The positioning and wind direction of the storm is eerily similar to Darwin. Those strong winds are going right up the Shannon Estuary. Limerick City to get an absolute battering of those models verify.

Its really not hard to skip past the comments and read the posts that have the big bright colourful charts in them

The ICON 6z is a bit of a downgrade I reckon? Still highly impactful for many areas I don't want to downplay it, but looks to be a 20kmh drop in most of the predicted wind speeds. Hopefully not an outlier. HARMONIE not in agreement, but a northwards nudge pulling the strongest winds back up towards Clare and Galway and keeping the South and East out of the main firing line.

Playbtge ball, not the man. FWIW minutes adds up over a day. Also for those suggesting I should just look at Met.ie fine but you’ve just justified also closing this forum.

The UKV is taking the piss- they all are with the projected gusts overland. Hopefully we see even a small downgrade in the intensify of this thing during the day, if not i think the Orange warning will be upgraded to nationwide red by late this evening . It's awkward for Met Eireann they will not want to commit to a nationwide wide red till they have to- but at the same time they can't leave it too late either.

You do know you are contributing to what you are complaining about? You with a busy day and all.

Also you do know all moderation complaints are to be taken up elsewhere?

Im glad I removed the front wall of my garage leaving a very large 4m opening onto a 3 sided closed building with a wooden roof. Hopefully I don't end up with a convertible roof garage!

Also just replaced many glass panels in my glasshouse!

Anyway, reading all those charts it suggests here in Dublin at least, they can close the county for a few hours and all will be "ok" second half of the day

Even just to get the bin collections cancelled before people put them out on thursday evening for Friday will be a big help

Missiles flying around the place are what do a lot of the damage during storms. I don't want my house or car to be pelted with the neighbours recycling flying around at 130kph

Mod Note: squonk, you need to drop it, you are bringing the thread off topic you got your answer way back and the title refers people to read mod instructions in OP. No more discussion in this thread about seperate threads.

Still hoping for some downgrade at this stage, midlands looks like getting an hour or two of anywhere between 70-90mph gusts early Friday morning. Very similar to Dec. 97, that's all it took to do the damage. 60-70 mph wouldn't be too bad, and we might escape the worst. Any shift north welcomed.

Of course, Newstalk had a segment this morning on it, and insisted on calling it Storm 'Owen'... 😬

the easiest way to answer you is to say that all model model output is remarkably similar right now. They are either all right or wrong.

GFS still going with a core of very strong winds across the middle of the country. Possibility of there not being a nationwide red exists IMO.

Is there any update on the rain event or snow even with this storm?

Sorry I didn't see the mod instruction above my post. So I will delete this post.

    100Mph gusts for North Clare.
Was thinking of bidding on a house for sale on the edge of the burren but am reluctant to put in an offer because not sure about how good the roof on it is.. be very interested to see how it fares following this event.

Met éireann use the Harmonie so a nation wide Red is highly likely. Sting jet could occur around Kilkee - Limerick area.

ah I know, Nacho. A thankless job it is too. Thank you Meteorite 🙏. I'm just more frustrated by my screen dancing and typeface repeating words. First world problems 🙃

Hard to see them risking slight shifts north and south though.

apologies if said already, what is the peak day and rough times for this storm?

Not something you see very often with the Ensembles. Red warnings will follow soon. Could be after Midday after the briefing takes place when warnings are escalated.

Yes there was an update around this earlier. It won't be only just a wind event. Rain and the possibility of snow as well.

you’d imagine once the new Taoiseach is elected he’ll need to be briefed? Your right then with an afternoon Nationwide Red I think….
