If Met Eireann's automated reports are to be believed it could snow here until about 8 or 9pm. Hopefully that is the case and the intensity stays good.

Over 25cm of snow here in the hills of North Kilkenny. Still heavy downpours as well. We don't have the drifts on the road like 2018 (yet) but the snow is just as deep and heavy.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Just back from being up in the Dublin mountains since this morning with the kids and we had a brilliant day, bucketing snow non stop, mad that it only 5 mins drive from Firhouse at 3c and lashing rain to 1c and bucket snow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,348 ✭✭✭Rebelbrowser

not that unusual in Cork anyway. Get some snowfall most years, already had some 2 months ago. FYI, we had 40cm from streamers in my suburban estate ever before storm Emma too.

Dublin mountains a great resource for Dublin though, I’ll grant you. I’d have to drive 40 mins to mountains here.

Anyway, hope ye Dubs get some snow.

Im off sledding with the kids now.

Carlow Town, from outside the Dinn Ri. May brave it out with a pint.

Has basically lashed rain since 5pm yesterday in Swords, not a fleck of snow. So much rain that my lawn has puddles on it, if it had of been snow it would have been of epic proportions. Actually, There has hardly been a flake of snow worth talking about since 2018, had a little bit in 2020 on New Year’s Eve morning but genuinely depressing lack of snow. Today is just a horrible wet cold grey day, total shite!!!

we had a brief flirtation with sleet here about an hour ago in D15. Back to lashing rain. Hopefully it snows here at some point today. I’m dying to see what my puppy makes of it!

Snow has finally started in North Kildare in the last 15 mins . Very very wet so unlikely to stick unless we get a lot of it.

Had to go from Clare to Limerick City today. Should have gone yesterday but was sick. Some very hard snow along the way. 2 things got me seeing people pull in to sides where a build up of snow was so hope they get out.

Also on the dual carriage just before limerick and behind 3 cars and there was a car been loaded up and the front car decides to brake hard to have a look like an idiot.

Also use your indicators in time if you are turning or or a roundabout so people have enough time to know where you are going

Has dried up here in East Cork the last 45 mins annoyingly

Nearly a foot of snow on the road here in Tipperary and two foot behind the house and in the fields, it’s like a bilizard here since this morning and no sign of stopping

Despite our complete lack of snow, I am (enviously) enjoying all the photos that are being posted, some cracking snaps in there.

I know looks beautiful unless you have to drive or in a wheelchair and have to move about. Have a few inches both here in Limerick and Clare

15:30. West Limerick, 200 M ASL, 0.9 C, 50 CM snow, Northerly breeze. Heavy all afternoon, beginning to lighten off now.

Currently on generator power. Lot's of snow shoveling today, clearing doorways. Distributed water to neighbours, ESB powercheck ETA 6PM, however given operating conditions, it will more likely be tomorrow.
Road plowed this morning, single lane passable by tractor or 4 WD, don't expect to get out of the house until at least Thursday.
Several people have gutters taken out by melting snow sliding from the roof. Old garage at neighbours collapsed under weight of snow.

BTW. If you have plastic greenhouse tunnels, clear off the snow, otherwise the plastic will tear under the weight as it melts. Learned that from experience back in 2010.

Net Zero means we are paying for the destruction of our economy and society in pursuit of an unachievable and pointless policy.

Looking ahead Tomorrow morning Monday into Tuesday some very heavy showers are forecast to move down across the country with the North & northwestern areas at a good risk of some hail & snow showers with the potential for thunder snow. Some accumulations also likely.

Some of the showers look like they will work there way well down the country with some troughs lines possible.

Absolutely not. This precip will increasingly fall as snow all over Dublin, and regardless, these sopping wet roads and paths will freeze hard and early.

Nobody really should venture out after 7pm unless they properly have to.
