You mean the wolves match at the start of the season? Where we got a single decision in our favour and the uproar was unbelievable?

As for neither being a free, the wolves one is one that could easily be given on any other day with how he was impeded. As for the one against Spurs, that's a free all day, every day, you can't just grab a keepers arm like that.

When the clubs own fan groups act like this is it any wonder the clubs moral is down the toilet. These Yahoo's fail to understand the enormity of the debt hanging over the club, just how bloated all levels of employment are, and how close the club was to breaching PSR this season.

The cost of hiring and firing Ashworth & the cost of extending the contract of and then firing EtH surely is massively disproportionate to what they’re making on pricing fans out of going to see the team. Those decisions are 100% on INEOS so of course people will be angry at their penny pinching whilst simultaneously burning through money from their own lack of due diligence.

The morale is on the floor because the team are performing badly in most games, not because of what fan groups are saying.

100%, We are stone broke from Glazer mismanagement, as horrible as it is to see cuts need to be made, high waged players should be the next priority.

Each time i see the bloody scrolling on Boards must feel the same as when Onana sees a corner coming in.

You don't think the constant negativity about the club from all angles plays into the mindset of the players then?

I'm sure INEOS would love to not have to make all these cuts but it shows the level of mismanagement that has allowed to continue for over a decade. I don't agree with some of the things they've done but I can separate that from the need to do them. It comes across as penny pinching but the clubs financials are really bad right now. Why else do you think the Glazer's were willing to sell even a small part of their cash cow? Probably because they've drained every last cent out of the club and they knew we were in big trouble.

Expecting new owners to walk in the door and get every decision correct is madness IMO. There'll be ups and downs along the way but fans need to manage their own expectations as well.

They are obviously trying to correct that part as well but it's a lot harder to do unfortunately.

I wouldn’t be having a go at a fan group over it anyway, because to me, they are least of our problems. That particular group you have highlighted only started voicing concerns after the ticket pricing situation. If protests about price increases for OAP’s and kids affects the players’ ability to perform, it says a lot more about them than fans/fan groups standing up for what is right.

I don’t expect every decision to be correct and didn’t suggest that - but when the difference in mistakes around compensation is such a disparity to the few quid you get from ticket price hikes, it leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

FWIW, I’ve no issue with removing SAF’s salary, no longer paying into ex players funds or cancelling Christmas parties or bonuses. Cutting out unnecessary costs, no problem, good work. When you target the match going fans who have done nothing but support the club through the mess you got involved in, that’s where I draw the line, especially when you have made two costly errors of judgement in DA & EtH.

It really is a **** move to increase ticket prices when the club has done feck all to justify this on the pitch. Utd have been on the doldrums for years now and playing awful football but yet they want the match going fans to pay more for this?

No keeper worth their salt should be letting the ball go in directly from a corner.

It says more about the level of Goalkeeper than the defense.

That's a huge problem with Onana. Has to be one of the worst keeps in the league in the 6 yd box and teams have identified that.

Andy Mitten today on Talk Sport: "Every previous manager has had issues with Marcus Rashford. I've spoken to them. They've told me in confidence going back years and years and years."

That's a huge revelation from a very trusted Manchester United journalist who loves the club.

Confirmation that Rashford has always been part of the team culture's problem. He needs to go ASAP.

When its coming from mitten it's about as true as you get

What should he have done then? Couldn't go forward, couldn't go backwards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,782 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

Keepers are protected, he needs to make it look like hes being impeded a dive so to speak but he just jumped and didn't look like he got touched.

and mitten stood by and watched manager after manager get sacked? something aint adding up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,782 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

"Told him in confidence" break that confidence you lose trust and get less from them.

Now that he's being sold no need to keep it quiet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 20,309 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

the managers here are the source, not rashford.

there would be no loyalty to jose after he got sacked, or ole or ETH.

    why wait so long?

It's fairly obvious I would've thought, the club want him gone and are now willing to leak negative press against him. It's all narrative driven nonsense, but people lap it up anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,782 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

I didn't say it was from Rashford I was talking about the managers, he's a united fan the last thing he wants to do is rock the boat at the club.

Why leak negative press saying hes a problem player when trying to sell him? Would lower his value imo.

My view would be that because they're selling a local player who has a high profile that they want to be on the right side of it publically.

You could argue they already are but there's plenty of fans that would be a bit bemused with dropping and selling Rashford while the club is at its lowest ebb.

It's all a bit unedifying anyway either way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,471 ✭✭✭FrankN1

Cant see any fans pushing for him to stay at this point. No need to feed any narrative to the media. More than likely just the truth.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,782 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

I think the majority of fans are sick of his hot n cold form, even on boards its just the 1 or 2 that defend him, I was 1 until recently but hes too patchy and doesn't run enough for what we need. I've no problem with the club selling him and in fairness the majority of the squad bar the younger lads and the new signings.

Ole being the only one who I could imagine Mitten would have the ear of shítting on Rashford while playing him every game through a broken back would be interesting.

    Not overly believable but interesting.

I would guess these comments were throwaway things or related to the groups that Rashford would be pally with in the squad. Are now being jumped up so the club looks better.

A quick look at Reddit has Mitten a Tier 2 journalist. Mad he wouldn't be a tier one when his word is "as true as it gets"?

I've listened to him enough to see that he has his own biases and some of the characters on the United We Stand podcast were very reactionary (entertaining enough to listen to after a match though).

Mitten would be a decent journalist but some of the stuff he's produced more akin to AFTV at times than all for the good of United.

Edit: also, Mitten saying years and years and years. Does this mean 17 year old Marcus Rashford was causing culture issues? Or was it 21 year old Marcus Rashford? I mean 23 year old would bring us up to 2021 which I don't think would be years and years and if a 23 year old is causing culture issues it's more of a manager thing.

Very badly handled with rashford….it was junior b management at best.

Players will protect themselves and Amorim may well have lost the dressing room over…..explains the run of results.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,782 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

Well the majority of them need to go so if hes lost them they can be sold.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,374 ✭✭✭El Gato De Negocios

When the appearance is that a player still has a role to play at the club then club journos are unlikely to be negative. Now that it's clear MR wants out there's no need to keep protecting him.

What explains the run of results is that none of them are good enough and trying to impart a new system most of them are not suited to leads to frustration which compounds game after game.

The only attacking players in the squad who've ever had a good PL season are Bruno and Rashford. Rashford is gone now and Bruno looks exasperated and is bang out of form. What's left to fall back on? Amad has even reverted to the mean.

It took the current Chelsea crop a couple of seasons and striking gold with Palmer for them to look somewhat coherent so we'll see if something can happen. Will need to find the right attacker or 2 now in the Summer which I would not have faith in them.

Pick a manager and you can find a public quote where they are critical of Rashford, I don't see how this is even controversial from Mitten.

Maybe Van Gaal is the exception.

    and thats fine.

mitten is spinning this as something only he knew and is now telling all.

look, maybe he was sitting on it for whatever reason - maybe to protect his own access, i dunno. maybe (said very lightly) it was to protect the club?
