Not really, it's not just about cost to buy, it's cost to change. I bought a 221 and there were big price drops afterwards but I bought it at a buoyant used market time so sold my S at quite a profit. So…my cost to change was low. Had I bought a 3 when the price dropped then my S would have dropped by more in value and my cost to change would be higher

Yes, I forgot the boatload of grants those pesky PSV drivers get (i jest, getting taxis to be EVs is a great way to reduce emissions especially in towns). Diesel taxis get horrendous mpg around towns, it doesnt really make sense.

Yes, all true points. However Tesla price cuts were more than the markets, and especially on the Y

EV windows can be 9 hours if you are on a 9 hour night rate plan. It's not called an EV plan and you don't need an EV to be on an EV plan. It's just marketing. However if he say used 60kWh of energy pet day it may take him 8/9 hours to refill. Sure those 9 hour plans are not the lowest unit of energy but far cheaper than public charging. Again the maths may be optimistic but I definitely saved 4,000+ per year over 4+ years with my commute and in my case depreciation was about 3k per year. Massive savings to be had.

Do the bushes on the Y need to be replaced as well ? Mine has close just over 50k on it and I'm wondering if it's something I need to be considering or just wait until closer to 80k ?

Bushes are a consumable. There’s no strict timeframe but of course check them and look for signs of fatigue or wear. Listen for noises and clunking.

Same as bushes on any other car really. But probably wear out faster due to weight?

Have been out of the country for last 5 weeks or so, ignored any updates etc.

Updated to 2024.44.25.2 this am, a few nice new features such as adjusting passenger seat, live rain and thunderstorms overlayed on maps, cross traffic alert etc.

Also new app for iWatch, haven't had a chance yet to setup.

    All good so far..👍️

Does anyone know how to contact Tesla customer service for a problem with an order from their shop. I ordered a power bank and it hasn’t been delivered. I’ve looked but I can’t find a specific one for the shop TIA.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 699 ✭✭✭Kagawa

I think I found out how to contact them, I used the chat option in the app but I’ll report back if it doesn’t work.

Missed 2 tricks by not separating out the seat forward/backward & raise/lower back rest and ability to adjust while the car is in motion (it is hardly a distracting thing to do while in motion).. Maybe in the next round of incremental updates.

Also, surely they can input a seat memory function now for the passenger seat.

I mean, my 2017 BMW has it!

Yes, agree. Only forward and backwards atm, and seat back alters as you adjust. Far from ideal, but at least a start..

Agreed, it's extremely limited. You can't adjust it if the seat is occupied either.

noone has yet sat in the back of mine yet but in the HLand model I'm pretty sure the passenger seat has this functionality from the rear screen already

Banged off an email there with all the above missed implementation to get the most out of the feature.. hopefully they are reading it and taking it on board.

Seat adjustment seems to be a copy paste from the highland rear screen. Got the enhance auto knob recently and have much better passenger seat adjustment from that - forward/backward and tilt rear of seat.

What kind of time would you be waiting for a new date if you cancel a delivery?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,649 ✭✭✭Conar

Ordered the commander. Did you install in the front or the rear?
I've the front cabling. Wondering if its as easy an install as it looks. Would hate to introduce a rattle or break clips.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,352 ✭✭✭zg3409

For seat memory the seat would need absolute encoders as in to know exactly where the seat is, and for auto it may also need load sensing in case the seat is say pushing against you squashing you or a hand. If the hardware for those features was never installed it's unlikely seat memory as in auto seat movement without holding a button down while the seat moves would be safe. It's likely the older BMW has extra hardware and safety systems which these cars may not.

Drivers side has it alright. Doesn’t have to be memory as such. Maybe return to preset position.

He did pour cold water on it recently. But he can change his mind more often than underwear. And the thing people have always said is that it would sell well in Europe because Europe likes small cars. But, is that still the case? Small cars are disappearing in Europe too.

If it was Golf/ID3 sized and priced a lower than a Model 3 I would buy one. Any smaller and I would give it a miss

Name Model Q doesn't sound like something Tesla will go for if they were to bring out something new.

With their track record (S3XY), I would guess they will probably do a Model 6 next and then a Model 9 may be.

The automotive firm Tesla has worried about going bust and the supermini segment is hard to make a profit with many strong rivals such as VW, Hyundai, Chinese brands etc. It would require a large investment in tooling for chassis and may actually harm sales of model 3. While Tesla could indeed do this, I am not sure it makes long term financial sense now the competition has hotted up. Normal car manufacturers have said they need to sell 100,000 units of each model per year to break even and justify the tooling R&D ramp etc. VW group have shared their small EV across multiple brands but they also have a dealer network and returning customers. Profits on these smaller cars may be very little, particularly if the market becomes flooded in the next few years with buyers going cheap and not paying a premium for the Tesla brand. EV technology is mostly straight forward now and Tesla cannot really offer anything new in that segment.

I don’t think it makes financial sense for tesla to produce a smaller car than the M3 at €36k. It would want to be a small hatchback, ID3 sized but they are the same price as an M3. So where’s the financial motivation?

It would need to be a 25k car IMO.

…analysts have said Tesla would have to rely on its promised cheaper versions of current cars and the success of Cybertruck to achieve Musk's target of 20% to 30% sales growth in 2025.

The truck, known for its futuristic design, has been showing signs of weakness in demand.

Looks like demand for the CT has bombed..

Are there expectations of cheaper prices of the current models? I am guessing they will have to move the dial substantially in order to get a reasonable level of volume growth. IMO, at the current prices sales are unlikely to grow at all, probably even continue the downward trend.
