An RTE podcast earlier in the thread mentioned it is to be called Dept of Internal Affairs.

This woman is referred to as an illegal so it appears they can take a claim to the WRC for unfair dismissal. Notable she said it was easy to get a PPS . What will be her status after the case is heard , remain as she was seeking a better life .

Bit of a wishy-washy name, to me, internal affairs could encompass anything that happens within the state. Seems to be invented by a strategist or marketing guru to distance the department from the reality of what it does, integrating tens of thousands of ecominic migrants into the country.

What exactly is progressive about adding people to the population who are far worse with their beliefs than what we had in the eighties with the Catholic church.

Yes I am sure it was very difficult for women and homosexuals.

Did we stone women to death for being unfaithful.

Did we force women into arranged marriages and treat them like dirt to be covered up and raped as a pasttime.

Did we throw homosexuals off buildings or cut their heads off like the poor men in sligo came to realize from the new Irish.

Somehow importing people with cultures far more barbaric than anything we seen in the eighties is progressive.

I would certainly be more worried as a homosexual in progressive Ireland than in the eighties.

We matured as a country where women and homosexuals have far better life than they did in the eighties.

Let's role back on that and increase the population with people who have worse attitudes towards than the eighties.

What exactly is progressive about going backwards is a mystery to me.

Simple. Trump could start a trade war with Denmark who have long since started the economic unburdening in relation to refugees. Imagine they ignore the will of the people like the Irish government does and doubled down on it. Trump could have easily taken advantage of that economic vulnerability.

Yeah but what about white middle aged Irish men who are far scarier. I've seen this line trotted out more then once. Imagine generalising Irish men and saying we're worse then some of the biggest hell holes for women on this planet. Talk about scoring an OG.

I’m summary: as long as it didn’t directly effect you you don’t care.

Your comment on divorce is seriously weird. Forcing people to stay married didn’t mean they stayed together.

FYI smog was a problem in every city on the island and some larger midland towns. The whole country burning solid fuels was a horrendous. Unless you ever tried to play football in it, you’ll never really understand just how bad it was.

Don’t ever dismiss yoke quality as a happiness metric.

The more you can increase fear of drugs and crime, welfare mothers, immigrants and aliens, the more you control all of the people.

    Quite the anti immigrant tirade.

why do you assume all refugees are Muslim.

Mod: This thread has gone so far off track recently in terms of the actual thread topic that the mods have decided it will be closed, and a new thread opened to discuss immigration in a broader sense:

Please direct all discussion to the new thread going forward, and ensure you read the mod warnings in the OP prior to doing so. Thanks.
