures

Gusts really picking up in Galway City now, trees look to be struggling. This is standard storm fare now. If it gets much worse it will be quite scary.

Also as I'm typing the fecking fuse board door has flown open again.

Wow, getting really bad in Galway city. Off to bed for me, hopefully the couple of whiskeys and beers will help me sleep through it.

I experienced a strange phenomenon. I had been sitting down for an hour and a half or so. When I got up I nearly fell over, really dizzy.

I haven't been drinking or anything else. I'm solid on my feet.

The big drop in air pressure?

Stick a bit of cardboard in it to keep it tight.

Crazy gusts in Galway city tiles rattling, won't sleep tonight.

Wind gusts here in Tralee are expected to get to 140km in the next hour and it's certainly heading that way as it's raging on relentlessly.Rain has eased, comes in fits and starts but torrential when it does. This is biblical stuff. Power is holding at least 🙏 Going to try to blot it out some bit with earplugs.

Given up trying to sleep. My head is banging and dunno if it's the air pressure.

    Donegal .

Very strange almost like you can hear it moving away like a jet engine as it thankfully eases off here. Must have been a good twenty to thirty minutes of severe sustained wind.

    🙈🙉🙊

seems to have levelled off here in Glencar co Kerry, definitely some damage outside, no power, nothing unusual here , hopefully it won’t get much worse

Half of the country will be without power at this rate. We are 20mins into the red warning and the esb powercheck is lit up like a christmas tree

The intensity has really risen now in North Kerry!! House is making noises I've never heard before!

Good advice, happened a third time! No cardboard but brown paper may do the job...... we'll see.

Given the peak here (Galway City) is expected to be 4-6am, I'd be very concerned given how strong the gusts are currently.

Power gone in Galway. Red warning hasn't even started yet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 875 ✭✭✭Duvet Day

Exact same here, felt a bit embarrassed mentioning it earlier here but others are saying the same thing. Ears popping and painful, banging headache and dizzy. Now I have had some wine alright ☺️ but I know it's due to the pressure.

Gone mad here again in Cork city, can't sleep, think I'll head downstairs anyway and try the couch...I'm actually nervous now. Hate that constant jet sound and the gusts are crazy.

Not long home from work and the power and phone signal has gone for 10minutes. Not even in the worst of it yet. It's crazy out there.

    Mayo

Edit: had to double down on everything outside. Just brought it all in that I could.

Neighbours better thank me for bringing in their ornaments from out the front.

On a positive note windy.com is giving a slight easing from 4am for West Limerick. So if we can survive the next 90 minutes.

Wow every time I check the power check there's more and more. I notice Kilrush in West Clare is gone too.

Debris starting to fly in Galway, gusts ever increasing.

Getting going now in Headford, North Galway.

First power glitch and we rarely lose power during a wind storm.

3 days ago, ME forecasted gusts of 131km/h for us. The forecasted gusts for 6am are now 166km/h and we're nearly 20miles inland. Unprecedented stuff that I never thought I'd see.

Savage gusts now and between the gusts you can hear that high up roar. Gonna try and stick it out as long as I can with a bottle of wine beside me😉. Stay safe everyone
