Rolex Price Increase 2025

Price increases have already been implemented by Rolex AD's from 1st January. Aside from the fact that almost all models are still 'exhibition pieces', any watch containing gold (Datejusts, Day-Dates, Daytonas, GMT's etc.) have been subjected to increases of up to 14%. Increases in gold prices being the reason given. Steel variants have had a lesser price increase of roughly 3% depending on model. What is the feeling now regarding demand, waitlists, grey pricing for 2025? Personally, I feel that Rolex demand will continue to outweigh availability and grey prices will continue to remain well above RRP for most models. Amazing that it is virtually impossible to lose money on a Rolex (assuming you purchase well!) which obviously adds to the demand

There’s a new date sub I was watching on chrono, it was €12k before Christmas and has jumped to €12,500 this week.

Tudor are going up too I hear.

I am in the unfortunate position of waiting for an OF RG Daytona, which has gone from around €35k to just over €40k. However, like most on waiting lists, I’ll have to bite my tongue and accept it.

You don't have to accept anything!

The vast majority of Rolex steel sport grey prices have been below RRP for quite some time. Only a few highly desirable models are considerably above. Like Batman, Daytona, etc. Even a sub no date is not much more than a grand over retail. Not worth the hassle of waiting forever on a dodgy "waiting list"

14% seems like a cash grab. Gold is probably 1/4 to 1/3 the total price. Gold would need to be massively up to justify $14 increase overall

There's about 6 grand of gold in a DD40. That's on a 45k watch. I'm not sure what Rolex's thinking is here. We've been back to most PM models trading under retail for some time. 50k for a white gold Sub, just over 30k grey!

I haven't checked, but I would imagine most DJ / OP / Deepsea / Seedweller / Airking / Explorer, Explorer II, Skydweller, Yachtmaster, anything PM, anything TT. The ones above RRP would be steel subs, steel Daytonas and steel GMT-Master II mostly

You can check for yourself by comparing RRP on Rolex.com with new condition in EU from dealer on Chrono24

Jesus I feel for you. But look try and soldier on and put the best side out and hide the hurt as best you can u suppose.

    Alternatively….

Have a look at what high horology you could actually buy for that kinda money.

I can only echo this comment for the OP. Rolex are nice, you get a lot of brand recognition for your money but if it's actual workmanship, quality and a little je ne sais quoi that you want on your wrist?

The value that is available in High Horology, particularly 2nd hand is incredible and blows Rolex out of the water as a WIS conversation starter.

Just spotted this over on r/watchexchange an 18k Breguet Classique with retrograde seconds for $8800 + VAT here. There's definitely a few quid to be shaved off in the negotiation too 😉

€10k on this versus a Sub,Explorer 2 or GMT is a no brainer IMHO. The value in the Breguet versus the Rollie is incredible but! It's one of those purchases that you know will be more difficult to move on if/when the time to sell comes.

A very cool complication. It was on my list for a while but one never crossed my path and I am a lazy buyer/seller. That and a 5817 in rose gold are my pick from the Breguet line.

Buy it (I wouldn’t be able to pass one up for sale locally).

Yeah you might as well buy it @banie01 when you already have a future buyer lined up when you are finished with it 😁

You have a quare auld talent for spending my money 😉 although, this time you won't be the direct recipient 😂

I've had the same thought regarding buying it myself, but will need to sell a couple before I do. So I shall be sticking a couple up for sale ASAP.

It's like selling a house at this stage, always gotta be thinking of the chain 😂

Well they say when you buy is when you are selling. Personally I am good at buying but pretty poor at selling. Thankfully the former usually compensates for the latter.

Some watch enthusiasts think that every time they buy a watch they really like, that they will keep it forever. Which is rarely the case. Fine if you have plenty of money and lose a few grand on most luxury watch purchases. But personally I couldn't afford that, so my head has gotta keep my heart in check

Yep, the whole "perfect" watch that will never be sold is a dangerous myth. Whatever about what we pay for a watch, its really only worth whatever the next person will pay. That said? The entry point into proper high horology in PM being less than a steel rollie will never not amaze and baffle me.
