4 games is a long time? Ok 🤷🏻‍♂️ I like how you use league goals there when they both have 7 in total but dear Rashford has played more, interesting that.

Edit: This is just a pisstake of nit picking stats, main stat is they are all shite!

Logged on again…to see people trying to pin all of this on Amorim. Unbelievable, Jeff!

He needs to be pragmatic in the short term, we're dangling dangerously above the drop zone.

Ten Hag was an ideologue, "trust the process", he never bent with the wind and got himself sacked long after it was obvious he didn't have a notion how to dig himself out of the hole he was in.

We should have sacked Ten Hag in June and brought Ruben in then, right now we're in the same death spiral we were in after Ole was sacked. A care taker could have taken the brunt of this current mess, I'm just concerned that Amorim could be scuppered by this current situation and end up gone before he has a real chance to make the changes he needs. Relegation would certainly assure that and that's the predicament we'll be in if we keep rolling over against everyone we face in the league.

We need points on the board then the arses that need kicking can be kicked, preferably right out of the club. Right now we need things like the Rashford saga like a hole in the head.

I haven't seen a single person trying to pin all of this on Amorin

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Relegation...jesus the meltdown is unreal. We will be fine. If we won the last 2 games , people would be talking about top 4.

Im a glass half empty guy and nothing surprises me with this lot but you're right, its 8 points to relegation and 11 to 4th, not much of a swing.

I think it's near time that you just accepted that Onana really is a piss poor keeper....the excuses have ran out for him....he wouldn't catch a cold let alone a cross....a Sunday league keeper wouldn't have been caught out like he was tonight

Athletically, and reflexes etc, are at elite level.

But his decision making, and his basic fundamentals such as positioning and footwork are really really poor. Worse that high-amateur level.

His athleticism and reflexes elevate him to making pro-level, but he’s really, really bad at any of the basic coachable things

There’s no point in saying “if we won the last 2 games” - we didn’t, we lost both of them.

Whatever about points difference, there are 10 teams ahead of us to get in the top 4 and just 4 teams below us to be in the relegation zone. One game away from the half way point of the season.

There’s not much point in saying ‘we’re only X points away from top 4’ when we’re in a situation where no matter who we play, there can be no real confidence of winning.

The next three games are likely going to be tough. Southampton at home after that, should be a win but who knows anymore. It could so, so easily be 6 defeats on the bounce. Imagine the morale at that point. Southampton could easily pick us off.

I don’t have it in me anymore to blame anyone. I like Amorim and hope he succeeds but he’s probably more likely than not to fail because of how uphill the challenge is. And that’s just how things look right now. Who knows what other mad situations are going to crop up between now and the end of the season. I don’t see anything to be positive about anymore.

Very very worried about where the team goes from here, the days of spending 100mil on players(donkeys) are over so we'll struggle to sign proper players.

We can't keep signing players who have scored 11 goals in Italy and expect them to solve our goals problem. Need a proven goal scorer.

A striker and a proper fit left back and we might be a lot better

Tbf the amount of individual errors since Amorim has taken over is mind boggling! 2 goals direct from a corner in the space of a week or 2 is insane and just shouldn't happen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,089 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

And we cannot drop the keeper because what we have as backup is even worse

The goal keeping situation is the worse we've had since Ferguson times.

Not 1 of these players gets on the pitch in a United team that was successful. Not even close.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,679 ✭✭✭✭FourFourRED

He’s in the spotlight at the moment for a recent period of questionable form but he can be an easy target imo. For the first part of the season he was quite reliable. I don’t think I’d start with Onana at all. (Not saying you are).

Lack of goals is the big issue obviously. Big chances created v Bournemouth and all missed. You score a goal early on and it can change the game. Going into games wondering if we’ll score or not is crazy when you think of our past.

Leicester, 18th place, have scored more goals than us. We have conceded less than the 5 teams above us.

Sure is this not the reason Ashworth didn't want Amorim? Didnt he feel the squad was too far removed from where he would want it?

    Boards has hit the pits.

Is it me or is it absolutely mental when hitting latest comment that it bring its back a few weeks on some random comment, then has an absolute seizure pushing up and down.

Again if it was a Hojund problem like a very bad one that people try make out it is we would see major upticks when he doesn't play, does any other player get way more chances when played up top. No. So while ramus could do better for sure he is not being provided good service so far under Almiron and wasn't under ten hag either.

We don't cross, we don't play through balls, we don't have many pull backs a game, there is nothing for a striker to get onto.

Maybe because our midfield is completely sh*te and has no creativity, and when they do create something, usually Bruno or Garnacho shoot from wherever and miss?

Either way, poor creativity and limited supply aside, Hojlund has hardly set the world on fire so far himself. His hold up play for a big lad isn't great, and his finishing tends to be more towards the keeper than the corner. He's also not great in the air (has he scored a header at all from a set-piece since he arrived?).

Hojlund was an expensive panic buy by Ten Hag. He's decent, but looks to be decent in a €30m back-up striker kind of way, not a €70m play every game and get 30-40 in all competitions kind of way. He's got 12 goals in 43 league appearances for United, that's a worse statistic than with Atlanta. He does not look like, and has not so far played like, a 25 goal a league season striker, and at the very least that is what United need. Though it must be said in European games he's hit 10 in 12, which is a serious quality return, even if most of them have come against poor enough sides, but it does show potential.

Yes he's young (though 21 is hardly a baby) and has potential, but at some stage potential needs to turn into something tangible. And so far, he hasn't hit the middle, never mind the heights.

I'd be worried too that the amount of niggly injuries he seems to be picking up, the club is already saddled with expensive sick notes, notably Shaw and Mount, we could do without another.

I hope he becomes a top player and the quality striker we need, but at the moment, he's looking anything but.

The only game when it looked good was the Everton game. Players taking chances that weren't necessarily great. Højlund has started nearly every game under Amorim and the only teams he's scored against are Bodo Glimt and Victoria Plzen along with the rebound goal against Forest that he hit in.

What else has he done? 2 decent chances created in that time is it?

I have a feeling if Zirkzee or whoever was up front for 60 odd games he'd at least have a good relationship with 1 player. Who does Højlund play well with or improve?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,782 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

We are better with Amad at WB, since he's moved to the 10 position the team has declined.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 499 ✭✭GolfPar

Agreed on that. With Bruno suspended for the next match you would imagine he stays in one of the 10 positions. I wonder does this open the door for Rashford to get back in the team or squad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,305 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

Ya, it's very United at the moment. You log in to find you're miles behind were you should be, and when you try to catch up, everything goes mental.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,648 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

Very grim looking at the table. Feels like anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. You can see the anxiety in the players at every set piece now. The numbers are ridiculous in that aspect. They've got to try and find a temp fix to it.

I won't go too much into it but if you look at the underlying performance numbers of the team since Amorim took over, there are a lot of positives. We need to start getting a few wins on the board and I think we will sooner rather than later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,916 ✭✭✭Robson99

The creativity from midfield is a huge issue. Ugarte is just a stopper....and time will tell if he's good or not. Mainoo looked very poor last night and seems to be struggling this season...he doesn't look like he has the athleticism

Casemiro and Eriksen are finished....both looked the were running on sand last night....in fact I thought Casemiro looked like he has completely checked out. Bruno simply isn't good enough to be in a team with aspirations for top 4. You can put any striker in the world up top for us now and we still going nowhere

Look at Cuhna last night. He looks a proper player. Hard working tracking back and then so positive on the ball going forward....compare him to Bruno ....

We have looked decent with Amad at RWB...LWB is killing us....

IMO we need 3 big signings to get this Amorin rebuild up and running. GK, LWB and a middle of the park player that has some creativity

I think the Rashford ship and sailed and he'll be gone in January, as he should be after that interview.

I'd like to see Eriksen in that 10 role, playing on the left side of the two with Mainoo beside him and Amad at RWB.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

The dismissal of Rashford was the stereotypical new manager declaring he’s now the Gaffer. He can’t go back on that now, if he does it will be out of sheer desperation. And will be seen as such.

It was the right thing to do, but he couldn’t foresee the collapse in confidence by the rest of the team.
